Current mood:  catalyzed
On Sunday, October 4th, Audiosyncracy will celebrate ten years of spinning the finest in contemporary instrumental music! Ten yesrs! Can you believe it? In October, 1999, the station took a chance and let me do what I'd been bugging them to do for ages and Audiosyncracy was born with 100 (ish) cds of my own. Now, the library is easily over 1,000 CDs and we're going to go diving next week!

The station has given me two hours (early start: 10 pm Mountain) and, for once, I get to preempt HOS, instead of the other way around! In those two hours, we'll be celebrating the very best music of our first decade and this is where you come in!

I'm inviting artists (and fans too, if you're so inclined) to create short little audio clips I can include in the show next week. I don't care how long they are, whether they're funny or not, produced or not. Just record a small audio clip of whatever you're moved to say and email an mp3 (preferably) to audiosynpodcast at gmail dot com. I'll try to get music from everyone who sends one into the show.

I hope you'll send me something.

...and you know who you are!

Finally, after working through some mic issues, episode 43 is posted. Trying something new with the formatting, so we'll see how it goes.

Jace Vek's latest venture, Live with Jace Vek on blogtalkradio.com/jace-vek is the feature. A track from Jace and his first guest, Jennifer Thomas, start it off. Some different sounds from Falling You, the pianos of James Cahall and Judson Hurd and the luscious layers of David Mauk round out the set.

Already lined up the music for episode 44, so look for it soon!

Stay dry!

Current mood:  awake
Hey my friends....

You probably thought I'd fallen off the face of the planet. Well, maybe down a flight of stairs or something. Of course, some of you are wondering, "you were gone?!?"

Time for a confession. I'm around. I'm just not here. My online social presence began here with MySpace a long time ago. It's been a great place to meet new artists and connect with fans. After all, that was MySpace's initial goal, before it was co-opted by the teenagers! Now, however, I spend far more time on Facebook and Twitter than I do MySpace. Part of the reason I'm not here so much is that MySpace is so noisy. Every page is an assault and no one reads the pages, they just look for the buttons they know are somewhere. Some of the friend requests I get....... just..... wow..... Anyway, part of MySpace's problem for me is their horrific iPhone app. I spent an hour composing a blog entry (yeah, try it on an iPhone) and hit Post. Yep, you can guess what happened. Gone. Poof. After that, MySpace got moved to the back of the line.

More of my time is now on Facebook. Not that it's a heck of a lot better (no, I will NOT be the 378,492nd person to support your cause!) but at least it's consistent. And my audience can visit my fan page without having to be assimilated into the machine as they do here. My Facebook fan page, similar to what I do here, is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Audiosyncracy/42724674412

I'm also found on Twitter: http://twitter.com/jameyo. I'm contemplating a Twitter feed for Audiosyncracy but so far I've found sufficient reasons for not doing it.

Finally, there are a few other places I can be found (mog.com, etc) but you should know that I'm serious about this music. I can often be found on the two new age-related "nings," http://newagemusicnetwork.ning.com and http://newagemusik.ning.com (more active on the former).

I don't intend to abandon MySpace; not by a long shot. No, I'll be around, but I hope you'll track me to these other places where I might update more frequently.

The podcast continues apace. I'm up to #42 now, which was a fantastic episode. Grab it if you haven't.

Be well my friends. And stay in touch!

Two new artists, Alicia Bessette and Cadence Spalding, are debuted. New CDs from Anne Trenning and Nick Farr join music from Fiona Joy Hawkins and Heath Vercher make up this episode. Enjoy!

The second go has nothing to do with the episode! It is already up and has been for a day now. No, the second go has to do with MySpace and it's #@*(@# iPhone app. It ate a blog entry that took 20 minutes to craft. Thanks.

Anyhoo, episode 39 is up and features six tracks in an interesting mix of piano, guitar and a little bit more. I think you'll like it. Music includes Laura Sullivan, Valerie Mih, Neil Jacobs, Lawrence Blatt, Stephen Peppos and Torben Thoger. They're all my MySpace friends and I invite you to visit their pages and add their music to your collection.

You've probably noticed a new graphic for the page and the podcast!  It comes courtesy of Photo Edits by Fireblyss and I think it looks awesome. Judging from the comments starting to appear, I think you must agree!

It's convention season, so it'll be another couple of weeks before you hear #40 but I'll crank it out as soon as I can. If you are or know of an independent artist who fits into the Audiosyncracy format, hit me up for airplay. I'm always looking for new music. If you're a listener who appreciates the podcast, I hope you'll share it with your friends. It's free and your friends might enjoy it!

Thanks for listening. I appreciate it.

Current mood:electracoustic!
So, I didn't quite make my goal of having 40 podcast episodes up by the end of the year, but I was close! Episode 38 is ready for your download! Fire em up!

