In the middle of the Downtown Riverside, Pharaohs Den has quickly emerged to a unique atmosphere of different genres of music, really cool art exhibits and events.
Pharaohs Den does not just focus on the norm we focus on the Artist and Musician.
Here at Pharaohs Den the Art and Music comes first....
This drives us to bring great interesting bands and artist to come showcase their unique talents and expression of everyday life.
Art and Music is usually put on the back burner and is not considered an outstanding tool to educate and inspired people in our community and world.
Here at Pharaohs Den we educate and inspired others with our sense of artistic expressions and innovation.
We want the artist to be the main focus of our expression to higher consciousness and healthy living.
We are looking to bring fourth the talents of our community so, we can generate a strong sense of higher consciousness with in our core.
The focus is to be conscious of our surroundings and our universal being. As musicians and artist we can bring people together through our expression and communications of life.
We want to share the gift of our universal understanding of artistic expressions and thought. We want people to be ale to come together as one and be able to share the inner most problems we face in our daily lives and be able to collectively solve them.
We are in a time of great confusion and extremely fast information and we need to utilize the tools we are giving or have in order to educate a higher consciousness.
We are not able to focus in our universal being because we are to busy trying to live our lives and not consciously realizing what we are doing to ourselves.
We need to communicate the conscious energy so, we can expand our knowledge and understanding of our beautiful life. We need to stop the discrimination and inferiority we have against one another. We are all created uniquely and we need to be ONE with the Universe.
However, we all need to collectively bring in the conscious understandings of everyday life so, we can began to break the bad habits in our daily lives. We need to learn to initiate the good energy forces and elevate so, we can create the awareness of positive thought and higher consciousness. Collectively we can rise above the haze that covers and blinds the will and ability to see beyond our knowledge and understanding. Now is the time we make a difference in our life's before we regret the journey we are all here experiencing. We all need to realize that we are ALL ONE with the Universe......Everything Affects and Effects. Higher understanding of our universe is what we need to bring fourth in our lives so, we can learn to be ONE.... One 1111 Peace Love and Equal Opportunity and Rights.

Higher consciousness, also called super consciousness (Yoga), objective consciousness (Gurdjieff), Buddhic consciousness (Theosophy), cosmic consciousness, God-..consciousness (Sufism and Hinduism) and Christ consciousness (New Thought), are expressions used in various spiritual traditions to denote the consciousness of a human being who has reached a higher level of evolutionary development and who has come to know Reality as it is. Evolution in this sense is not that which occurs by natural selection over generations of human reproduction but evolution brought about by the application of spiritual knowledge to the conduct of human life. Through the application of such knowledge (traditionally the preserve of the world's great religions) to practical self-..management, the awakening and development of faculties dormant in the ordinary human being is achieved. These faculties are aroused by and developed in conjunction with certain dispositions of character such as patience, kindness, truthfulness, humility and forgiveness towards one's fellow man – qualities without which, according to moral/ethical stipulations of the various traditions, higher consciousness is not possible.

