Event: Music variety show featuring local talent performing different genres of music: pop, hip hop, rap, rock, folk, and jazz

Also Featuring: 13 Love Stories exhibition. 13LoveStories is a unique multimedia advocacy project that profiles the moving stories of thirteen couples whose lives were profoundly affected by Proposition 8 - the recent ....California.... ballot initiative that eliminated the right of same-sex couples to marry.

Main Purpose: To raise money for the campaign to repeal Prop 8 and legalize same-sex marriage in ....California..... To bring people of different backgrounds and sexual orientations together in unity to support this very important societal change

Second Purpose: ..
Diaper Drive
..: to collect diapers for mothers on welfare who cannot afford diapers.

..Mission.. Statement: A wedding at which anyone can participate. A
wedding where everyone is invited. A marriage between tradition and modernity. A union between two seemingly opposing forces. An event that brings them together forming unity and mutual respect. A wedding for all.

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes diapers – to support the less fortunate in our community by providing diapers to those who can’t afford them.

Community Implications: Persons involved in this event will be able to hear from a variety of musical artists and connect with like-minded individuals in their community. They will also be able to use music and giving as a tool to reach across the geo-political spectum and find common ground in order to create new relationships.

The end goal of this project is to support marriage equality in ....California...., and involve/invite individuals in the community to be a part of a civil rights movement.

LIES & TIGERS & SWEARS, OH MY! A tacky Tiger Woods joke I just heard prompts me to ask something... why do we fake fidelity or hide desires for others or knowingly lock ourselves down into a commitment we just end up trying to break? To have kids? To remove the loneliness? Or because we are really in love and swear we cannot live without that person?

In a nation where CA's Prop 8 has taken away the very freedom that most straights abuse the privilege of and gay and lesbian couples so deserve to share, why do this to ourselves if we don't have the backbone to stick with it?

Marriage is a moral and societal choice to be taken seriously... it's a contractual commitment that supports family and legalities and bills; a piece of paper that some spouses need to feel they "locked it down." Well, unless your religious and you can't fornicate without it. ;)

I couldn't seem to hold onto that piece of paper nor do I feel I need it for my intimate relationships.
I have suffered divorce but would gladly marry any one of my best friends right now, and you know what, that marriage would last forever because it already has.
I have abused this marital privilege in the past and taken marriage for granted but gays cannot wed???

I ask your thoughts, whether married, living together, gay/..bi/straight... are you really that worried about gay marriage? I mean, how does this really affect those who oppose? Is it a tax thing or do you think you owe it to the man living on the clouds with the white beard to uphold "His" wishes?

And to be fair, perhaps you believe that approving gay marriage opens a door to all kinds of unrealistic possibilities like marrying your dog or having 5 husbands or getting married and divorced every time you fall in love.....again... this month.
Consider this: Most humans are not asking to marry their dogs and not all people want to start a marital brothel. Some just want to marry their best friend. Some just want the privilege that we straights have forgotten was our unquestioned right. How would you like your right taken away???

If I want to get married again, divorced again, sing a song about kissing a girl, or buzz my hair into a purple mohawk or wear a bright neon pair of pants but it hurts your eyes, you don't have to look at or listen to me. Just as I don't have to go to my cousin's fifth wedding or turn on the TV and hear about Tiger's latest and greatest.
Look, I support ALL MARRIAGES. Straight, Gay, Bi, etc. I also believe it's a spiritual universe where an exisitng God would be loving and accepting or ALL his creatures. And if met the right person I might do it again and build a family with that person.

With all that said, look at what our media and societal hypocrisy has come to:

"What's the difference between Tiger Woods & Santa Clause? Santa stop's at 3 Ho Ho Ho's!"

I don't envy Mrs. Woods life right now but this very thing is happening in many romantic relationships and marriages as I type this. I know people it has just happened to. We don't hear about those people on the news. Perhaps we should.

I am sure whoever penned this joke once swore forever to someone or spoke the words, "Til death do us part." They probably never lied or broke a vow to a loved one their whole life either.
Oh, and they're 100% happily married.
Ba Da Bum.
