Could only find the show itinerary going back to 2004. Our first show was Wed. Sept. 12th, 2001(kinda hard to forget that date) @ The Annex in Madison. If you know of/remember one that isn't listed here, post a response letting me know what you remember. I may try to re-construct this when I'm really bored and need something to do. Really just posting this for posterity, that's why I kept the cancelled dates in there. Didn't realize just how many gigs we've played over time.

...STILL LOOKIN FOR THAT BLUE JEAN, BABY QUEEN, PRETTIEST GIRL I EVER SEEN!!

Great tune!!

Anyway, last Fridays show at Club Anything was a real exercise in emotion.  For one final show we were all able to put everything aside and put on what I feel was a really great performance.  Everyone was in a pretty good mood, which surprised me.  I was all set for drama and a few bad vibes but it turned out to be a really supportive and positive environment.  For that I am glad.  Big time thanks go to Tanya and the staff at Club Anything for helping us pull the whole thing off even with the last minute cancellations of two of the bands.

Incekt was phenominal...the best show I have ever seen from them and they have put on some scorching fucking sets in the past.  They were great last Friday.  To all those in Milwaukee, you really must get out to see these guys if you haven't already.  Really good stuff and nice guys to boot! ( www.myspace.com/incekt )

We were second on the bill and it was an emotional roller coaster to be sure.  It felt like a great set.  Energetic, passionate and in the moment.  I think we really managed to fire on all cylinders...a real cohesive unit.  The crowd seemed to tap into our vibe.  Always a good feeling. Thanks to all the hardcore FOFA's that showed up to support this performance. It really meant a lot to the band to have you all there.

Harsh Reality...what can I say?  They LIT THE FUCKING JOINT UP!!!  My ears are still bleeding!! I am so glad that we were able to have our final show as a full band with them.  They are a band that we respect in every sense of the word.  I know that we have not seen the last of them.  Tempest and myself discussed the future and whatever happens, you can be sure that we will continue working with all our great family up in the twin cities for a long time to come.

What happens next?  We're still working out the details with Ken but for now, we will be performing a few select shows as a 3 piece with running synthetic percussion and the occasional visit from Pete on bass.  He still wants to work with us on a limited basis, or at least until his schooling get's underway full time.  For now, we will continue under the name "Flat Atom".  Seems to make the most sense, for the immediate future anyway.  We are booked at the Rave in Milwaukee this Friday July 11th for the Midwest Rock Summit so if you're interested in checking out how we're going to adapt to these changes, Friday would be your chance.  We're kinda using it as a litmus test to burn Ken in.  Nothing like tossing the new guy into the flames, right?  I had to really consider booking this show but Ken and Thump were all gung ho about it so we're going for it.

So once again, thank you to everyone who came out to Club Anything last Friday.  It was a great show and one that I am proud to have went out on with the full lineup.  Cheers to the future...whatever it may bring!

I wanted to take a minute to announce that Flat Atom will be parting ways with two of it's members...Trever and Pete have decided to leave the band.  It's an amicable decision that has been in the works the past few months.

Pete has decided to go back to school and must focus on that.  It's something that we support and we want him to succeed at.  We will miss him greatly.  He's a great person to be around, very talented and will always be welcome in our lives.  He will be performing with us July 4th at Club Anything and he expressed interest in having the Sept. 23rd show at the Frequency w/ Obzson Geschopf be his final performance with the band.  So come on out to help us send Spank off with a bang!!!

Trever has also decided to take his leave of the band to focus on Motherhive Syndicate as well as economic reasons. His passion is with them and we wish them nothing but the best of luck.  Check them out if you haven't already...they rock!! ( www.myspace.com/themotherhivesyndicate ). It's also just too damn expensive these days to be drumming in two active bands.  Thump and I understand and support this decision wholeheartedly.  He will be performing his last show with Flat Atom July 4th at Club Anything in Milwaukee (his first FA show was Milw. and now he's coming full circle).  Much love T-rev!!!

To those close to the band, none of this info should come as a surprise.  It's been a while coming and the time has now surfaced to move forward and evolve.  Which brings me to my next announcement:

Thump and I have been working with Ken Pearsall of "The Fetish Project" ( www.myspace.com/fetishproject ).  Some of you might recognize him.  He's sung with us on stage on several occasions and did a remix of our tune "Noose". He's a very talented individual that brings a lot of versatility and experience to the table.  We're very happy and excited to be working with him.

What does all this mean exactly??  Well, Thump and I want to continue working together along with Ken.  Will it be "Flat Atom"?  We're not really sure at this point.  These changes are going to require a complete re-tooling of the bands overall sound and live presentation. The familiar "Flat Atom" will probably never happen again and holding onto the past is something neither Thump or I really want to do, nor do we want to try and pass off a diluted, stripped down version of the band as the real thing to our friends and fans.   Bringing in a new drummer and getting them up to speed is a daunting task and Thump and I are feeling like we don't want to deal with live percussion anymore (those of you in bands might understand what we're saying here). We are focused on the future and time will tell. We need to discuss it more at length in private but I wanted to at least get these changes out there publicly so folks aren't left wondering what the hell is going on.

