I've heard the "wizard" is in North Carolina, so I'm off to see her!
Played a last minute show up in the hills of Ga. More amazing peeps!! This trip has just been loaded with them! I am so happy to be doing this. I met up with an old soccer friend, Lisa Kanter. We had lots of stories to share. Looked at old photos and caught up. Hopin' to hit an open mic tonight. Have a couple of stops to make on the way out.
Life is so beautiful!

Well, I hung around Nashville a bit and met some fantastic peeps! I saw some great music..
Josh Garrett and The Bottom Line from New Orleans, laid down some killer zydeco and more. Denitia Odigie, blew my mind! Great singer/songwriter with some Soul baby!
It's very cold here and I've heard snow mixed in Nashville and a tornado warning in VA. Not sure why I am talking about the weather so much. It's a family thing.
I am playing EDDIE's ATTIC tonight and meeting up with some people from high school! What a trip! I'm excited to play and getting incredibly excited to play at JEWISH MOTHER in Va. Bch. TUES. APRIL 14th!
Oh, just got news that a radio station in England is spinning "Simple" tomorrow!!! I cannot wait to go to Europe! They're on myspace Blast 1386 The Mark Watkins Music Show. You can find it on my friends!

So, I'm still tooling around in Nashville! I went to the Bluebird last night specifically to see Jim Weatherly! It's Tin Pan South a music conference going on featuring major songwriters with proceeds benefitting NASA (Nat'l songwriters assoc. of America) to protect and get songwriters paid fairly. Anyway, Jim wrote 3 big hits that Gladys Knight and the Pips recorded ( and some of my all time favs!) they are.. Midnight Train to Georgia, Neither One of Us, You're the Best thing ( that ever happened to me)! So I HAD to see him! You see, 3 years ago, i was flying home to VA. from Seattle and I had read in a magazine about this conference, and Jim was playing it then. I thought to myself, I wish I could go see this. So, imagine my excitement I just happen to be here on tour and have a few down days!
I MET HIM!!! It was so amazing to hear the story behind some of the songs and hear them how they were originally written. I also handed him a CD , and some of his friends who I was standing in line with to get in at the Bluebird!
It was a magical night!
Then, I go over to another club of songwriters and meet the best friend of Bonnie Bramblin's daughter. Bonnie was a vocal de force in the 60's with DeLaney. They played festivals with Janis Joplin and the Dead, and The Band. Becky Coltman, of Peculiar Boogie, sister Kim used to say i sounded like Bonnie. Very wild how the Universe clicks and rings when you just go out in to it!

Well, we've been in Nashville for a few days. We, I mean myself ( Lisa Marshall) and the Dirty Girls! ( Anne Leatherman, Susan Apple, Becky Fallon ) We played at the famous BLUEBIRD CAFE!
It was one the most fantastic evenings of my life!! It was a packed house, the staff was amazing,
Steve, our sound gentlemen, was so kind and professional!! What an incredible establishment. Founder Amy Kurlin, should really be acknowledged for her outstanding vision. The cafe draws people from it's reputation alone. One built on songwriter's, new music, always on stage. The policy is that once the performances starts, No talking! It is a singer/songwriter's dream. So, Thank You Amy!! (ps- many clubs should really take a look at this model- The BLUEBIRD has been a continuous full house for over 20 years!) What a dream come true! Thank you!
The day before, we experienced a lock down in Jack's BBQ due to a tornado warning, complete with sirens howling and an impromptu performance in the stairwell.
TONIGHT! we conclude our Nashville experience at LIMELIGHT 201 Woodalnd st.www.limelightnashville.com 615- 780-3099 10:30pm-1am. It's our last show...come on!!
