What the deuce! Completely original, downright spiffing brilliant indie rock from Simon Bradshaw et al. Their third offering is possibly their best so far Interpol, Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone Age (the list is endless) would all be incredibly proud to have made this Im sure. Think the Smashing Pumpkins (at their bleakest) versus Mansun (at their very best). Name checks aside, this is truly superb and destined for greatness. (5 stars)

Forget the effete jangle of Merseybeat, these Liverpudlian riff rockers boast more drive and dynamicism than one of Stevie Gerrards rampaging surges through midfield. Simon Bradshaws darkly brooding songs recall Placebo, Mansun, Muse and Jeff Buckley at their very finest. I bet they're awesome live too. (4 stars)

Second album from the John Peel favoured Scouse six-piece who recall the earliest days of the Stereophonics and Mansun when those bands still made urgent edgy rock and spun literate tales of local dramas. Frontman Simon Bradshaw sneers through songs about panic attacks, small talk and members of the congregation becoming porn stars, while his band build a pleasingly cacophonous noise, fuelled by hard riffing guitars and hard squalling horns. Its strident, stirring stuff. (4 stars)
