Ok...this is exciting! This Wednesday, April 8th, Jars of Clay is stopping by the RELEVANT offices here in Orlando. They will be playing a special acoustic set for a lucky audience of only 30 people.

Want to come? Here is what you have to do:

Email me, Chad, at chad@relevantmediagroup.com by Monday (April 6th) at 3:00 EST. Tell me where you would be coming from and why you should be chosen to see this great set. 15 winners will be drawn from all entries and will receive a pass for 2 to see Jars of Clay play in our office.

If you win, you will receive an email from me on Monday by 6 pm EST. You will given all the instructions at that time and the specific time to be here. It will start in the late afternoon.

Please only enter if you know you can be here. You do not want to miss this. Email me today and be sure to check out their upcoming album, The Long Fall Back to Earth.

Good Luck!

Hey Friends!

We need a little help. Our podcast is going up very late for various reasons and we record the next episode tomorrow. The issue is that it doesn't leave enough time to get feedback for  the new episode. So, that is where we need you!

Do you have a restaurant horror story? More than you found a screw in your salad. Some horrible experience you had at an eating establishment? We want to hear about it. E-mail feedback@relevantmagazine.com and tell us! (Also...if you are comfortable with us calling you to talk to you about the experience, leave your phone number)

Thanks for your help!

Chad from The RELEVANT Crew

"What if you could meet the people who made your clothes–the
twentysomething girl in Cambodia who frayed your jeans, the single
mother in Bangladesh who stitched your T-shirt, the husband and wife
who glued your flip-flops?

And what if they welcomed you into their homes, let you play with their
children, and prepared meals for you over gas stoves during power
outages?

How would you thank them?

In my book
Where Am I Wearing? A Global Tour to the Countries, Factories, and People That Make Our Clothes,
I traced my five favorite items of clothing back to their countries of
origin. I was overwhelmed with the hospitality of the workers I met,
and a simple, “Thanks for making my boxer shorts,” just didn’t seem
appropriate, so I tried to come up with unique ways to express my
gratitude. In Bangladesh I took 19 kids and one old man to an amusement
park. In Cambodia I took eight garment workers bowling. But In China I
faced a unique challenge...

"Two hasn’t been a kind number to Mae.

This fall marks two years since two members left the band. Their last
two records have come out on two different record labels—and now
they’re currently label-less. Combine all that with the current state
of the music industry and they definitely have too much on their mind.

But a simple redirection of their gaze has infused enough passion for the rest of the year.

Instead of focusing on the downs of the past two years, the remaining
three members of the pop/rock outfit looked outwards—and they found
fuel.

“The vision for this project came from the obvious chaos going on in
the music business,” says Dave Elkins, the lead singer of Mae. “Instead
of waiting..."

"The word on the street is leave early and dress warmly, so Natalie and I are at the American University bus stop at 5:15, stomping our feet and blowing into cupped fists along with a cluster of students. After 30 minutes and no bus, two facts are dawning: 1) it is seriously cold, and 2) inaugural logistics are getting off to a bad start. We finally get a ride; two stops later, the overflowing bus has gone express, blazing past dismayed crowds waiting down the line for a ride.

There’s still not a hint of daylight in the sky when we’re dropped off about a mile from the National Mall, where we join..."
