December 22, 2009 - Tuesday

On Friday, December 18th Jason recieved the OK to play one of the Biggest Venues in the United States.

When Jason was just 5 years of age his parents took his family to see BIlly Graham and he had a special guest with him. After Billy spoke a while his special guest took the stage, Johnny Cash. He remembers looking around and seeing the people and seeing the man in black and all the "electricity" in the air. After the show Jason told his parents he wanted to play music and his mother's response was "If you work at it real hard, You too could play a place like that someday and I hope I'm there to see it."

On November of '08 Jason's mother suffered a bad stroke and nearing 75 her dream needs to come true so on Friday his mothers wish recieved the knod OK.

The second week of January the date and the details will be talked over and released here on Jason's myspace and the name of the venue will also be released then. Keep watch, It will surprise you!!

I've been a KISS fan since I was a kid and now KISS and Ace release their albums and so close together. Is that Daja Vu or What?

So let's begin with KISS' Sonic Boom!
The cover art is nestalgic to KISS' 1976 album Rock and Roll Over. Modern Day Delilah is the wrong song for KISS to be pushing on the radio but it is still one of Paul Stanley's better works. The album is full of Tommy Thayer impersonations of Ace's guitar work. The number 5 track "Stand" has a "God Gave Rock and Roll To You II" feel. The weakest track of the album is "Hot and Cold," Gene Simmons' lyrics are lack luster at best here. Eric Singer makes his studio vocal debut here with "All For the Glory" and he's doing his best to sound like Peter Criss' voice but the song's not bad. But the only track that I feel is ment to "piss" classic KISS Fans off is Tommy Thayer's vocal debut "When Lightning Strikes." Not only his guitar work is not original but he's trying to sound like Ace vocally AND on a song that has the feel of Ace's "Shock Me."

This Album musically should have been done with the original line up. KISS wasted time on Psycho Circus with the wrong guys to make that crap. This album is too good for the current line-up of KISS. So yes I recommend buying Sonic Boom.
Next Album:

After the long awaited time us Ace Frehley fans had to wait for the next Ace creation "Anomaly" finally satisfies many. Or Does it?! For me it's Ace's reflection on some of his life like the Track "A Little Below The Angels."
Ace did show no growth as a musician here on this album but when you are that good at expressing yourself on the guitar there is nowhere else to go but lyrically on some of the songs I admit he could have done better. The best song on the Album I feel is "Outer Space" and I might add that some of the songs on this album Ace uses drop D tuning which is kind of rare for Ace but he still loves half step down!
For Ace and his works I still put this album up there next to his Comet stuff. This is a great album that was entirely done on Pro Tools and the packaging could have been better in a standard jewel case instead of just cardboard but you can make a pyramid out of the package so, cool!
This Album is not up there with Ace's 1978 solo album but it is still great but I have to say that KISS' Sonic Boom wins this one just because Ace's song writing could still be better lyrically but as a guitar player Tommy can't touch him and KISS has realized that their sound is nothing without Ace's guitar so yes Tommy you are doing good at playing someone elses licks!!..........................Jason E.
August 23, 2009 - Sunday

Current mood:  happy

Today Jason played the Star Spangled Banner to kick off The 1st Annual John Galt Freedom Fest in Ovid Michigan. Jason was happy to be the first act to start the Festival with such an important song as our national anthem. It had the Hendrix vibe due to the 40th birthday of Woodstock and we hope that there are many more Freedom Fests in Ovid to come!

Jason would like to thank Carl Thorton and Steve Chapko for the oppurtunity for letting him kick off the Festival and Jeff Flynn at the Main!!...............Lightning Bolt Productions

August 11, 2009 - Tuesday
Many people in the music biz are con artists and scammers and I caught on to that quick in my times of playing music and songwriting. Before I started to write material for my first album I wanted to do it right and proper and I talked to a manager of a major label recording artist and I learned ALOT in the conversation!

First it is essential to get a REAL copyright on your material through the Library of Congress to prove that it is your material...

Second don't fall for the garden variety garage band ideal that if you use the "Poor Man's Copyright" that it makes your material safe because an example is this, I could send an unsealed empty envelope to myself in the mail and lets say it comes back to me. I then hold on to it for lets say 2 years and then I put a copy of the new material I just wrote today in the envelope postmarked 2 years ago does this mean the "Poor Mans Copyright"is fool proof? I don't think so and the Library of Congress can tell you so.

Third is once you submit your material for a REAL copyright your material is reviewed and processing takes from six months to one year and then in the mail you recieve a certificate of ownership of your songs!

To copyright material is well worth the investment and all songwriters songs should be worth more than just a 44 cent postage stamp!!

                                                                                Thanks, Jason