The show offers are still coming in and there are opportunities galore for us so we don't want to cash it all in completely.  There are musicians out there that would kill to be in a position like we are so we don't take any of that for granted. It's a challenge for us for sure, but it's one we've been faced with before and we've always come through it stronger and better. I for one cannot imagine living life without a musical outlet and I know Thump needs it just as much as I do...if not more! So...bottom line, we'll be fine.  If Flat Atom is anything...it's resiliant!  It's just going to have to evolve once again.

I will be sure to update with any important info as things progress.  Do be sure to come to Club Anything in Milwaukee on the 4th of July for last hurrah with the band in it's current incarnation.

Love from Mad-town!!

Nick, Thump, Ken

Hey folks, we regret to inform you that Fridays Monster Ball at the Annex had to be cancelled due to a death close to the Impaler camp.  Impaler apologizes for this last minute cancellation and hopes to reschedule their Madison appearance soon.  There will be no performances this Friday at all at the Annex.  Thank you for your understanding.  Please re-post this to help us spread the news of the cancellation.

Just an FYI to anyone who cares.  I will be taking a hiatus from booking any further shows for Flat Atom.  This is a decision that I have made mostly on my own due to personal conflicts that have arisen in my life.  I have some things that require my attention and the responsibilities of running a band are just adding more stress in my life rather than giving me a cathartic outlet.  If I'm not enjoying it, I need to re-assess certain things and I can tell that's where I am heading so rather than run something I care very deeply about into the ground, I decided to take a break and focus on other things in my life that require my attention.  If a show comes up that is worthwhile I will definately consider it but the years of gigging for less than gas expenses and a few free beers have taken their toll on everyone in the band.  We need some time to focus on other areas of our lives and hopefully that will allow us to be more creative and prolific with our songwriting in the future.    I will be keeping the July 4th show at Club Anything in Milwaukee on the roster and possibly the May 30th one at the Annex as well (that one is currently up in the air due to a changing of the guard at the Annex. If I have to cancel that one, I will post a note on MySpace, first thing. but for now it's going on as planned).  Thanks to everyone who has supported us and continues to do so. We do love and appreciate every one of you...very much.  We just need a break.  Thank you for all your understanding.

Hey all, got some cool news to update y’all on. We have been nominated for two Madison Area Music Awards this year. Our full length "Flux" got a nomination for Best Electronic Album and our track "Lies" has also gotten a nomination for Rock Song Of The Year. We are very pleased to have made it into the nominations round.  If you haven’t signed up to vote yet for the MAMA’s please do so by going to www.themamas.org . Current mood:  pissed off
Well this probably does not come as a big shock to anyone but we have to completely cancel Fridays show outright.  The bands had no part to play in the cancellation. It is purely due to the liquor license issue and lack of insurance at the Outer Limits.  I got played a bit and that shit happens in this biz and I do apologize to everyone who was planning on coming to the show this Friday. I tried to keep it alive & roll with the punches as long as I could to no avail.  The city refused the license and the venue doesn’t have enough time to get the insurance coverage in order to host any shows at all (Would’ve been nice to know that 4 months ago but hey! I have no control over other people and their business).  I am personally upset and bummed that this had to happen in this manner. I feel horrible for everyone that put forth so much effort to make this show work and not have anything to show for it.  Believe me when I say that I did everything I could to help the venue and ensure that you all would have a kick ass show to attend this Friday but circumstances amassed against me and they just kept getting worse as time went on. I even tried to find an alternate venue but nothing could be arranged on such short notice. Live and learn and move on! That’s all anyone can do in this situation. Thank you all for your understanding. I am very sorry about this.

Current mood:  anxious
I’ve been getting a few inquiries about the liquor license issue at the Outer Limits and the potential effect it may have on the WELD showcase that we have booked there next Friday March 21st.  I (Nick) have been working with the owner Rick Driese on  this issue and we have come to a decision that we think will keep everyone happy.  The show WILL be going on as planned. The only potential snag is if the town of Middleton happens to deny the liquor license again, we will have to have a dry show...meaning no liquor anywhere on the premesis. Again, please keep in mind that this is pending a denial of the license at the review on Monday March 17 (please read the blog I posted regarding the Outer Limits liquor license review below and attend the meeting if you can to help show support).  If all goes well next Monday and they grant the license, then it will be your normal show w/ liquor, sex and loud ass rock n roll! Worst case scenario is we will have to settle for just the sex and loud ass rock n roll.  Considering the lineup, I’m cool with it either way. The show is too good to bail on so we’re going forward no matter what at this point. So, good news all around. If you live in or near Middleton and you can make it to the hearing on Monday March 17, please do so.  The more people we can get in there to support the place, the better off we all will be in the long run. Check the blog below for info on the liquor license review and we will see you at WELD!!!
