Well, the reviews of “Workers” are starting to come in, and we must say we are very very happy…here are some quotes and links:

“The peaks are higher, the hooks are more immaculate, and the energy coming off Jeremy Johnson, Andrew Osborn and Brandon Duggins is palpable. A career record.” -Jeffrey Lee Pucket, the Courier-Journal

“It’s a powerful piece of work…amazing how three guys can make so much noise.” -Velocity

“A band’s masterpiece.” -LEO Weekly

In other good news, the album is now also available as a digital download on iTunes, so you computer hackers can hear for yourself what all the fuss is about! Get it HERE.

Hello dear friends!

As you are all aware by now, we used to be Your Black Star. As we make to transition to get all our friends over to this site, many have asked why we decided to change our name. Really, the answer is simple. We hated it. It's a difficult name to explain to new people ("Your what?") and it's easy to get wrong. In truth we've wanted to change it for quite a while but never got around to it.

We like Workers because it's concise, and it really represents who we are as a band. We have a new album coming soon, and we can't wait to share it with you all.

Thanks!
Workers

"Check out this week: a NEW *FMTV* airing Sat night, 8/23, on FOX 5 @ 12:30am in NYC

Check out a *New* episode of Fearless Music TV this week featuring SEVEN great bands. It airs in NYC this Saturday night, August 23rd , at 12:30am on Fox 5. Not in NYC? Not a problem! Click here to see the ever growing list of cities that broadcast Fearless Music. Also, be sure to vote for your favorite band after the episode airs at FearlessMusic.TV. The winning band will air AGAIN on next week's episode.

The bands this week:

YOUR BLACK STAR (Performing: "Oh Jesus") - This Louisville, KY trio are atmospheric and anthemic, creating songs that seem perfect for long car rides with your friends or the theme song to a great night out. Formed in 2001, this band set out to build a fan base the old fashioned way: non-stop touring and trips around the world. They have played CMJ Music Festival, South By Southwest and shared stages with Sleater-Kinney and The Hold Steady. Their current release, Beasts, is available now.

THE JEALOUS GIRLFRIENDS (Performing: "Secret Identity") - A Brooklyn band that takes the sounds and attitudes from across the musical landscape to create melodies that stay in the head for days. Mixing new wave, Britpop and soul, The Jealous Girlfriends have a huge following, becoming one of the best-kept secrets in indie music today. Their self-titled record is out now and they are going out on tour with Shudder To Think this October.

CONSIDER THE SOURCE (Performing: "Do Not Shrink Me Gypsy") - What would happen if a fretless guitar were teamed up with a live percussionist, and a 5 string electric bass guitar? New York City's Consider The Source asks that question, blending together ethno-musical genres in a musical melting pot that reflects the city they call home. Drawing from diverse influences like Mos Def, Bach and John Coltrane, Consider The Source take listeners on a Middle Eastern psychedelic funk rock joy ride. Their self -titled EP is available now and they are on tour.

ALLA (Performing: "Es Tiempo") - This Latin psychedelic pop band from Chicago takes Brazilian Tropicalia, the Motown sound, Mexican music and run it through a 1960s pop production. The trio sought a means to create a sound that took all of their collective influences and was a tribute to their Mexican heritage. The breathy vocals of Lupe Martinez over the international beats and flavors from around the world create a musical surrealist dream backdrop. Their latest, Es Tiempo (It's Time) is available now.

THE BRIDE WORE BLACK (Performing: "Tonight I'll Look To Celestial") - This Queens, NY power-punk pop quintet combine rapid-fire delivery, hard guitars, synths and drums with a dash of pop goodness. Dance punk happy hardcore, The Bride Wore Black list their influences as New Found Glory, Depeche Mode, Saves The Day, New Order and The Backstreet Boys. They are currently in the studio working on new material, but in the mean time pick up their first EP, ¡PWNED!.

THE FUTUREHEADS (Performing: "Radio Heart") - Named after The Flaming Lips album "Hit To Death In The Future Head", The Futureheads formed in the UK in 2000 by singer Barry Hyde in his garage. They combine punk rock aesthetic with elements of harmony, pop and shades of New Order and The Clash. Extensive touring took them all around their native United Kingdom, playing Glastonbury Festival, as well as coming to the states to appear on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Their latest release, This Is Not The World was recorded in 3 weeks in the Sierra Nevada range in Andalusia. It is available now and they are currently on tour in support of the record.

**The Viewers Poll at FearlessMusic.TV will determine the final band"

We just headed down to Austin as is typical for March, but this year, we're skipping SXSW, and instead recording the first half of our new LP "Wokers." Among the songs we're recording are several which we previewed on our recent February tour. Expect a preview in the near future...

We'll be finishing the second half in the fall, and are hoping for a release date early next year. We'll definitely keep you posted right here!
