hey guys, phil here. i have a sad announcement to make. i have made the difficult decision to leave olympia.

i've had some big reality checks recently in my personal life including a pretty serious bike accident that sidelined me for a few months. i've come to the conclusion that for right now i really need to focus on other areas of my life for a while. touring and making music with olympia has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life, but with the realities of touring and being in a band, it didn't offer a lot of stability which is what i really need right now.

the guys have been completely understanding and there are no hard feelings at all. i am happy to report that they are moving forward and going to find a new singer, which is exactly what i want them to do. i have heard the new music that the band is writing and it is fucking amazing... and it was really hard to leave knowing that someone else is going to get to pick up where i left off, but it's the right thing and i know the guys will find someone awesome.

i have nothing but love for these dudes and i wish them all the best. if you can sing, audition for them. if you see them on a show flyer in your town, bring your beer bong and prepare to get awesome. if you're one of the many people who has already shown us hospitality and kindness on tour, i thank you from the bottom of my heart. that also goes for our amazing family at equal vision and all the bands we toured with over the past years. thanks most of all goes to my dudes - peter, shane, and nick. thanks for all the memories and the chill spots.

i will pick music back up someday soon when the time is right. and i'll be sure to tell you about that. i may not go on tour anymore, but i already visited you... maybe it's your turn to come visit virginia. i'll save you a spot on the couch. feel free to stay in touch - phil [at] olympiaband.com is still my address.

Hey guys,

Bad news from the Olympia camp!  We took our van in to the shop last week to get it checked out for our upcoming tour and found out that our transmission is right on the verge of failure.  It's not only in bad shape to go to California and back, but it's in bad shape to be driven anywhere at this point.  The shop has told us they can replace the transmission, but it's going to cost over $2500.

Unfortunately, $2500 is something that we just don't have right now.

What does that mean?  It means that we are forced to cancel our winter tour.  We don't take that lightly.  We were all really excited and ready to hit the road and now we're stuck here at home.  It's a huge disappointment for all of us.

We are working on some ideas to raise money and get our van back up and running and get back out on the road, but unfortunately it's nothing we can throw together in time to make this tour.

To all the bands and promoters putting this thing together, we're very sorry.  To all the kids who were planning to come to a show, we promise we'll be back soon and thank you for your patience.  Please go out to the shows and check out the other bands who are still doing the tour!

That said, we were able to borrow a truck for a few of the close dates, so we'll still be making those:

11/11 - New York, NY - Knitting Factory w/ As Cities Burn
11/12 - Baltimore, MD - The Ottobar w/ As Cities Burn
11/16 - Altoona, PA - Jaggard UMC w/ As Cities Burn

So one thing we've realized as we tour across America is that really awesome, beautiful, stylish people are buying our t-shirts and looking fucking GOOD in them.

Naturally, when you support Olympia, we want to support you by making you look hot as shit when you go to your local party, bar, or bowling alley.  So when you're dancing, getting awesome, doing beer bongs, or whatever it is you do.. and you're wearing an Olympia shirt, take a picture and send it to us.  We'll post it on our myspace and the best photo will get some kind of ridiculous currently-undecided award.

Olympia will be featured in the April issue of Alternative Press magazine in the special "100 Bands To Know in 2007" section.

DUDES!!

We are very excited to announce that we have signed with Hope Division/Equal Vision Records. This has been in the works for quite a while now and we're glad to finally share the news with all of you. Our debut album will be coming out in early 2007 and we'll be sharing more information as it becomes finalized. In the meantime, please check out our fall shows and tour dates. More are being added every day! We're very excited to join the EVR family and there will be a lot more awesome things to come!
