Hyman Roth was my favorite character in The Godfather 2. So much that I can't quit imitating him. He was played by Lee Strasberg and was nominated for an Academy Award. Here's my favorite rant:

Current mood:high on meth
I had a great time at Tales From the Tavern at The Maverick Saloon the other night. My friend Maia Sharp shared the bill with me and the packed house responded with a fervor not unlike that of people who catch fire when sitting around a bonfire on a beach with a leaking can of gasoline. We laughed, we cried and ate great Italian food. Some really cool people flew all the way out from Australia to see the show. Henry Diltz took pictures and the show was filmed on video for perhaps another DVD? Steven Soles showed up! He produced One Left Shoe years ago. It was so much fun catching up with him and hearing stories and talking about guitars and facial hair and testicles. Well, we really didn't talk about testicles but in my mind we did. Kind of like Brian Fellows Safari Planet. That's crazy! Rabbits can't cut their own hair.
Happy Friday to you,
Steve

Teenage Zombie
I ain’t taking no for an answer listen to me now
My basement is a shelter its raining dogs and cats and cows
I been up for twenty days and 20 lonely nights
My eyes are just as baggy as an anorexic wearing tights
(a stickman wearing tights)
There’s fleas inside my veins and I’m itching from within
My carpet’s full of stains better call the next of kin
I got tin foil on my windows and I’ve saved my fingernails
In jars next to my urine and blood in plastic pails
The bowling alley will not let me rent some bowling shoes
My feet have lots of blisters I haven’t paid my dues
My children have abandoned me they really think I’m dead
I’m nothing but a zombie with a teenager in my head
The fact that I can’t hold my liquor doesn’t mean a thing
I got ulcers on my blisters filled with pussy rings
I got tin foil on my windows and I’ve saved my fingernails
In jars next to my urine and blood in plastic pails
Happy Halloween,
Steve

This bird is beautiful eh? Painted by the Zach's wife. I didn't catch her name last night. They own the cool place I played in Rossland, BC. It's called The Old Firehall and what a time we all had. The Kootenays are a beautiful this time of the year. I suppose they're beautiful anytime of year. I've met some like Mark and Jane who let Modl and I crash at their cool house on bunk beds with Star Wars sheets. I met them through my tour mates Little Miss Higgins and we're playing music and cooking great food. Life is good.
If you ever find yourself in Cave Creek, Arizona I suggest you stop by Cave Creek Coffee Roastery
and say hi to Dave. He owns the crazy swinging dogs and lets me come by his place a roast coffee. Michael works with him and roasts the beans all day. I've got a couple more Canada shows to play and then I'll see you somewhere.
Remember this quote:
"Never love a wild thing... you can't give your heart to a wild thing: the more you do, the stronger they get. Until they're strong enough to run into the woods. Or fly into a tree. Then a taller tree. Then the sky. That's how you'll end up... If you let yourself love a wild thing. You'll end up looking at the sky."
— Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany's
Peace out,
Steve

I'll train your dogs to swing like Sinatra and Liberace. They'll swing like playground tether balls and yap at each other like New Years revelers at 4 am in a Denny's parking lot fistfight. They'll listen like thieves trying crack a safe in the back of a Catholic Church in the middle of mass. They'll sleep like sedated patients after getting wisdom teeth extractions. They'll behave like Manchurian Candidates hypnotized by Communist witch doctors. They'll wait quietly while you carve the roast beast as your dinner guests' mouths water impatiently while you tell bad jokes. They'll poo outside like wild apes and protect your borders from illegal aliens and peeping Tom paperboys high on glue from building model airplanes in the garages of Grandfathers everywhere. In short, they'll be the best friend you could ever ask for.

Current mood:philanthropisty
Returning to San Diego tomorrow. I'm playing a benefit to keep music in schools. This is a charity event to support the Bonsall Education Foundation to fund district-wide music programs that were cut by the California state budget crisis. More information about the event is available here. Tickets for Bonsallpalooza are available at the Bonsall Certified Farmer's Market which is located at the Bonsall Community Center on Old River Road in Bonsall. Get discounted tickets ($30) for this show by emailing: concert@bonsallschools.org with the subject line: Serve Me My Food. The show starts at 8pm
Do something good for once in your fucking lives. You'll be able to tell your friends you give to charity and they'll think you're all philanthropisty. You'll be more sexually attractive to the same or opposite sex. ( whatever you're into ---including animals)
Don't let me down. I'm counting on you. I never ask you for favors but this time I am. I'll hate you forever if you don't show up. 30 bucks is a small amount to make sure we keep churning out weirdos who play music.
Christily yours,
Steve

Hello kind visitors to Poltz.com
Nice to see you. It's about time I quit twittering and wrote on the old website.
I've been doing nothing but traveling.
Thanks for the cool midwest run. I feel all Michiganny and Illinoisy in my heart.
A long time ago a guy named Fred Van Vactor wrote me an email that I liked so much I read it on stage to people across the world. I thought he was a crazy stalker and I was right. About the crazy part at least. Stalker? Hmmm perhaps. Way cool? For sure!
He showed up at the songwriting workshop I teach with Tim Bluhm through Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides.
So after hearing his songs and introducing him to Christopher Hoffee aka Atom Orr they decided to make a record or cd or cassettte or 8 track in Escondido California. This is a great cd! I urge you to buy it. Buy several copies for your friends. Get it on iTunes or off of Fred's website but make sure you get it.
Here's the back cover
So yeah- buy it on iTunes or at cd baby.
Thanks to everyone in Australia for the last couple months.
Thanks to Dawn and Rob for putting on such a cool house concert in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I love New Mexico.
Thanks to Matt and Teri for hosting another barn blowout in Michigan.
Thanks to Eric Rudiak for putting on The brother's K show in Evanston, Ill.
And John and Sandy Benequisto for building a stage in their basement in McComb Mchigan and putting on a jam packed rock show complete with fireworks and fog machines.
Bloggily yours,
Steverino