Higher consciousness is generally regarded as a developed state of consciousness in which aspects of the mind, such as thought, perception and attention, are improved, refined and enhanced. It is considered thus to be a higher level of consciousness relative to ordinary consciousness, in the sense that a greater awareness of reality is achieved. In a secular context, higher consciousness is usually associated with exceptional control over one's mind and will, intellectual and moral enlightenment, and profound personal growth.[1]. In a spiritual context, It may also be associated with transcendence, spiritual enlightenment, and union with the divine.[2]
The concept of higher consciousness rests on the belief that the average, ordinary human being is only partially conscious due to the character of the untrained mind and the influence of 'lower' impulses and preoccupations... As a result, most humans are considered to be asleep (to reality) even as they go about their daily business. Gurdjieff called this ordinary condition of humanity "waking sleep," an idea gleaned in part from ancient spiritual teachings such as those of the Buddha. In each person lie potentialities that remain inchoate as a result of the individual being caught up in mechanical, neurotic modes of behaviour where energy for personal spiritual development is not used correctly, but squandered in unskillful ways. As a result of the phenomenon of projection, the cause of such a person's suffering is often seen to lie in outer circumstances or other individuals. One prerequisite for the development of consciousness is the understanding that suffering and alienation are one's own responsibility and dependent on the mind's acquiescence (through ignorance, for example). Traditionally, both in the Eastern and the Abrahamic spiritual traditions, a person who sought mind-body transformation came under the tutelage of a Master (Rabbi, Sheikh, Guru, Acarya, etc.) who would oversee their progress. In the past, as today, this education would often involve periods of retreat in communities (ashrams, monasteries, meditation centers, etc.) whose sole purpose is the cultivation of awakening.
[edit] Ordinary consciousness as projection
In the spiritual traditions of India, consciousness is understood to be obscured by defilements (Skt: Kilesa) which are compared to clouds covering the sun. These defilements are the result of conditioning (..Skt:samskara), accumulations in the unconscious caused by past actions (karma) . As a result, what any individual perceives as reality is a picture of the world at one particular moment filtered through his unconscious conditioning – a ‘reality’ that western psychology calls ‘projection’ (i.e., of the contents of the unconscious). Every individual human being has their own store of conditioning based on their unique past experiences, their 'reality tunnel'. The goal of spiritual practice (buddhadharma, shariah, yoga etc) is the transformation and higher integration of these contents so that any practitioner following a spiritual path comes closer to reality as the causes of delusion are dissolved. Enlightenment (also called salvation, kaivalya, moksha, Union with God,etc) furthermore, involves the complete dissolution of all the causes for future becoming so that reality is seen, finally, as it is, rather than through the veils of projected unconscious contents. It may be protested that the mere possession of an apparatus such as the mind and body of a human being with its genetically predetermined structures prevents the possibility of unconditioned consciousness (Skt: asankhata-nana or nibbana) but the testimonials of numerous saints and mystics throughout history bear witness to the contrary.
[edit] The spiritual path
The path of cultivating consciousness requires the adoption of certain self-imposed rules or vows. These are generally concerned with exercising restraint with respect to actions of body, speech and mind. Examples include the five precepts of Buddhism. The effect of this restraint is to begin to contain energy and prevent unskillful actions that cause ongoing harm. Over time changes in the moral disposition of the aspirant are accompanied by physiological changes in the brain and nervous system opening up the energy channels (nadis or meridians) present in the subtle bodies which are thereby activated. Critical (indeed central) to development of one’s latent spiritual faculties is the practice of meditation. After moral restraint, meditation is the most important tool in the purification of the mind.
[edit] Consciousness: spiritual approaches
Spiritual approaches to consciousness involve the idea of altered states of consciousness or religious experience. Changes in the state of consciousness or a religious experience can occur spontaneously or as a result of religious observance. It is also maintained by some religions, religious factions and some scientists that the universe itself is consciousness.
In shamanic practices, changes in states of consciousness are induced by activities that create trance states, such as drumming, dancing, fasting, sensory deprivation, exposure to extremes of temperature, or the use of psychoactive drugs. The experience that occurs is interpreted as entering a real, but parallel, world. In many polytheistic religions a change in emotional state is often attributed to the action of a god; for instance love was ruled by Aphrodite and Eros in Ancient Greek polytheism. In Hinduism the change in state is induced by the practice of yoga. Yoga means "union" and is intended to produce a state of oneness between the practitioner and the divine. In Islam and Christianity, the change of state can occur as a result of prayer or as a religious experience.
The change in state of consciousness in Hinduism, Buddhism, New Thought, Christianity and Islam is reported to be quite similar. The pursuit of yoga and the Buddhist Jhanas involve feelings of oneness with the world that give rise to a state of rapture. This is also reported by those undergoing some forms of Christian (or Islamic) religious experience; for instance, James (1902) provides the following report:
I cannot express it in any other way than to say that I did "lie down in the stream of life and let it flow over me." I gave up all fear of any impending disease; I was perfectly willing and obedient. There was no intellectual effort, or train of thought. My dominant idea was: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord: be it unto me even as thou wilt," and a perfect confidence that all would be well, that all was well. The creative life was flowing into me every instant, and I felt myself allied with the Infinite, in harmony, and full of the peace that passeth understanding. There was no place in my mind for a jarring body. I had no consciousness of time or space or persons, but only of love and happiness and faith...[citation needed]
Meditation is used in some forms of yoga such as Raja Yoga, Hatha yoga, Transcendental Meditation (TM), the Buddhist Jhanas, in the practices of Christian monks and Islamic mystics (Sufis). Meditation can have a calming influence on practitioners, as well as changing the state of consciousness. Theravada Buddhism views the Jhanas - the cultivation of which is similar to practices in Hindu Yoga - as a preliminary, in which it is demonstrated that states such as rapture are not ultimately satisfactory (see The Jhanas in Theravada Buddhist Meditation by Mahathera Henepola: "With the fading away of rapture, he dwells in equanimity, mindful and discerning"). In most types of Buddhism, serenity meditation is followed by insight meditation in which one uses the sharpened mind to penetrate the true nature of all mental phenomena.

