Hey folks...Johnny here.  Just wanted to send out a big welcome to our new bass player Christian Grizzard.  Christian is originally from the Atlanta GA area and now makes his home in Franklin TN.  Christian made his debut with the JHB on the first leg of our '09 Loud and Proud Tour.  Christian makes a great addition to the band and the boy can flat out bring it!  Check out youtube for recent video clips.

For those of you wondering about Mike Hill, he is now in California and keeping busy playing.  The JHB will always love him as a brother and wishes him continued success in whatever musical ventures he pursues.  Rock on Mikey B!

Last but not least, keep a check on the upcoming dates as we may be in a town near you.

Blessings!  Johnny

Hey folks...Johnny here. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been thru a really tuff year with the loss of my mom in 2008. The changes in the economy didn't help either. Now, in 2009 I am ready to kick total butt. The JHB is ready to hit the road. "Loud and Proud" is now to have interantional distribution. I have a new manager. I'm currently making necessary steps to tour Europe this year. I am also now working with TrueFire to bring a new instructional dvd within a new packaged set to showcase the JHB on a personal level, the gear we use, and a new live show dvd. More details will come soon and I just want all my fans to know that I am back on my feet, pickin' hard, and ready to come to a town near you. 2009 is going to be a tremendous year!!!!

Music: Even with his busy travel, performance and teaching schedule, when in Nashville Johnny finds time to work on writing music for his upcoming new record and spends much time in the studio laying down all the tracks himself.

Column: In the spring of 2006, Johnny began writing a new monthly educational column, "Here's Johnny", for Musician's Hot Line Magazine. This column features lessons, hot tips and recommendations tailored to the magazine's guitar playing readers.

Children's Book: Johnny has written an inspirational children's book designed to help children believe in themselves and achieve their dreams. Drawing from his own personal experiences, Johnny incorporates the love of Nature he learned growing up in rural Maine with his own challenge finding his way as a legally blind person in a sighted world. Johnny has created a rich cast of lovable and imperfect woodland characters who help each other find their place in the world. Not only has Johnny written the text but also he has, over time and suffering migraines headaches to accomplish the task, brought the characters and their woodland home to life through beautiful illustrations.

Promoting Music Education:
Johnny has threaded promotion of Music Education throughout his work. Whenever possible, Johnny builds teaching dates into his tour schedule and has, by now, taught at all the major music schools in this country and many abroad as well. This year Johnny was invited to be a speaker to an entire middle school student assembly in Maine. Johnny accepted and provided a motivational speech for them using his own life experiences. Johnny's Jan 07 column in The Musician's Hot Line Magazine advocates for the importance of public school music education programs by explaining the importance of these programs in Johnny's own life. Johnny wrote this column after learning about Music For All Foundation, an organization that works, among other things, to raise money to promote and preserve music education in public schools. Johnny is pleased that PRS has donated a Johnny Hiland Model PRS guitar for auction in January during the Winter NAMM Show 2007 to raise money for the Music for All Foundation.

Locally: Although very busy, Johnny always wants to remember his local fans. With this in mind, The Johnny Hiland Band (TJHB) now has a regular performance schedule at Third and Lindsley, a local listening room here in Nashville where he performs regularly when he is in town.. Other local performances included an April performance at 12th and Porter where Johnny and the Band revisited the famed Billy Block Show and a July live radio performance and interview for the Greg Martin (of Kentucky Headhunter's fame) Show. Also in July, Johnny presented his Johnny Hiland Seminar for the third consecutive year at the National Guitar Workshop in Nashville, TN at Middle Tennessee State University. A major highlight of Nashville performances was Johnny's June guest performance on stage at The Starwood Amphitheatre playing with friends Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and the Waboritas Band. We always try to let our local fans know in advance of local performances with postings on the website so keep checking the website for those local listings. Another opportunity for local guitar player fans is that, when he's not on the road, Johnny is available to teach private lessons here in Nashville.

Nationally: In January, The Johnny Hiland Band appeared at the Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. The Johnny Hiland Band performed two shows for maximum capacity audiences for NAMM. Also during winter NAMM, TJHB performed at the House of Blues and The Paul Reed Smith Show. At the PRS concert, Paul Reed Smith personally presented Johnny with the very first Johnny Hiland Model PRS guitar. After the NAMM Show, Johnny taught a Master Class at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA. In May, The Johnny Hiland Band appeared in concert with Paul Reed Smith and his band, The Dragons, in Riverside, CA at The Voodoo Lounge. In June, The Johnny Hiland Band performed at the Buffalo Niagara Guitar Festival on Saturday and the next day Johnny served as an invited guest on an esteemed panel of judges for the festival's North American Guitar Contest. In August, The Johnny Hiland Band was back in Mill Valley, CA where good friends Tom and Sara Finn promoted The Band's performances at the Throckmorton Theater and the next day at the Guernville Street Festival. In October, The Johnny Hiland Band performed at the state of Maine's huge Fryberg Fair. A major highlight of the national performance schedule occurred in October when Johnny performed with Steve Vai, Joe Satraina and Steve Luthaker and other all star talents for the Cliff Cultereri Benefit at the Hollywood House of Blues.

Internationally: In March, Johnny traveled to Mexico City Music Fair for four days of performing and teaching clinics to promote the release and sale of The Johnny Hiland Model PRS guitar . From Mexico City, Johnny traveled to Frankfurt, Germany for the Musikmessa Trade Show where he again performed and taught clinics to promote the release and sale of the Johnny Hiland Model PRS guitar. A highlight of the international dates was the October and November tour of Germany, Austria and England performing and teaching clinics at major music retailers again to promote the release and sale of The Johnny Hiland Model PRS Guitar. While in England, Johnny taught a Master Class at the Academy of Contemporary Music.

Current mood:  accomplished
January 10, 2007 – Johnny Hiland will be treating fans and music industry leaders to a number of high-profile performances and trade show appearances this January, while continuing to develop material for his next album on favored nations records. During a highly successful year in 2006 promoting his self titled debut album, Hiland was able to lend his guitar stylings to many a stage and studio around the world, while still making time to instruct Master Class workshops at some of the world's leading music schools.

Beginning with the NAMM musical merchandise tradeshow in Anaheim, CA, January 18 – 21, Hiland will be making special guest appearances at the PRS Guitars, Music Sales Videos, ISP Technology and Visual Sound booths, signing autographs and probably trying out the latest gear from his loyal endorsers. Hiland is scheduled to perform at the PRS booth on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for his usual standing-room-only appearances playing none other than the PRS Johnny Hiland Signature Model guitar. One of these guitars is being donated by Johnny and PRS to the Music For All Foundation which supports music programs in public schools, while another is being donated to the Music For Life Alliance, part sponsor of Muriel Anderson's All Star Guitar Night in which Hiland will be performing once again. Additional performances off of the show floor will include spots at the annual PRS party as well as feature after-hours performances at the Hilton and Marriott. (Complete schedule details below.)

To finish things up in California before headed back to Nashville, Hiland will be making his annual appearance at GIT Musicians Institute for a Master Class and performance with the Johnny Hiland Band.

In other news – NBC Channel 4 in Nashville recently completed a feature Hiland interview for their soon to be released TV show "Nashville Music and More". This new entertainment program will air on Saturdays 6PM starting Jan. 27, 07. The Hiland segment feature is now being scheduled for airing. Stay tuned to johnnyhiland.com for further details. Additionally Johnny Hiland's image with his new signature model PRS guitar now appears on a billboard located above the Sub Stop restaurant near the intersection of West End and Broadway located in Nashville.
