I would like to thank everyone for a great year! The Festival Staff kicked much booty in putting everything together and overcoming the challenges. The Volunteers were very patient, hardworking, and driven to get things done. The Bands all put on great shows and were all very easy to work with. The Venues were very friendly and professional.

The BlackSun Festival is coming up in March, and we need a few more volunteers to help the Staff with Door/Ticketing, Merch, and Stage Crew. Door and Merch need the most people in order to divide up the workload; duties range from checking tickets outside and issuing wristbands to attendees, to herding traffic inside and getting water for people. Merch table duties are pretty self-explanatory; you must stay organized and focused, while selling t-shirts and other items to attendees.

Stage Crew is highly specialized, but if you have solid crew skills, let us know and we'll see if there are any spots needed. Crew people might also end up helping in a more general sense. In all, BlackSun Festival volunteers complement the Staff (we are all volunteers ourselves, too!) to help ensure that the Festival runs smoothly, and everyone has one hell of a good time in the process.

Volunteers must work at least 4 hours to receive a half-price ticket, or 8 hours to receive free admission to the Festival. If you have a favourite band, we'll try to make sure you get your time off to see them from the floor. Past year volunteers have always had a blast, and often return to volunteer again!

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Blacksun Festival IV is fast approaching, and we need volunteers to help with a few aspects
of the event. Past volunteers have enjoyed reduced admission to the Festival in exchange
for helping out over the weekend. Everyone has a great time, and the extra help is always
appreciated.

Volunteers are needed for front door ticketing, merch table, stage crew, and catering.
Street team volunteers are also needed over the next several weeks leading up to the
Festival, handing out flyers at concerts and clubs.

All interested volunteers MUST submit the following information to the volunteer
coordinator (tammy@NOSPAM.rubicat.com*) in order to be matched with a supervisor:

Desired placement (merch, Catering, etc)
Any specific skills/experience that might help us place you
Number of hours you are willing to work (average is 2-4 hours per night)

Day One of the festival will possess our regular 1920-30s edge, while Day Two of the festival will feature a distinctly gothic Victorian flair. In addition to our roster of sensational live entertainment, Dances of Vice will also feature a number of exciting vendors, an art exhibition, and a vintage Polaroid photo booth, with numerous giveaways and prizes to be distributed throughout course of the event. ROTERSAND NOTICE

"Unfortunately Rotersand and [:SITD:] will not be participating in this year's festival.

Below is the official statement from Rotersand:

"As many of you have realized by now, we have decided to cancel our
United States tour planned for March 2008 with SITD. The background for that
is the cancellation of two Canadian Rotersand shows in October 2007 on shortest
notice due to a combination of a huge personal workload and
constitutional weakness. Since we can not rule out a similar situation for the
originally scheduled shows in 2008 we have decided to not take this risk.

We absolutely hate cancelling shows and disappointing fans and
promoters, especially as we are well aware of the great demand for Rotersand
playing in the States and Canada. We are working on setting up a new timeframe for
touring activities in North America sometime in the not too distant
future."

Advertising space is now available in the official Blacksun Festival Program Guide. Each festival attendee will receive a free Program Guide featuring schedules, performer and exhibitor bios, an area map, and other relevant information. Placing an ad within is great exposure and a great way to support underground music and art. We're looking for international/national businesses that appeal to the Gothic-Industrial scene as well as local businesses (such as restaurants and shops) that attendees can visit during their three-day stay in New Haven. This is a national festival that keeps getting bigger and better every year, and the Program Guide serves as a major source of information for attendees, as well as a souvenir.
