In February Previews you will see the solicitation for Volume 1 of Morbid Myths! It will be in comic stores in April 2008! It is 104 pages and published by Alterna Comics with the art and story by Hard Way Studios. The Diamond Order Code is: FEB08 3421 Page: 210You can read a little more about it and see some sample pages here:
Here are a couple of excerpts from Reviews of Morbid Myths:
The artwork was well paced and brought out the emotions that each character was experiencing. As far as the Job the narrator goes, he ranks right up there with The Crypt Keeper. - Gary Rodrigue (Comicnews.info)
There was some really sharp monochrome artwork in this issue. If this team will be on-board for the duration of the series, it'll have a very quality look to back any future content. - 3 star review by Alex Haas (Indycomicreview.com)
...could easily fit in between the worlds of Army of Darkness and Shaun of the Dead... (Morbid Myths 1) Mixing a smartly dark sense of humor with absurd curiosity... (Morbid Myths 2) - C Zuga (Skullring.org)
The characters immediately draw you in. They may be weird but they definitely are likable. You'll find yourself instantly caring about them. - 5 star review by Richard Vasseur (Jazmaonline.com)
...a richly etched-out and stunningly well-inked ongoing series... - Wizard Comics Magazine (Top 40 Indie Must-Reads of 2007)
The art by Dwayne Biddix is cool, indie realistic black and white stuff but he really does make the story flow along, keeping your attention page by page. - 8/10 review by Iann Robinson (Former MTV VJ)
Morbid Myths is lighter than most EC comics, and takes itself less seriously than The Twilight Zone ever did, and because of its tone, and lack of pretension, ends up being more enjoyable, as if it isn't a comic anthology at all but a series of well known urban myths being told around a camp fire. - 3 star review by Josh Buchin (Silverbulletcomics.com)
Overall, Morbid Myths is a great effort with great art, good pacing a good horror comic host — and some good stories. - T.E. Pouncy (Geeksofdoom.com)
While neither of these stories are necessarily (in my jaded opinion) "scary" in that "sends you screaming from your bed at night" sense, they do get under your skin and lay into you with a vague disquiet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's good horror storytelling. - 4 star review by Alex Haas (Indycomicreview.com)
Make sure to go to your local comic store today and tell them you want to PREORDER this comic from them that they must order it for you! Look for Volume 2 coming later this year! Thanks and we hope you pick up a copy and love it as much as everyone else seems to have so far!
Also, check out our other comics in Previews Catalog in Feb! Go to http://www.hardwaystudios.com/solicitations to see all the solicitations by month!
Thanks and we hope you enjoy all of our books!

Current mood: cheerful
Just got back from the Collectors Comics Convention in Port St. Lucie!
Let me tell ya first of all... I didn't even know I was slotted to be at this show... I knew that Keith Mallow (the show host) tried to reach me, however I got that message quite late and figured that since I hadn't gotten back to him, that I would probably have been cut from the attending roster anyway... then my bud and fellow Cadre Corner Studios founder, Chris "cannonball" Lesley calls me from the Orlando Con asking me why I didn't tell him about the show I was to attend in October. Surprisingly enough, I responded with... "I'm not doing anymore shows this year as my schedule shows... haven't signed up for any thus far." He told me, "Well, I'm looking at this flyer that has your name right on top above legendary artist Herb Trimpe and right next to John's (John Beatty: inker extraordinaire)." I said, "WHAT?" Well, to my surprise, Keith had made these cool flyers (see below) and sure enough, there my name was. How could I NOT attend now I ask you? lol.
I then asked Chris if he was willing to go with me as I hate long drives as they tend to make me tired... long story... lol. Luckily, he said sure and we were on our way. The show was held the same place it was the first time I went which was a nice place and such... unlike the second show where Keith was mislead to believe things that weren't true. Shame on them. That second show was a wash as a result... felt bad for Keith on that one. He's a great guy from my experiences with him and deserves a show to represent his kindness and showmanship.
Well, we arrived at the Community Center that the show was held at and was greeted by a nice sign made by Vital Signs outside being hung up. I was like... coolness man... doing it right!
