Hey lovelies. A quick note to let you all know the fine folks at Blurt asked me to pen one of their 'The Most Fucked Up Thing I've Ever Seen' columns. Of course, now that it's been published and our last tour is over it is no longer even close to the most fucked up thing I have ever seen (that would be the Days Inn in Newark by the airport). But such is life, right? Enjoy it here.

I think I spent most of the beginning of my time songwriting running as far from the Replacements as I possibly could.  Paul Westerberg casts a hell of a shadow in these parts, and it wasn't that I hated them, I just wanted to do something different.  The charity that is putting on the Replacements tribute this Friday at 1st Ave and 7th Street Entry has helped a guy without whom our last record wouldn't have gotten made, Chad Weiss of the Devil's Workshop and much tour managing fame.  I'm not going to go into what Chad went through, but suffice it to say it would turn your hair white if I mentioned the details and it cost a shit ton of money in medical bills. These guys came through for him and helped him out.  So when we were asked to do this, we sure as hell weren't going to say no.

Somewhere between trying to figure out how the hell to take a gorgeous, unflinching song like Here Comes A Regular and do something good and new with it, and being reminded how jawdroppingly empathic and vulnerable I'll Be You is, I remembered Paul Westerberg can write a song, and why we all have to run so far and so hard to escape his shadow.

Here's to you Paul. We'll try not to embarrass you too badly on Friday.

Hey kids. We just crawled out of the van after our NY trip and one of the highlights was recorded by the estimable Jezz Harkin for his show. Check out the link below.

Current mood:  adventurous
So we're getting in the van tonight. The lovely Em is getting married while we're at CMJ (to Peter Anderson, drummer extraordinaire and engineer on Hearts We Broke) so our friend Liam Watkins of First Communion Afterparty fame is stepping into her capable heels and handling the guitar duties for this trip.  For that is how we roll in the Minneapolis indie underground.

Pretty Kids Collective's own Communist Daughter is flying out too, to join us at Westrocks NYC and Westrocks Williamsburg.  Check out our shows and come say hi.

We'd have said this yesterday but Myspace was absolutely buggered when we tried. So, somewhat belatedly, we have an announcement.

That being, the first official Pretty Kids Collective release dropped yesterday, it's in stores across the country and on iTunes (search 'hearts we broke' and you're right there), and we couldn't be prouder or happier.  It's called "The Hearts We Broke On The Way To The Show", and we hope you love it madly.

Yeah: MTV asked us to use some songs for '16 and Pregnant'.  'The hell is that?' we asked. Then we cashed the check.  Anyway, we're proud to be part of the problem.  Just remember not to spend the money for the crib on an XBox kids.

Hey kids.  This Saturday Pretty Kids Collective is doing a limited local release of our full length record.  We'll be selling some of them at the show, and  a limited number will be available at finer local indie record shops.  Expect a full national release by the end of summer, at which time you can smugly display the copy you got before your friends in Williamsburg twigged to it. Cos we love Minneapolis that much.
