Hi guys!

Well, it's back to small stages and small venues again after the excitement of the Wizard Festival............... :D

We are supporting signed Dundee band Grace Emilys
www.myspace.com/graceemilys

and Cut Cut Shape
www.myspace.com/cutcutshape

Doors open at 9pm, we'll be hitting the stage first at about 9.30pm, which is definitely not too late for a school night!!!

Would be great to have your support, especially after having such a great time at the Wizard!!! As an incentive, if you send us a message/comment with your name we can add you to our guestlist, which means you get in for FREE!! Otherwise it will cost you £4 on the door!

So, for a great night of musical entertainment, and for free, head down to Snafu next Thursday from 9pm!!

Thursday is the new Friday afterall......

See you there.................:D :D

Cheers,
The Underkills x

Well Wizard mark 2 has been and gone, and it was bigger and better than last year!!

The fun started on the campsite, when we acquired loads of new fans who helped to spread the word, David got interviewed by STV, and then we headlined the Banshee Stage, and had our own little acoustic gig in our gazebo in the campsite on Friday night with guest appearances by the Little Kicks, some random who I spotted on stage with Proud Mary (!), and some guy from the Broch who writes dodgier lyrics than David............................ and all that was just on Friday!! On Saturday, there was slightly less action, but Eskimo Blonde, the Little Kicks and Kashmir Red were all brilliant!! The gazebo couldn't withstand the wind any longer and collapsed in a heap, almost taking Noddy with it.....!

The Underkills headlined the Banshee Stage on Friday night and it really was quite special.......... it was so good to walk out onstage and see the place absolutely ram-packed!! The tent was more than twice the size of the acoustic tent last year but we still packed it out despite clashing with Idlewild's Roddy Woomble!!! It was just a pity that everything was running late and we ended up clashing with Supergrass, which some folk just couldn't resist!!

Massive thank you to everyone who came to see us, even if just for the first half of the set!! I don't think anyone will argue with Plastic being the best song of the entire weekend! ;)

"Who the f*ck are Supergrass? Who the f*ck are Supergrass?" ;)

We will be seeing you next year, hopefully on an even bigger stage, with an even bigger crowd!!!!

Bring it on!

Remember to come and see us at Club Snafu on Thursday 4th September, and at Lemon Tree on Friday 17 October, when we headline Aberdeen's newest clubnight, "Indie-cent Exposure"!!

Thanks again, and we'll be seeing you soon!!!

Cheers, The Underkills

WIZARD FESTIVAL 2008

On Friday 22nd August & Saturday 23rd August (this weekend), the second Wizard Festival takes place beside New Deer.  Check out the link at the top for more details.  It would be great if you could show your support to the effort put in by the organisers by buying a ticket and spreading the word (just forward this email onto a few folk who may be interested!).  The organisers took a massive gamble and a massive hit last year by paying and organising the whole thing by themselves in the hope that it would take off!!  It was a huge success last year, and their efforts have been rewarded this year with some backing from the Evening Express, Carlsberg, Waves FM and a few other sponsors, but they still need to sell out the tickets!!!  From what I hear the ticket sales are going well, but there are still plenty up for grabs!  Tickets can be purchased online here:

TICKETMASTER

For this to remain a success and become a yearly event from now until the end of time, the tickets need to keep selling!!  It will only get bigger and better each year.........!!

The most exciting thing about this year's festival is the unbelievable line up it has managed to attract!

The headline act is SUPERGRASS, who I'm sure need no introduction...........

Other great acts include the Dykeenies (dubbed as the most exciting up and coming Scottish band - they're magic live!), the Damned, Alabama 3, Bluetones frontman Mark Morris, Seahorses frontman Chris Helme, festival favourites Proud Mary, the Cinematics, and loads of great local acts such as The Underkills, the Little Kicks, Eskimo Blonde, xCerts, Kashmir Red and Velvet Audio - plus many more - go and check out the line up at the website!!

(Got to get this wee plug in..............)  The Underkills are headlining the Banshee Stage on Friday night - we are onstage at 9.30pm, would be great if we could pack out the tent like we did last year!!!  We promise that it will be a great show!!!  We'll be offstage in plenty of time for everyone to go and get another pint and head up to the mainstage to see Supergrass bringing the Friday night to a close!!!

So, please buy a ticket, and spread the Wizard Festival word!!!

Cheers, and hope to see you about this weekend!! If you make it down, come and find us in the campsite for a beer and an acoustic sing song - we'll be hanging about a big blue gazebo!!

August 2008 means it's time for Wizard Festival Round 2!!

If you were there last year you will remember how bloody brilliant it was!!

Well this year is going to be even better!  If you don't already have a ticket, why the hell not!?  Go and buy one now from TICKETMASTER !!!

Last year saw The Underkills make their festival debut with a brilliant acoustic performance to an absolutely packed out tent, with some folk having to make do with standing outside looking in...........

Well..........more of the same this year, except the tent will be bigger, the stage will be bigger, there will not be an acoustic guitar in sight, the drummer gets to play instead of being a drunken onlooker, and we are HEADLINING the Friday night on the Banshee Stage!!!

At 9.30pm, Friday 22 August, The Underkills will be taking the curtain down on the Banshee Stage, half an hour after our set finishes, we can all toddle off to the Voodoo Stage to watch none other than indie legends, SUPERGRASS!!  This is going to be an unbelievable weekend!

Keep an eye out in the campsite for a big blue gazebo, that's where we'll be hanging out with acoustic guitars and beer..........

As a wee warm up and taster of what will be available at this year's festival, The Underkills will be joined by other Wizard artists
Eskimo Blonde
Velvet Audio
Little Kicks' frontman Steven Milne

at the first ever Wizard Festival Fringe Event at Cafe Drummond on Tuesday 12 August!!  Doors open at 8pm, so get your asses down to see what all the fuss is about!!

And as if that wasn't enough excitement for one blog, we are also supporting signed up and coming Dundee rockers
Grace Emilys
at Snafu's Dirty Hearts Club on Thursday 4 September!!

Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh, the excitement!! :D

C'mon the WIZARD!!!!

Post us a comment and tell us something to write a song about....

I (Calum) will pen some lyrics and if one of the more musically talented in the band (Elphi a.k.a. "The Genius" or Kennedy a.k.a. well, whatever you want really) can stick some notes together and turn it into a number one selling hit, we will dedicate the whole single to you and make you famous....

How about that!?

The Underkills have a couple of cracking new tunes in the pipeline!!

A Sad Song

The title is a little deceiving, as this is an upbeat number, with a very cool riff!  It's more like I Will Come Around than any of our other songs, and it looks like The Underkills are heading in a slightly new direction...

Once this bad boy is finished, it's going to add to an already rocking set!

Am I Mistaken?

You would not be mistaken if you thought this was another great song by The Underkills!  Exciting times are ahead... It feels like when the band started and the new songs were flowing all the time!!  When we make our comeback towards the end of the Summer, you will most definitely want to be there!

More songs are also in the pipeline, and The Underkills are going to go from strength to strength and become the best band in the world, before you know it....

Keep an eye on our blog for more updates of songs, gigs, news, scandal, etc etc.