Walked in, greeted Keith who was surprised I showed due to my slackness of getting back to him... needless to say, I received much deserved grief over that. What can ya do?... lol. Found out where we were to sit and started bringing stuff in. Unlike the first show, Keith was able to arrange a room that had a large stage area (wow right?) and all of us "artists" were situated up on stage like a main attraction... too cool. Perhaps it was more like a freakshow... oh well, I'll take whatever I can get... lol. So, anyway, Chris and I got set up, with SIGN and all! Also in attendance was the greats Herb Trimpe, Alex Saviuk, John Beatty, Big City Comics, as well as others...
We got to meet some young talent while there... seeing portfolios which is always cool and a highlight for me at shows. I love seeing what people are producing and to lend a hand if/when I can from my limited knowledge and experiences. A major plus to say the least. Never know, perhaps some of them will become "family" members here in the Corner... that is always nice as well. Never have too much family I say. :D
Well the photos below were taken after the show at a Golden Corral where Keith hosted a little get together as GC was one of the co-sponsors of the show... can't go wrong with all you can eat buffets'... lol.
From back left to front right: Herb Trimpe, Keith Mallow, John Beatty, Chris "cannonball" Lesley, front: (sitting) Steve from Vital Signs and lastly me, Jesse "Cadre" Hansen. Glad my visage didn't break the camera... lol.
Oh, one more thing real quick before I forget... I'm NOT THAT SHORT! I always tend to get in the front and as I don't want to block anyone out, I always squat or something to allow plenty of face room for others... just in case anyone wondered... lol.

God's Growth (from an email I received.. felt like passing it along... hope you like) It's officially Fall! People have already begun to prepare for Halloween with decorations, corn shucks, Indian corn, hay bails, and pumpkins. This was the first year that our family grew pumpkins. We planted them back in April, just before Easter, and the goal was to grow one that would weigh one to two thousand pounds, thereby being in contention for a world record! We did not get much rain this summer, but we did get some bugs! I had to put pesticide on them two different times. Because of the drought, we had to water them in the evenings. All of our hard work and cultivating failed to yield a world record-holding pumpkin. They are probably too small to even sell in the corner market! Fortunately, salvation is not limited to our ability either. Neither is it contingent upon our education, wisdom, acumen, or anything else. People's souls are under God's control. He is the one that does the saving. He is the one that quickens our spirits. He is the one that gives life to those who are dead in sin (Eph 2:5). There is nothing wrong with ability, charisma, knowledge, etc., but it has no bearing on the salvation of someone's soul; that way it takes the human factor of pride out of the whole process (Eph 2:8-9). Man is simply an instrument in the hands of a supernatural surgeon who performs the miraculous heart transplant! This contention was cleared up and settled by Paul in his letter to the Corinthians. There were divisions within the local church and one of them involved the leadership of Apollos versus the leadership of Paul. Apollos was an effective preacher from Alexandria who had also ministered to the Corinthians which stirred a fleshly division between the immature believers. When Paul writes to them, he settles the dispute by proclaiming: What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. (1 Cor 3:5-7) That pretty well sums it up! Men and women can only plant and water… the growth of the seed is all up to God. That takes a lot of the burden off of us too. God only asks that we plant and water the gospel seed. John 6:44 reinforces how much God is in control of the process. Jesus says, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." What we are unable to do, God does with His grace. He can soften a hardened heart like the sun can soften chocolate! So what shall we do then? If God does all of the work, what is left for us to do? Well He does not do all of the work. He has left us with the great responsibility and privilege to take the gospel seed to the fields (Matt 28:19-20). He is actually shorthanded these days too. For Jesus says, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest" (Matt 9:37-38). If you have been discouraged or rejected in your recent evangelistic efforts, don't be. God takes care of the difficult part! If you have failed to share the awesome news of the gospel with others because you don't feel qualified or you are intimidated by potential criticism or derision, fail no longer. God takes care of that too! If you feel the urge to share Christ with someone… then you can be sure God is, or will be, working on that person's heart too! He wants the harvest to be huge, so don't be afraid. Maybe next year, we'll also leave the pumpkin growth… to God!
