Current mood:  working
Greetings in 2009 from WILX!  Thank you for all your support last year, as we have continued to grow musically and as an organization.  Our latest studio release, Didactic Dichotomy, was released in September 2008, and continues to receive great reviews – Athens local FLAGPOLE magazine calling it “A celebration of sophomoric debauchery and hook-filled rockers that gently navigate the border between ballad and darkish dirge.”  We shared the stage with national acts such as The North Mississippi Allstars and Perpetual Groove, playing to sold-out crowds in our old hometown of Oxford, MS, as well as Columbus, GA.  As WILX continues to evolve in the New Year, we would like to inform all our friends and fans that guitarist Grant Mitchell is taking a few months off from touring with the band for personal and musical reasons.  The band will continue to play into the spring as a power trio, with various new musical methods being incorporated into the blistering live shows.  The first show in our hometown of Athens, Georgia, will take place this Friday, January 16th at the Caledonia Lounge with friends Elijah (winner of the 2008 Flagpole Up and Coming act award).  We expect this to be a monumental year and hope to see you on the road!

WILX is pleased to announce that on Saturday, June 21st, we'll be part of this year's annual ATHFEST, a hometown music and arts festival. WILX plays from 4-440pm on the main stage in downtown Athens, Georgia. Immediately following the set we're hauling up to Columbia, SC, to play at 5 Points Pub.

AthFest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit annual music and arts festival in downtown Athens, Georgia that largely showcases the Athens area musical and artistic community. Much of AthFest is free while wristbands or cover charges are required for certain events. AthFest's mission is to educate citizens and visitors about music and arts in general, and about Athens music and arts in particular.

Well, we had a fun Spring run and hope that all of you, who were able to attend a WILX show Jan-April, had a great Spring also .

We were able to get into some new venues and towns, and it was great to see some familiar faces, as well as make some new friends, . Thank you guys and gals, from Raleigh to Baton Rouge, for being awesome and supporting live music. If you liked what you heard, we will be posting some of our Spring recordings on various music sites.  If you don't see us on a site, let us know.

The time to write a new story in the books for WILX has come again.  We will begin work on the new album tomorrow, 4/29/08.  We'll be running some Live tracking at a venue in Athens to breakdown some Tour ideas and work-shop some of the latest WILX tunes.  We showcased three songs over the last month and can't wait to get them on disc, or should I say DOWNLOAD.

But the real news is that we have TWO WEEKS until we start working with John Keane.  We are really looking forward to this project and we'll be working hard for the next two months. We have some shows but, for the most part, we'll be takin' 'er easy as far as traveling is concerned.

Be on the look out, cause we might put some samples of the new Album on our Myspace.

Thanks for all the support,

WILX  ___         Grant, Hayden, Taylor & Wilkes

WI LX will be going into the studio in mid-May and June.  The previous recording projects that WILX has done were all done in Mississippi with Tweed Recording Studio and now they will be working with an engineering icon, John Keane .

Recording at John Keane Studios with John Keane (REM, Widespread Panic , etc...) will be a new canvas fo r what WILX's newer sound has become.  As said before, WILX had a few recor ding sessions, but none of which were ever released.  ; These and the live recordings have helped WILX further develope a unique, thick rock sound.< /p>

Stay tuned for more