A bit of an extended episode as I cram six tracks in, instead of the usual five. Three new artists join the fray: Jim Todd, Neil Jacobs and Denise Young have lent their support to the podcast and I hope you'll find their music worth purchasing. It's great stuff. The episode also includes tracks from Sean Dockery, Michele McLaughlin and Marc Enfroy finish out a great year.

Thanks for all of your supoort of the radio show and the podcast over the year! It means a lot when I'm contacted by a listener or musician. The reason for doing them both is to connect listeners with music and I'm excited when it actually happens.

2008 has been an exceptionally rough year, so forgive me if I wish it good riddance. I hope 2009 is an awesome one for you and yours. The Audiosyncracy radio show will have it's TENTH (!) anniversary during the year 2009 and I have lots of things in mind for the celebration. I'm going to actively solicit fan and artist feedback and words for a very special anniversary show that will air in October. I'd love to get your ideas for how to celebrate it as well.

For those of you who Twitter, I'm jameyo on there and I'd love to have you fo follow me. I'm also considering other places on the web to (re-)build the Audiosyncracy community as many don't have myspace access, nor do they want it. I'd love thoughts about that too.

Hope your holidays are happy and safe. See you on the flipside, folks!

Normal people slept. I recorded episode 37, the Holiday Episode!

:-)

Download to enjoy holiday tracks from Michael Dulin, Sherrie Keys, Doug Hammer, Ken Elkinson, Jillian Goldin, Matt Bachrach and Stephen Peppos.

I'm going to try to sneak in one more episode before the end of the year...

This music makes great Christmas presents, so head to these artists' sites and purchase some great music for those last-minute gifts or those "impossible to shop for" people! You know who you are! ;-)

Be well and happy holidays!
Saturday, December 13, 2008
Next week, on the Solstice (the 21st, for those that don't keep that score), the station has asked me to put together a two hour holiday special. I will, of course, oblige and am asking for your input. I certainly have plenty of music for the two hours (the station was seriously worried. I laughed. I have a BOX of holiday CDs! A BIG one.) but I'm asking my artist friends who would be interested in extending holiday wishes to my audience (and maybe even a *very* quick promo) can do so via recorded mp3. Just send a brief holiday greeting in mp3 format (mixed with your music or not) to my email address listed on the profile and I'll include it. It needs to be received by me next Wednesday, the 17th to be included. Bonus points and additional consideration given to those that mention the show name and get it right! :-)

Current mood:  rejuvenated
More than one of you have commented that I haven't been around very much...

Guilty....

I haven't been feeling well for more than a month. Putting off dental work is not really the smartest thing one can do and I paid a pretty significant price for that failure. I've been pretty miserable and today was the first day I haven't needed painkillers of some sort in a while.

The podcast languished, but it's back! Plenty of holiday music is coming in, but there's enough time for that. THIS episode features a new artist in the podcast fold: Sean Dockery. His new CD, "Sojourns," is a lovely exploration of musical landscapes and is doing very well on the NAR charts. Other music in this episode from Heath Vercher, Chris Bawiec, Stephen Peppos and Kevin Wood.

One more episode should pop out just prior to the holidays as I build a two-hour special to air on KTEP on the solstice: December 21.

What are you still doing reading this? Go fire up your podcatcher!

Go!

;-)

Thanks to feeling like crap for the better part of November, episode 35 is way overdue. I decided to push through it anyway and the result is now downloadable in your favorite podcast blender.

Featuring the music of the late Matt Bachrach, this all-piano episode also includes nice new stuff from Heath Vercher, Brian Kelly and Valerie Mih. Good stuff.

Matt Bachrach was a talented young piano player, a prolific recording artist, a father and husband and father and a good friend of the podcast. Heath told me to check him out and, after coming back from a road trip, Matt sent me many CDs and said "go for it." And it was easy to do! With an uptempo style and a road trip feel to many of his songs, his CDs were (and are) a joy to listen to. Add them to your collection and visit his MySpace page. Matt left us after a terrible freeway accident as he was returning home from a California business meeting. He's survived by his wife Brenda and two children and another on the way that he will never meet.

This has been a terribly rough year on us. Our music scene has seen the loss of two great artists (Artie Traum, the other), my brother and, just today, we found out that a high school friend of Stacey's was killed in a car wreck in Atlanta. Take time this holiday season to tell those around you that you love them and how thankful you are that they are in your life.

On the personal side, I'm still fighting pretty significant toothache but the worst seems to be behind me. I feel like I haven't been "right" since August; things have been topsy-turvy ever since that fateful morning I got the call. We're hosting Thanksgiving this year, for the very first time. Stacey and I are ready though. One day soon, I'll blog about the saga that involved the new refrigerator! :-) We've taken down three coats of (ugly) wallpaper in the kitchen, repainted it and the front room (now to get some furniture in it!) and the house is finally ready. I think it's going to be a holiday to remember for many reasons!

I'll try to get one more podcast out before the Thanksgiving holiday. Please tell your friends about the podcast! It makes an inexpensive holiday gift! :-)