MEMBERSHIPS: The Pharaoh's Den is now a "private" facility that requires you to be a member before attending any shows there, including our own. The membership is $5.00+ Donation fee and you only need to pay it once, in addition to our door price. This is because of threats from the city to shut down the Den, and is the only way they could keep their doors open. We've posted the Pharaoh's Den's rules for memberships in our blog at the top of the page if you'd like to read it.

Pharaohs Den is place where we all can gather and communicate our differences and learn about each other. Here are our Laws of our Nature. Pharaohs Den Cultural Space Center Membership Application Pharaohs Den is a private Performance Arts Gallery. Members must be willing to abide by these laws of Pharaohs Den Nature to be part of the Kingdom. Raspect. Bless Music And Art.
1. The Pharaohs Den Cultural Space Center membership cards/Sign up Sheet remain the property of the Pharaohs Den Cultural Space Center and any misuse of the cards may jeopardize your membership. Membership cards are personal to the named member on the card, please do not give your card to anyone else, as this could result in your membership being canceled. We do not have any memberships card at the moment because we are trying to save some money for them. We just like for returning members to let us know they are a Member and we will look you up on the Sign Up Sheets or we will look for your membership Application.
2. Members should always have their cards with them in order to minimize delay at the front door and to facilitate smoother entry and exit from reception.
3. Guests:
a. Members are allowed 2 guests and up to 5 Guests on other nights. This means members are allowed to invite a person/guest to become part of Pharaohs Den. This is an invitation to be a part of the Pharaohs Den. The guest or guests must also, pay the Membership Donation Fee.
b. To arrange additional guests please call The Pharaohs Den Cultural Space Center office 951-683-5627 or by e-mail pharaohsden@gmail.com
c. Members are responsible for their guest's behavior.
d. All guests must arrive by the agreed time, which the member must include on the confirmed guest list.
4. Members may be subject to occasional security checks upon which they may be asked to provide additional proof of identity.
5. Once the facility has reached capacity, admission is possible only as members exit.
6. Occasionally The Pharaohs Den Cultural Space Center may be booked for private events, in which case the facility will be closed to members. We will endeavour to give appropriate notice whenever possible.
7. The Pharaohs Den Cultural Space Center management reserves the right to refuse admission.
8. As a member you are expected to respect both staff and our other members and guests, management may ask you to leave the premises if your behaviour is inappropriate or upsets other members.
9. The management takes no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal property.
10. Any person found in possession of or consuming illegal substances whilst on the premises will be asked to leave immediately and their membership will be revoked.

