My name's Mike Schaller. About a year and a half ago I returned to my native Philadelphia to start a band with my brother Steve. I had been writing songs for a few years and felt it was time to do something with them, so here we are. It took us about a year of playing lots of shows and a couple trial recording sessions before we were ready to start working on our first record, and now we're right in the thick of it. We ended up getting some recording gear and doing it ourselves, and it's really been worth it. We have a couple weeks left of tracking and plan to start mixing in July. Steve's a great producer and engineer and I'm learning a ton. We can't wait to share it with you. We're looking at Labor Day Weekend as a release date. The album's going to be called "The Bellringer" and here's the track listing:
Rain On Me
Big Fish
Checkmate
I'm Not Gonna Work For You
Skyscraper
The Bs
Hallelujah Tonight
Utah
The Final Call
We've also been working on an EP called "Seek Kid." It's 5 songs that Steve and I wrote in the car driving from LA to Philly when I first moved home. This trip was kind of the beginning of our collaboration and we tried to document it the best we could musically. The tracks are called:
1) Spirit's Rise (Hoover Dam)
2) Low Overload (New Mexico at night)
3) Houston
4) Now You're in the Rearview (Nashville)
5) Mountain Towns (western Virginia)
We're excited to have something to share with you all and we'll keep you posted as we move forward.
Cheers,
Mike
Oh and if you haven't met the band, here's who we are:
Mike Gordon: plays the bass and sings. also writes creepy songs about little girls getting murdered.
Josh Fullam: plays the drums and is a robot.
Steve Schaller: does pretty much everything. guitar, keyboard, samples, singing, producing…
Mike Schaller: I write songs and sing them while I play my guitar.
