New Hampshire is STILL the *ONLY* state in the country without a seat belt law. See the details here.

This is thanks to dozens of activists putting in hours and hours of work.
Tuesday, February 24, 2009

House Concurrent Resolution 6 was recently introduced in New Hampshire by Rep. Itse.  It borrows language from Jefferson's Kentucky Resolution and draws a line in the sand, declaring that New Hampshire's contract with the Federal Government will be void if it passes that line (read the resolution here).  Among the listed things that would trigger New Hampshire's withdrawal from the union are certain gun control measures, mandatory national service without a  Congressional declaration of war, and any infringement on freedom of conscience.

Rep. Itse has recently appeared Fox & Friends (see the video here - if you can stand their air-headed hosts).

We're proud to say that during this interview, Rep. Itse thanked Free Staters for their help in pushing for the passage of HCR 6!  It's true! With hundreds on the ground, 6 members already in the legislature, and thousands more on the way, Free State Project members in New Hampshire are a force to be reckoned with.

There will be a rally outside the state house on March 4, the day for which the vote on HCR6 is scheduled, and we expect 800-1,000 people to show up in support of state sovereignty (a huge number for a small state like New Hampshire).  Hundreds of Free Staters will no doubt be among them.

If you would like to meet Rep. Itse, he will be speaking at the 2009 Liberty Forum March 5-8.  See more information at FreeStateProject.org/LibertyForum and enter code 2009Myspace for a 10% discount.

No matter what part of the country you're in, there's probably an FSP meet up in your area.
Find the one closest to you at: http://freestateproject. org/community/localgroups.
Getting involved is a great way to meet other liberty lovers in your area who are also preparing to make the same pilgrimage to the Free State as you are.

Anyone in the Los Angeles area should consider checking out the NEW meetup for liberty lovers in the Los Angeles area: http://www. meetup. com/The-Los-Angeles-Free-State-Project-Meetup-Group/

The 2009 Liberty Forum will be March 5-8.  This year's keynote speaker will be Richard Heller, the man who sued the city of Washington DC to own a gun and won, marking the first time in history the Supreme Court recognized an individual 2nd Amendment right (see here)!  You can meet him, Dr. Mary Ruwart, Glen Jacobs of the WWE, David Nolan, founder of the Libertarian Party and more!  See FreeStateProject.org/LibertyForum for details.

Ron Paul speaking at the 2008 Liberty Forum.
Ron Paul has previously endorsed the Free State Project.

At the last Liberty Forum, we were holding our event at the same hotel as John McCain was staying.  His secret service guards complained about the copious amount of Ron Paul supporters and Free Staters who were open carrying pistols.  We didn't leave, and they weren't too happy (especially when people started asking him questions).  The Liberty Forum is always a great time to meet libertarian luminaries and get to know fellow libertarians in America's freest state.

The 2008 election is over.  We elected four Free Staters to the New Hampshire House of Representatives and helped pass a spending cap in Rochester, NH.  We did not escape the democratic tsunami of 2008, but at least one of the new Democrats who was elected was a free stater libertarian running as a Democrat.

This election has merely cemented further what Free Staters already know:

First, time is of the essence.  We have a short window of opportunity to secure a free future for ourselves.

Second, the current strategy is failing.  We can not and will never be able to secure a free future spread out all over this vast country alone and unsupported.  Connecting through the internet solves some problems, but still does not allow for the cultural shift that is necessary.  We need a new consensus and we must unite to get it.  We are uniting in New Hampshire and it can't happen fast enough.

Third, when we do unite, the results are spectacular.  There are only 621 Free Staters in New Hampshire, with more moving all the time.  But even with this small number, we elected FOUR Free Staters to the New Hampshire House of Representatives last Tuesday.  All of them had lived in New Hampshire less than 5 years, but they all had large support networks of activists.

The 2008 New Hampshire Liberty Forum was a huge success!

Attendance was way up from the previous Liberty Forum and the event lasted longer.  Celebrities of all types (Members of Congress, authors, radio hosts, think tank leaders, media personalities, and even a professional wrestler) had a wonderful time.  Interestingly, John McCain’s campaign shared the hotel with the liberty movement during the Liberty Forum.  His campaign was exposed to the leading activists in the liberty movement for several days.  Hopefully, some participants of his campaign learned something

Many people blogged the event but my favorite blog of the event is this three part series.

Yes folks, the US Congress and the Executive Branch have teamed up to destroy the US Constitution. Luckly, we are still allowed to move and the New Hampshire Consitution still stands. The time is now! If you have not yet joined the Free State Project please soon join and move to New Hampshire where there is a large are growing network of resisters.

Folks, this is no jokes, our rights are being taken away by the day.

Though our summer party is over, we aren't getting any rest. The FSP is in high gear right now. We just returned from the LP Convention, where we sold a lot of merchandise, talked to hundreds of libertarians, and our Pres got a mention in the local alt-weekly. Also, watch for us at select stops on the Vans Warped Tour!

Ready to step up and help us with some of this stuff? We would love to hear from you! Drop a note to volunteer@freestateproject.org.
