Current mood:  hopeful
a call to arms!

friends, lovers, countrymen, music fans, a plea.

We could not be more excited to head out on the road again with our good friends in AssembeMe. The tour launches in Toronto on Oct 22nd at the Reverb and with EIGHT great bands it's practically a festival. Unfortunately we've been let down by a few people and a bunch of dates have fallen through last minute. if anybody has any contacts or knows of any shows happening in your town please feel free to pass on the info to us directly. we're ready to set some stages on fire.

Thask for your help.
we'll see you at the show.

And so it went.

FCR just played 4 nights in a row from Kitchener to Ottawa with a slew of great bands to a throng of great music fans. Big shout outs go to our bros/lovers in AssembleMe for making it happen and for rocking it so darn hard. More big shout outs to everyone who came to a show, sang along, danced their butts off, or just had a few kind words to say after the show. I gotta say that the warm reception from the crowd at Cafe Dekcuf in Ottawa was humbling and encouraging. The biggest shout outs have to go to a) Mark for nailing it so hard in his first to fourth live performances drumming with us. 4 weeks of practice paid off well. b) the family and friends who travelled a little extra to make it to Kitchener, Toronto and Kingston and c) to my mom who drove 12 damn hours from New Brunswick to surprise us and catch our set in Ottawa. Carol Smith, you get tour MVP right there.

And so it goes.

we're referring to this as "kinda like a tour" or our "practice tour". we tried it on and it fit well. We're counting down the days, making schemes, maps and plans for an anticipated 10 day stint with AssembleMe through Ontario and Quebec in late October.
Come to a show and say 'hi', or come to all 10 and say 'it's me again!'! we'll be pleased either way.

see you out there, sweating under the lights with a song in your ears and a song in your heart.

Current mood:  gallant
so much news.

THE GOOD
we're pleased to say that all of the instruments have been tracked for our EP(title yet to be revealed, so much mystery).
Big 'ups' to Dajuan, Luke and Allen on their hard work and some late nights (overnights) at Q-music studios. we'll be back in the studio soon to lay down vocals. we're excited, aren't you?!? we'll put up a sneak preview up on the myspace soon.

THE SAD

it's that time. It is my unhappy priveledge to announce that the talented Luke Leveille has stepped down from his thrown behind the drum kit in FCR-land. Luke let us know a couple of months ago that he would be leaving Toronto at the end of July for a while to work as a recording engineer on a couple of projects in his native Timmins, On. When Luke is done sprinkling his talent on these records he will be rejoining the ranks of Second Floor Escape ( www.myspace.com/secondfloorescape )who are coming out of hiatus and back to the stage. Look for a record from these guys late next year. We expect to be playing gigs with SFE as often as we can all over Ontario. We really do love these dudes. check em' out.

THE AWESOME!!!!!!!!
WE HAVE A NEW DRUMMER!! who is this mystery man?!? where did he come from?!? does he have an awesome origin story?!?! The answers to these questions will be revealed in time. We're booking some late August shows with the fine gentlemen in Assembleme ( www.myspace.com/assemblemeband ). come on out, rock on out, and meet the mystery man himself.

everybody injoy this summer weather.

-sincerely,

hey all.
Happy Easter and/or long weekend to you and yours.
To those of you that check this page frequently, sorry that we haven't posted anything more than show dates in a while. This is a big thanks to all of you that come to the shows and rack up the counts on the myspace music player. The counter rolled past 50 000 this week and it means a lot to us that you're still listening. We're currently recording a 6 track EP which should be ready mid-June if all goes as planned. We're looking forward to playing some new songs for you at our next couple of shows.
I've been entertained this week by several examples of "Engrish" online and on the streets of this great city I live in (saw a korean bakery with a "Bom Apetite" sign just yesterday) . So for your enjoyment (and mine) I've posted the lyrics to "Like A Song" below after being translated to Chinese and than back to English with an online translator.