The Pharaoh's Den offers mediums of expression a wide variety of the meaning of what art has become to mean. Film, photography, classes, workshops and performance art are just a few of the creative mediums displayed here at the cultural space center The Pharaoh's Den. The variance within these different artistic mediums can be analyzed by the different music we have had ranging from punk, metal industrial avant-garde, experimental, hip hop, jazz, blues, reggae, noise, pop, and much more. It is not hard to fathom there will be an extraordinary array of emerging new artistic influences that will find their way to the Pharaoh's Den. The Pharaoh's Den is the perfect source of unity for underground, mainstream, and local and non-local artists. Art is often defined as the conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements, or other elements that affects the sense of beauty. It may be easier for one to describe art as the way something is done—the use of imagination and skill in creating unique environments, aesthetic objects, and profound and moving experiences that we can readily share with others. However, those who contemplate and seek to define art in their own application will generally agree that; at any given moment in time, art will lack a satisfactory definition. This lack of definition is what we thrive on as individuals and as a whole at The Pharaoh's Den, the unknown becomes the accepted medium of exploration and growth, not blueprint fixtures that cause vortexes of creative stagnation. We are defined loosely as a social network of cosmic brothers and sisters all unified together under the envelope of creation. The Pharaoh's Den is a road that could never be polarized to one element or one tying as a representative of the whole as the path will forever mold and change, constantly providing new boundless opportunities. There is a growing artistic energy grid in Downtown Riverside, and the Pharaoh's Den provides the perfect environment for different mediums to co-exist side by side. As we all know, there is always a challenge to stamp any new venture with a brand that people can identify with. The Pharaoh's Den addresses this by providing an outlet for anyone who is involved in the creative process. It is the perfect place for underground talent to emerge and evolve, and provides a friendly platform for the more mainstream talent to showcase their skills as well. Discipline, precision, progress, growth, community, and knowledge are just a few of the themes that define the mission of the Pharaoh's Den. This mission is slowly growing stronger and stronger as time moves along, a strength that slowly finds new areas to sprout out of. Like the opening track from Miles Davis' Bitches Brew double LP album, 'The Pharaoh's Dance", which served as an inspiration for the cultural venue: the Pharaoh's Den strives to be at the forefront of each new development in art and music. And like Miles Davis himself, the Pharaoh's Den endeavors to become a highly influential conduit through which many important artists and musicians of today will emerge. All of the infinite things in existence, great and small, seen and unseen, imaginable and unimaginable; have their beginnings in the quietude of life. And, if we are not careful, we will miss the opportunity to see that the Pharaoh's Den is marching perfectly in step with the concourse of nature. MEMBERSHIPS: The Pharaoh's Den is now a "private" facility that requires you to be a member before attending any shows there, including our own. The membership is $5.00+ Donation fee and you only need to pay it once, in addition to our door price. This is because of threats from the city to shut down the Den, and is the only way they could keep their doors open. We've posted the Pharaoh's Den's rules for memberships in our blog at the top of the page if you'd like to read it.

Unless noted otherwise, all shows are $8 and begin at 7:30 pm.
TO VOLUNTEER: We take 5 volunteers a night, and it is first come first serve so arrive early. For bigger shows, you should arrive by 6:30.

Within the sounds, the sculptures, the pyramid and the WaterSight Mineral Spring Dreaming Tubs, you awaken your senses.... you will find answers to questions that have gone un-answered. This is more than a festival gathering, this is about discovering your next level of creativity, with other brothers and sisters counting down to 2012.
TeleMagica provides a stage for painters, sculptors, musicians, poets, photographers, film makers, performance artists, neo-vaudville, graf artists and creative ritualists coming together for exchange of ideas and talents, for connectivity and collaboration on projects, and for rejuvenation in a world where the support for the non-commercial arts has been evaporating.
This is our 7th annual... in 09 we joined and Aligned the tribes and in 2010, en mass we will IGNITE from within to create LUMINESCENCE, straightening our individual emanations to connect with the emanations at large...

