ON BILLBOARD

Cherine Anderson
may be the first Jamaican female artist in recent times to hit not one but five Billboard charts simultaneously. The feat brings about another first in Anderson's short career, as she might also be the first Jamaican female singer to register a song on the Billboard Rock Charts.

The Dancehall Soulstress is featured with Michael Franti & Spearhead on the Sly & Robbie produced smash hit "Say Hey (I Love You)", which has been added to many US top 40 radio and AAA radio stations in the past three weeks. The song peaked at #1 on Billboard Heatseekers charts 6 weeks ago and has been steadily climbing other charts.  Currently "Say Hey (I Love You)" is #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, #48 on the Billboard Rock chart, #14 on the Digital Songs chart, #22 on the Pop Songs chart and #43 on The Radio Songs chart.

According to Anderson "I am extremely happy, and it's an honor to be among so many talented artists who I listen to on commercial radio in the US." She continued, "I am so grateful to turn on the radio and to be able to hear Michael and myself being played right after bands like Coldplay, Madonna, Beyonce and Britney Spears."

After a recent concert in San Francisco we caught up with her backstage. When asked about being the first on the rock chart Anderson smiles, "Wow, I didn't even know that, but I am so grateful for the way everything has progressed, all the tours and now having "Say Hey" playing in other non-reggae, urban markets. It's truly a blessing."

San Francisco, CA - June 25, 2009

Soulful, radiant and powerful are but a few words that could suitably describe Dancehall Soulstress Cherine Anderson's performance at the 16th Annual Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Booneville, California this past weekend.  Anderson delivered a set that vouched for  her vocal talent and growing popularity among international reggae audiences.  With the support of legendary musicians Sly & Robbie and the Taxi Gang , Anderson rocked the capacity sized crowds with hits like "Kingston State of Mind", "Good Love" and the her most recent chart topper "Shine On Jamaica".  She got the crowd involved in her performance and looked at home as she sang both new and old tunes.  Always appreciative of her fans, Anderson was especially attentive to the group of kids who flocked the side of the stage, signing autographs and taking pictures for well over an hour after exiting the main stage.  Back in the media tent, several members of the press referred to Cherine as an ambassador for the music and her country and inquired as to whether she felt pressured to be a female on the current reggae scene.

In the midnight hours Anderson returned for a second performance at the festival, joining veteran selector Rory from the Stone Love movement in the Dancehall.  Anderson entertained the jam packed dancehall with popular tunes as well as dancehall tracks from her 2008 mixtape Street Anthems which was hosted by Rory.  The vibe was more hardcore but the fans loved every minute of it.  After delivering her set, she was put on the spot to sing something a cappella and got an overwhelming response when she belted out "You & Me Against the World".

Up next for the busy talent are a couple of days of intense rehearsals with the Grammy nominated band the Counting Crows and Michael Franti and Spearhead, for their joint upcoming July thru September tour.  She starts her European tour this Saturday, June 27 at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, England, opening for Spearhead.

Kingston, JAMAICA - June 10, 2009

Singer/Actress Cherine Anderson will head out on an 11 week world tour beginning June 20th. We caught up briefly with the singer who was in rehearsals for her Caribbean Fashion Week performance this Saturday June 13th at the National Arena in Kingston, Jamaica. Even in the current economical climate, Anderson has been blessed with one of the busiest schedules for the summer. Speaking about her upcoming tour the East Kingston beauty says with her usual smile, "I love performing, so I am giving thanks for all the blessings and opportunities to promote my music and my new EP The Introduction-Dubstyle."  With her single "Shine on Jamaica" topping two international reggae charts for four weeks in a row and rising on other reggae charts, Anderson feels grateful for the worldwide exposure and the opportunity to take her Dancehall Soul sound and her Jamaican culture to new audiences.

Anderson starts her summer with solo shows in June before heading out on a European tour which will take her to multiple cities in Belgium, Italy, France, UK, Germany, Ireland, Holland and Switzerland.  On returning to North America she again joins Michael Franti & Spearhead and the rock band The Counting Crows on an eight week US tour which will play to audiences in theatres and mid sized arenas.  Anderson's manager Patrick Lindsay states, "We are committed to presenting Cherine's talent to diversified audiences across the world. This has required consistent hard work on her part and I am pleased that she has been up for the challenge.   She constantly performs with high energy for her audiences and delivers her 'Jamaica to Di World' message with pride."

Los Angeles, CA - May 23,2009 - Dancehall-Soul star Cherine Anderson is set to blaze the stage at the 23rd Annual UCLA Jazz & Reggae Festival this Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th at the UCLA Intramural Field in Los Angeles, California.  Cherine is riding several international reggae music charts with her prolific single "Shine on Jamaica" and has received a lot of love in the streets since the release of her hot new video "Talk if Yuh Talking".  She  remains  at #1 for a third week on the South Florida Reggae Charts after topping the WAVS 1170 top 11 charts for four consecutive weeks. Anderson will be in great company this holiday weekend, sharing the stage with neo-soul star Erykah Badu, De La Soul, as well as fellow Jamaican artists Mavado and Morgan Heritage and other amazing artists.

According to Anderson, "This year has  truly been a blessing for me.  I have been putting in a lot of work between touring and recording, and fans seem to be responding positively to the new material."  When asked what fans can expect from her at this year's Jazz & Reggae Fest, Anderson responds with a huge smile, "It's going to be a whole lot of niceness.  I want to encourage fans to come out early and get ready to dance, feel good and be inspired."

Anderson will stay on to do a charity event in Los Angeles after the festival, then head to Savannah, Georgia  and New York before returning to Jamaica for Caribbean Fashion Week.

In bed does she scream your name
when you were sick & in pain
in a hospital bed

So now you have money & fame
Everyone’s calling your name
But don’t you forget
It was just you and me
In a tenament yard pon one single bed

This house I’m not leaving
Baby I’m not joking
Talk if yuh talking
Walk if yuh walking
Sort out di someting
I’m taking my share

I'm not gonna argue
Not gonna fight you
Not gonna call you names

Come right back around
You’ll both get what you deserve
