On November 6th Tuam native Noelie McDonnell is set to release his third album, Come Alive which was recorded over the last 7 months in Austin, Texas and Toronto, Canada. Noelie’s songwriting has been recognized by both fans and fellow musicians for its beautiful and simple observations on everyday life. In 2008, Noelie McDonnell, won the hearts of new fan's all over the nation with his Irish chart topping single, 'Nearly Four' which also remained at No.1 in the iTunes folk chart for 6 weeks following its release in October. After releasing the album 'Beyond Hard Places', he was hailed by New York Post ‘ as a startlingly good new Irish talent.’ The album spent two months in the iTunes Top 10 folk album chart A meeting with American folk legend, Greg Brown last summer kicked started a chain of events that led to the making of Come Alive. Brown invited Noelie to support him on some US dates which lead to Noelie playing at the International Folk Conference in Memphis and playing with the some of the finest up and coming musicians in the States including Anais Mitchell, Devon Sproule & Jess Klein amongst others. Then on to Austin, Texas where Noelie started work on Come Alive at the remote Aerie Studio with producer and engineer Mark Addison. Noelie finished the recording with musician/producer Don Kerr ( Ron Sexsmith, Rheostatics) in Toronto, Canada at the end of this summer. Noelie’s live performances have earned critical acclaim and won over fans with his catchy folk rock style. He has as shared the stage with Greg Brown, Luka Bloom, John Martyn and Eddi Reader to name but a few. Noelie will be touring Ireland with a full band to coincide with the release of Come Alive this November. The first single from the album, 'The Big Release', is out October 23rd. Noelie McDonnell Come Alive is out November 6th
**Special Pre - Order Packages will be announced this week - Initially to people on the mailing list only **

Hi from Madison, Wisconsin. Just catching the end of the winter here and the people that live in this very relaxed college town in the Mid West are fed up of the cold. I'm getting a kick out of the remaining snow and ice. Tonight I open for Anais Mitchell at The Brink Lounge here in Madison and for the next two nights before meeting up with Anne Heaton and doing a couple of gigs with her. I met both of these brilliant musicians at Folk Alliance in Memphis a couple of weeks ago and I'm delighted to get the chance to play for their audiences and hear their gigs. Since Memphis I've been in NYC, Boston, Madison, Minneapolis and St. Cloud. The Minnesota gigs were opening slots for Greg Brown who was accompanied by Bo Ramsey. Fantastic shows in great venues, The Cedar and Pioneer Place. Thanks to everyone who listened to my songs and took a CD home before wishing me well. Backstage at the Cedar there was a huge map of Ireland and the UK where musicians who had played there all left pointers to where they were from. Right there off the west coast of Ireland was written in familiar handwriting 'Cloghanover - centre of the universe!' I couldn't have agreed more and found it lovely that a meeting with Greg Brown in Campbell's Tavern, Cloghanover last summer had somehow landed me here in Minneapolis. My heart was warmed on a seriously cold night! I'll be back in a week and a half. More adventures to come 'till then. Hope this finds you all well
Noelie

I’m Playing at The Academy!
... And I need your help. Me and the band have been booked to play Dublin’s Academy on Abbey Street on Friday Nov. 21st. It’s the biggest gig yet for me and promises to be the best one too. Do come along on the night and help us to put the West back on the map! There’ll be a bus from Cloghanover and Tuam and back, details to follow shortly on this. Meanwhile if you want to book a place on it contact noeliemcdonnellmusic@gmail.com . It’ll be a great night altogether, I can’t wait.....
In other news I’ve been recording some new songs over the last few days which went well. Me and Brian and Liam Caff, Keith Mullins, Larry and Olivia lit the fire, plugged in and pressed record. I’ll need another while to get it into shape but it was a good start.....
I’m off to the UK with the mighty Sawdoctors for December. I’ll be opening for them on all their dates leading up to the Christmas there and then back for my own gig in the Roisin Dubh on December 21st. I’ll be heading back over the Irish Sea again at the end of January. All the details can be found on www.myspace.com/noeliemcdonnell ....
Issie and I were both delighted to hear ‘Nearly Four’ getting so much airplay and we couldn’t believe it when it got to number 15 in the Irish Charts. Wow! Thanks to everyone who downloaded it over the past few weeks. We are currently working on our next big hit although we’ve exhausted the nearly five idea at this stage and we’re moving on! … Sincere thanks to all x....
It’s gotten awful cold hasn’t it? Never mind, Christmas is coming. See ye all soon.....

Beyond Hard Places is now available to download from i-tunes ... I have yet to get an mp3 player but I do listen to music off my laptop more often now. I've been listening a lot to GREG BROWN over the past while and will be opening up for him in Campbell's Tavern, Cloghanover on 27th July as part of the Galway Arts Festival. Can't wait for his gig, should be a memorable one.
I'll be playing in Manchester at the Iguana Bar, Chorlton on Fri. July 18th at 9pm and in Clifden on Fri. July 25th at 8pm in the Station House Theatre. More gigs to be announced shortly.
The sun is back, if only for today, and I for one am enjoying it! Hope you are too, wherever you are,
Take it handy! Later, Noelie x

I've received a number of lovely comments and messages about the the recently posted songs and thought I'd just say a little bit about them and generally thank everyone who listens and has been listening over the past couple of years. So thank you! It's very encouraging to check the page and see that the songs are being heard and appreciated.
New York City is the only remaining song from the Noelie McDonnell album which was released in Ireland in Feb. 2006 ( and is still available on this page of course!! ) It's a song that people often ask me to play and represents the more solo side of what i do. With that in mind I've taken a selection of songs from demos that have been made over the past while, some of which are solo, some played with friends of mine who luckily for me are also fantastic musicians. Drifting and You Can't Give Up are the most recent songs and were recorded on a cold Tuesday evening in Nov. 2007 by John Flatley as myself, eimhin, will, larry, gert and new addition Muireann Cradock rehearsed for a christmas gig in the back of Campbell's Tavern. Winter and Broken Dishes were recorded in Pat Coyne's house in May 2007. Pat plays guitar with Sean Keane and is a world class musician and absoloute gentleman. He's got a myspace too. Check out my friends section. Finally It Won't Hurt was recorded along with nine other tracks in a day in the Hatch recording studio in England by Hugh and Ben in Sept. 2006. I had a great time there and even slept in a yert!
As I mentioned, all these new tracks are quickly made demos and were put down as a way of sketching and remembering as I hawked my guitar around the place doing gigs, trying to keep myself and hopefully a few others entertained! I'll continue to do that and let ye know where I'll be playing next. A new album is on the way. Hope you all enjoy these songs in the mean time Thanks again for lending your ears and keeping in touch. Spread the word and I'm sure I'll see ye all soon.
Lots a love, Noelie x