I have been an actor for over 17 years. I started out as a stand up comic. After finding my love for a live audience I branched off into live theater then on to film. I am a member of the Groundlings, Comic Connection, Class Clown and SAG. I have been the producer for Riverside Children’s Theater. I travel around California lecturing at various high schools on the Business of the Business, where I explain the business end of this industry. I have several private students who have been guided and molded to become very successful at the entry level.
I feel it is now time to bring quality Acting and Improv classes to Riverside. I look forward to meeting and guiding the future stars of Riverside.
Improv classes will emphasize the fundamentals of Improv, Comedy Improv an Dramatic Improv
Commercial/Beginning Acting Classes will include Scene Study, Character Development, Movement and the actors tool box. More advanced classes will include understanding of the business, Auditioning, finding and choosing the right agent, headshots.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch (musical)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a rock musical about a fictional rock and roll band fronted by an East German transgender singer. The text is by John Cameron Mitchell, and the music and lyrics are by Stephen Trask. The musical premiered in 1998 and has been performed throughout the world in hundreds of stage productions. It has gathered a devoted cult following similar to that of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The story draws on Mitchell's life as the son of a U.S. Army Major General who once commanded the U.S. sector of occupied West Berlin. The character of Hedwig was originally inspired by a German woman, a divorced U.S. Army wife who was a Mitchell family babysitter that moonlighted as a prostitute at

The music is steeped in the androgynous 1970s glam rock era of David Bowie (who co-produced the Los Angeles production of the show), as well as the work of John Lennon and early punk godfathers Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.
The musical opened Off-Broadway at the Jane Street Theater on February 14, 1998. The theater was located in the ballroom of the Hotel Riverview, which once housed the surviving crew of the Titanic (a fact which figured in the original production). Originally directed and produced by Peter Askin, the play won a Village Voice Obie Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical. The Off-Broadway production ran for two years, and was remounted with various casts by the original creative team in Boston, Los Angeles, and London.

Grandson of an African American Baptist preacher born in Jim Crow Mississippi, Dj Raedawn(aka Crunc Tesla) got the Callin to grace stages at the age of 4 playing the violin {though he prefered Nintendo} . He later moved on to the trombone around age 10 unknowingly following in the footsteps of his great-uncle Mel Wanzo (R.I.P) of the Count Basie Orchestra. He later left his highschool jazz ensemble to fully pursue his lust for djing and electronic composition. Besides being a seasoned DMC vet and mixtape maestro to many, he developed the Turntablist Transcription Methodology with his chums Ethan Imboden and Battlesounds' creator John Carluccio. This unique notation system for electronic/dj music has been developed into software, used in music courses around the world and has been featured by the likes of Time, CNN, Blackbook, XLR8R.......yatayatayata. At Skratchcon 2000, Q-bert knighted him with the Dj Q-bert SkratchMaster Award from the Global Skratch foundation. Far from a scratch nerd, Raedawns assaulted stages and dancefloors from the legendary Apollo Theatre to the most dank techno til 10 in the morn coke den party in Berlin. Crunc Tesla has collaborated with artists such as Mos Def, Fat Lip, Antipop Consortium and Angelbert Metoyer. Raedawn, also known as Jordie Laforge, has a number of alias groups as well as being the founder of the dynamic multimedia label called Luv Technologies. Having opened for a wide spectrum of artists, from Stereolab to Dizzee Rascal to the mythical Red Alert (I wont even mention Dead Prez, a Bright Eyes US trek and playing head to head with Aphex twin at a fest in Den Haag), Raedawn's performances have defied genre and moved generations of audiences. The lovable lionheart ATLien has been hiding out in a post modern post production chamber somewhere in East Williamsburg Brooklyn.

Circuit Scarecrow brings the noise!!!
Approximately 3 years ago, Circuit Scarecrow released an EP entitled "Mechanical Laughter". I was fortunate enough to review this ear-catching project. Mechanical offered an element not attempted before in Hip Hop. That element is known as "Noise". For those in the dark about this genre, noise music is a sub-genre of experimental music constructed from noise as opposed to recognizable sounds or pitches. Mix that with Hip Hop type tempos and add a lyricist and you have Circuit Scarecrow.
