Current mood:  peaceful
Hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July! Farhan and I went on a fireworks cruise, so we could watch the fabulous Macy's fireworks from the river and not from the banks, where there were about 3 million other people grappling for the perfect view.

It was an overcast day, and I prayed it wouldn't rain. But it did. Oh boy did it rain. It was only about 75 degrees to begin with, and it got very chilly once the sun went down! I've never been cold, wet, and shivering on the 4th of July before.

I got a drink spilled on me by the vice president of Merril Lynch, who was beyond drunk. But the rain and the spray from the toxic East River quickly washed the vodka smell away.

I know what the East River tastes like. That just turns my stomach.

The photos I took of the fireworks turned out horribly. Just blobs of color, really. But that's ok.

I finally broke down and got a big old honkin' NYC purse. The kind that I saw people with when we first moved here and wondered what they might possibly put in them, they're so big.

And here it is, my new purse! ^^ I got it from a street vendor for $40. It's a knock off, obviously, of a Dolce and Gabbana design.

And well.. I love it. It's HUGE. And things keep getting lost in it. But I am sure I'll get used to it and never want to have a smaller bag. I am thinking about getting another one soon. They're cheap, so why not?!

Things here are going well.  We've been meeting people and discovering new places that we like. The weather has been good, not too hot like it is already down in Georgia!!

We're going to go to Coney Island soon, that should be fun. Last weekend we went to the Natural History Museum and had a really good time learning about all sorts of stuff. I have some photos over on my NYC blog (Just message me for the link!). ^^

Current mood:  grumpy
So I slept late today which has left me feeling groggy and out of sorts. My neighbors constant barrage of noise makes me feel even more out of sorts, bordering on manaical.

I've been having issues with my downstairs neighbors since the day they moved in. And I think they're driving me insane.

Yesterday the loud music started at 8:00 in the morning. So I got the most obnoxiously bassy drum and bass CD I have and played it very loudly with my speakers on the ground for a few songs. And I turned on the dishwasher. And the washing machine. And I danced.. hah.

I'm so tired of trying to be courteous, they're not, so why should I be?

Have I ever mentioned that I like to knit? Well I do, it's become an important hobby of mine in the past year. I just love everything there is about knitting..  the yarn, the stitches, making something soft and lovely with your own two hands, it's a big part of my life lately.  And so today I wanted to share with you some of the projects I've working on, some I've even finished!

And no, knitting is certainly not for old people anymore. Knitting is hip, knitting is now. Join the revolution! hahaha

First off is my cute Playa Pouch. It's a little case for my MP3 player. It protects my player from the abuse it suffers when I just throw it in my purse for city trips.

Second off I have my pretty Chunky Scarf. It's wool and so very soft. I love it, but am bummed because I won't get any use out of it until next winter.

My other project that I'm really excited about it my socks! Yes I'm making myself a pair of socks. :)

I got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. It was something I had avoided since I was 18. I knew I had to get them yanked eventually but I was frankly terrified of the procedure. And plus I didn't have dental insurance and it would have cost me a few thousand dollars.

But now I do have good insurance through my husband's employer, so we've been getting all our dental things done while we can. I've had fillings replaced, new cavaties filled, my husband's had some major oral surgery, so now it was my turn to go through it.

I went under general anesthesia so I was asleep for the yankings. Which was my choice, I didn't want to be awake for it. I knew I wouldn't have felt anything, I just didn't want to have those memories. The anesthesia was crazy, it was like I wasn't fully asleep. I wasn't coherent or cognizant of my surroundings, but I wasn't blacked out. It was like I was on a roller coaster or something. A very trippy experience.

I have Vicodin now which I am very thankful for. I woke up twice in the night after it had worn off completely and I know that I need it for the next few days. Ouch.

But overall it wasn't as bad as I had worked it up in my mind. I'm a worrier, and I definitely worried about this. I figure I'll be back to normal by the end of the weekend.

So that's my big update. Oh yeah and I got my hair cut. ^^

Just so you know, the song that is now on my profile is from The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. My sister came to visit me last week and we went to see that show on Thursday night. It was a riot, so funny and well done. I loved the music and wanted to feature it on my page. :) Go see it if you're able to, it's the most entertaining spelling bee you're ever to attend, for sure.

We're back from DC! We had a really good time livin it up in the nation's capital.

Friday my hubby and I met Alan and his girlfriend for dinner, and we had a very good time catching up. We hadn't seen each other since we graduated in '98, so there was a lot to catch up on! We ate at a rather opulently decorated Indian restaurant that had the menu divided into cuisines from regions of India, and the food was very tasty. So good food, good conversations, definitely good times.

I've been back since Saturday and haven't gotten much accomplished around the house, being in a hotel can make one lazy, it seems. So I've got a rather long list of chores to get to. Laundry, ironing, sorting through mountains of mail, dinner preparations, and the like. I'll be signing off now and getting my ass in gear.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods! <3

We are heading to Washington DC tomorrow to stay for a week. Farhan (aka Frank) will be attending a MySQL training course and I'm going along to sight see! It's been 14 years or so since I visited DC, so I have a lot planned. I am excited about this trip! So that's that.

We're taking Garfield with us, which will certainly be interesting. But I didn't want to board her again because we boarded her when we went to Georgia for Christmas and while it was an ok experience overall, she still got stressed which resulted in a kitty with an upset tummy for a while there. So I want to avoid that.. mess, if you know what I mean.

So I don't know if I'll be on to update when we're there, I want to take my laptop but I have to find it first. hehe