Here's to a great summer. I'm gonna go put The Waking Eyes on the record player and barbecue something.
Be Well.

Looks like the song

likely beforehand many times…
Crawling in yours
gate,
 desire…”Takes back me”.

The way you smile, and smiles,
wears your
elephant heart attack love,
that beats.bleeds.does it my hemorrhage?

{folds sentence}
sometimes, I thought that if treats,
but I am
impossible to approve disease again.
Sometimes, I thought that if that
shakes your hand,
when you pursue the solar time,
very sometimes I
thought that if are more,
I am sometimes impossible to obtain me to
face the gate,
amounts to this me to know that I will face alone.

The
feeling song, is too likely long in the rack,
the loose lid and I go
flatly and smoothly.
CNN & BBC, all looks similarly to me…

The fire
and struggles the empire,
like a fish in water and starts to send the
odor,
cannot speak an elephant person, hangs from the string,
is me to
be sick and disabled, but is I is impossible to wink the eye.
The
onlooking campaign likes the onlooking traffic accident,
the onlooking
dissemination likely hot measles' war zone,
boils the pulse finger in
the hatred to be
thicker compared to the water, but thin ratio oil.

{folds sentence}
sometimes, I thought that if treats,
but I am
impossible to approve disease again.
Sometimes, I thought that if that
shakes your hand,
when you pursue the solar time,
very sometimes I
thought that if are more,
I am sometimes impossible to obtain my head
floor
to amount to this me to know that I will face alone.

Graceful you
let me come,
to have the wall legislative body to be so thin,
remit my
my sin.

Beside it changes crazy,
dim world smoky gray, dim and,
what do
I do attempt and preserve it?
{folds sentence}

sometimes, I thought
that if treats,
but I am impossible to approve disease again.

Sometimes, I thought that if that shakes your hand,
when you face the
solar time,
very sometimes I thought that if are more,
 I am sometimes
impossible to obtain my head floor
to amount to this me to know that I
will face the independent world.

Hey gang.

So things have been bitter sweet like my favorite chocolate in FCR land as of late. We've put some new tracks up (thanks for listening), we've been getting more online traffic and show offers than ever (thanks to you guys again), we're working hard to polish all of our tracks so we can put a record in your hands in the foreseeable future (you can thank us later) and we have a coffee maker in our rehearsal space for the long cold coming months.

so that was the sweet. the bittersweet is we announced last week at our gig at Holy Joe's that Sept marks the departure of Our Boy Blue. The drum throne is sadly vacant for the time being. Troy has had a great run with us this last year but his life is leading him away from music at this time. Troy let us know this was coming a few months ago and we're glad that he got to play 3 great shows in the last few weeks.

So wish Troy the best in his new adventures and rest easy because auditions are already under way with several interested parties.

and party we will.

Be Sweet or Die Tryin'

also I highly recommend dipping solid dark chocolate chunks in smooth peanut butter while drinking back coffee.
Heaven.

A Life Of Service
By Their Shallow Valley
Monday, September 08, 2008

The past few weeks have been absolutely CRAAAZY in FCR land.

The Labour Day weekend saw us in kingston playing at a comedy club called Time to Laugh. The event was a 10 band bill with 9 harcore bands and us. A seemingly frightening situation that ended really, really well

We would like to thank all our new freinds in Kingston for taking us in and showing us a really good time! We wil come back anytime you want.

When we got back from our Kingston adventure we had about a day to breath before we had to load our gear into the legendary Horseshoe Tavern for a monday-night-of-a-long-weekend fiasco of a show.... or so we thought.

Our freinds and fans showed us how awesome they really are by coming out in to hang out with us and cut a little rug. Thanks so much over and over, because y..all is so amazing!!

Also, we should have some new recordings up this week, just in time for the show at Holy Joe..s where we will be announcing some important news.

Finally, The NFL season opened this weekend and my NE Patriots won their first game... Brady is out with a knee injury though, after the first quarter. Not good. Not good at all!
