Get stoked and show some love!
New album 'The High and Mighty' out now on Household Name Records.

Album 'Quicker Than Khan' out now on TNS Records.
www.myspace.com/theemos

TORTURO NERVOSA
Hulking angular rock beasts from Perth bring the rukus with their brash brand of twisted punk rock'n'roll in the MoMeansNo/Shellac/McLusky (anti) mould. Since forming a little over a year ago, these nutters have gigged all over the UK and are currenly pimping their new 'Autopsy?' EP.
www.myspace.com/torturobervosawillkillyou

Quite possibly the finest Ramones-core pop-punk band in Europe, these grubby Glaswegians will bring a healthy dose of jaded cynicism and sing-a-long punk goodness to proceedings.  If you like punk in any form, you'll love them. New album 'Semi-Erect, Semi-Retarded, Semi-Detached' out now on Monster Zero Inc!
www.myspace.com/themurderburgers

www.myspace.com/escapetovictoryuk

GRADER
'Formed in 2008, refined in 2009', these lacerating Aberdeen-based troops bring a refreshingly bleak approach to modern hardcore punk'n'roll and sound to me like The Bronx falling out with Cancer Bats. Go download their first EP from the mypuss page and learn the words.

From the hand of Barry The Kidd...

Ok, its 2009. Time to shake things up a bit.

Entropy is Dundee's only Punk, Ska, Hardcore and Emo club night, held typically on the 3rd friday of every month at Kage, incase you didn't know or are new to this.

In collaboration with the good people at The Balcony Bar in Dundee, we are doing something different before EVERY Entropy this year (and hopefully further).

Make That a Take are arranging a gig at the Balcony Bar before every Entropy, the gigs will be made up of as varied a collection of bands as we can get our hands on with the aim to inject some life into our local music scene and create a great party buzz that can carry on to Entropy every month.

The format will be - £2 into the gig (unless we have a touring band, this may increase some months but hopefully not) of which £1 goes directly to Oxjam. If you go to the gig you can then claim half price admission (£2) into Entropy at Kage later. We cant really say much fairer than that. I really hope people support this and get involved as much as possible. The live gig setting is so important to this music we all love, lets prove we still care about it.

Info For Bands

If you are in a band and want to play one of the gigs, let us know. Punk in 2009 is not an exclusive club, you dont have to fit into any sort of mould whatsoever. If your band has a sprinkling of punk about the music or at least the ethics then we will consider you. We want to make these gigs as open and as appealing to as many people as we can, we cant do that by ONLY allowing punk bands to play.

Punk is so amazingly varied in sound and we want to offer any band the chance to play, especially if you are a young band seeking gig experience and exposure. All that we ask is that you are all 18 years of age (sorry its the law), can play for at least 20 mins and are of some kind of reasonable standard, we have to have some decree of decency even if we are punks

If you have something recorded so we can hear, perfect. Not enough experienced people in Dundee are offering younger bands a chance at the moment, so we will.

All bands also need to understand that you wont make a lot of money playing these gigs, after the charity donation there will be £1 per entry to split between the bands and travelling bands will have slight priority for covering costs. If you want to make cash, play in a covers band, this is punk rock and this venture is about community and re-establishing some positivity in Dundee DIY. If you wanna play to a bunch of people who have probably never heard you and have some fun, hit us up.

I would like to express thanks to The Balcony Bar and Kage for supporting this 100% and also to my fellow cowpunks who do all the goodness at Make That a Take. Check the dates and the gig info will be in them once the bands start getting confirmed.

Oi Oi all.

Make-That-A-Take Records shall be releasing two brand-spanking new records on Valentine's Day.

15 Minutes are releasing their debut full-length, tentatively titled 'Build.Adapt.Achieve.Stay Strong', and I am releasing a new EP entitled 'Broken Strings and Senseless Things'.

As such, we are planning on touring together to promote the new releases and already have a bunch of dates booked. As we are both acoustic acts, we can play anywhere at anytime, be it basements, living rooms, coffee shops or where-ever.

That leads me to my point...

Is there anybody out there that wants some acoustic cowpunk action live in your living room?

We have played many house parties before and would love to come and play for you and your friends. We will consider absolutely anywhere so if you are interested in having us, please give us a shout. If any of your friends have birthdays coming up, why not organise a surprise party and we can be your musical entertainment!?!

As I say, if you want us, then we'll come and play.

Get in touch!

I'm sitting listening to the first copy of the debut EP from the greatest songwriter you've never heard - the almighty Banjo Patch!

This 9-track CD is packed full of weird and twisted alt-country murder ballads, tripped-out instrumental psychadelia and haunting spoken passages, as well some beautifully fractured Scottish humour.

The EP should be available by Christmas time. Keep your eyes and ears peeled!

The Crew.

Acid Tongue - 'Anniversary'. 7 track CDEP. Review by Deeker.

Acid Tongue are a kick-ass 4-piece female fronted punk band from Fife, in the vein of The Exploited, Threats and the best in UK'82-style punk. 'Anniversary' is their second record and what we get is seven tracks of hard and fast militant old school melodic punk rock.

The songs are direct, socially aware and unapologetically rowdy. 'Fuck Guns' is a fine example of their riotous call-to arms approach. 'Profit of The Shameless' slows the pace down a little with some dirty ska beats, addressing the abusive prescription of anti-depressants as a means of making money. This is short and direct as punk rock should be.

A riot live and having headlined the first night of this years GGI fest in Edinburgh, things are going well for Acid Tongue. If you don't like angry old school punk, you won't be converted, but if you like it fast, down and nasty, this EP is for you. It's good stuff and well worth checking out when they roll into town. Check www.myspace.com/acidtonguefifife or email acid-tongue@hotmail.com for more details.

----

The Try Hards - ' A Good Night Out..'. 4 track CDEP.

From Maximum Rock'n'Roll #280
The Try Hards play catchy punk/hardcore with damn snotty attitude, it is basic in its elements but totally effective. Songs about drinking, fighting and crashing parties. Totally worth a listen.

From www.punkoiuk.co.uk

TRY HARDS - A Good Night Out Ep (MISGUIDED RECORDS)

4 track cd from Dundee's Try Hards who's logo looks like they ripped it off from the Hard On's. Their photo looks like another skate band but their music is very promising. Even the lyrics are pretty basic "Take a Drink" reminds me of early Lowlife UK while the other three "Last Orders", "Scrap" and "Crash the Party" have more of an early American feel (Circle Jerks, Angry Samoans maybe Black Flag 6 pack era). Again if you check out their website there's links to some downloads, worth checking out as I said very promising but maybe they should Try Harder Ha Ha Ha (sorry lads I'll get my coat)
4 out of 5 Review by Ian

---

From www.undergroundscene.co.uk

The Try Hards – A Good Night Out! EP (Misguided Records)

Four songs of manic, fun, melodic punk from this great local band. The tracks on here are well produced and sound good. Sound wise, they invite comparisons to the Circle Jerks, Vandals etc. The lyrics deal with drinking (had a good laugh at the cheeky Against Me! tribute/dig in the line "If pints of Guiness make you strong, here's another drinking song"), unwanted fights (on the superb "Scrap" complete with Begbie from Trainspotting sample!) and crashing people's parties. The whole thing rattles past in no time, but you'll find yourself wanting to play it again.
