>>>>>>> 2009 in brief >>>
January started in fine style, promoting an indoor festival at Tate Liverpool, in the International Festival space, as part of the Tate's Fifth Floor exhibition. In association with Wolstenholme Projects and Beaten Tracks, and a little help from Culturepool, a baby roadblock was created and the gallery appeared to have been drunken dry, but a good time was had by all.
We had some great shows at our spiritual home, the View Two Gallery.
Along with our friends at Evol, we were delighted to bring the excellent Mumford & Sons to Korova.
Ragz and TJ & Murphy played to a sold-out Bluecoat theatre.
Along with Liverpool SoundCity! we brought the lovely Blue Roses to Liverpool.
With Beaten Tracks, we returned to promote the second 'Above the Beaten Track' festival, building on the success of 2008's event and bringing a host of musicians and artists to the View Two Gallery. We helped Culturepool celebrate their 3rd birthday, (yes 3 already!) and we helped Draw the Line to draw the line. We had amazing performances from far too many people to mention here, to make this day such a special event.
We helped Ceremony Concerts promote the amazing John Smith at the Bluecoat. Twice.
We helped Squared Circle (
http://www.squaredcircle.co.uk - a new, Liverpool-based management company) launch at LEAF, with the fantastic Dead Cities.
The end of the year was spent collaborating with festivals, including Liverpool Music Week, NICE Festival, and we probably should have pulled our finger out a bit more in supporting the excellent Folk & Roots festival.
We were also invited to produce a playlist for Tate Liverpool’s Sculpture Remixed exhibition, in association with Hemingway & Son's Silent Disco. If anyone would like to know what nuggets we selected, please get in touch.
>>>>>>>>>>> 2010 >>>>
We will be back nice and early next year, and in association with the Masque, we're presenting Delta Maid on Friday January 22nd with support from blueswoman Naomi Mather, and Mellowtone favourite SJ Downes.
On February 24th, we have a very special guest returning to play Mellowtone - so watch this space. And we'll be back at the View Two Gallery again with a few lovely local line-ups early in the year.
Thanks for reading this far, it wasn’t supposed to be such an odyssey, so if you feel you deserve a belated Christmas gift for your troubles, please reply, and
we should have one ready for you by the time our next shows begins. Be quick though - supplies are limited!
Have a great Christmas and New Year, and hope to catch you all in 2010. Peace.
all at Mellowtone Xx
