A couple of weeks ago, Jason Berggren asked me to announce through the tribute website, this Myspace page and the Facebook group that he plans to perform Strongarm songs at Cornerstone Festival this year.
This week there is an official reaction to that announcement from the members of Strongarm who were there in the beginning and there in the end: Joshua, Nick, Chris, Chad and Steve.
With this statement, the decision of Jason to announce the Strongarm Tribute set at Cornerstone has become somewhat controversial. Apparently Jason did contact the band first, asking their opinion -before announcing the performance.
From the statement: We appealed to Jason's sense of decency and asked him not to do it. He has decided not to honor our wishes. Main reason why the band asked him not to: It is our sense that Jason's motivation is to use our music to call attention to his book.
You can read the full statement at www.strongarmreunion.com.

Nearly 2 years after the last update... sorry for keeping you all waiting for some news! It was just that there was nothing worth mentioning, unfortunately.

But finally I've got something for you now:

Jason Berggren contacted me to announce that he will be doing a "Strongarm Tribute" this summer at
Cornerstone Fest. He will be singing songs from the Atonement album and a few off the Advent album as well (the ones which he wrote the lyrics for) .
OK, so he's singing... but who's playing then, you ask? Well, apparently the guys from
Life In Your Way will be his backing band.

Also, he wrote a book called "10 Things I Hate About Christianity" (subtitled Walking Through The Frustrations Of Faith), which just came out.
You can read about it and order it at
www.10thingsihate.com

So no news still about the band's reunion that has not happened until now, but Jason's initiative is definitely going to be an interesting happening at this year's Cornerstone!

Hey all,

Joe Keit made a Myspace profile for his old band TENSION, which you definitely should check out !

They were (and still are) Strongarm's friends while they were around as a band; Strongarm's Nick Dominguez even played in Tension for a while. Also Chad Gilbert was in Tension before he started singing for Shai Hulud (and later went on to New Found Glory). So, a truly historical band it was.

So go check out that page, listen to some songs and become their friends !

Okay folks, finally some news about a reunion tour that we've all been begging for so long now!

Good news first: everyone's into it, so the band is convinced now that there's sufficient demand for it. They are surprised by and grateful for all the positive feedback and support the past months!

But now the bad news: it's not going to happen this year anymore. :(

The reason is mainly that they want to be well-prepared and want to practice this material -which they obviously haven't played for years- thoroughly. Plus hopefully write a little new material. When this tour happens, it should be a blast. So basically lack of time to practice stands a tour in the way at the moment.

Of course I'll be back with news about the subject as soon as there is some. Until then: keep screaming for this reunion, keep them in your thoughts and/or prayers and let's hope they find the time to commit and practice these great songs that we all want to hear from a stage once again!

Thanks for your continuous support!

Strongarm Tribute - www.xmusicx.nl

Hi everyone !

While there's still no news to tell about a possible reunion tour - other than that the guys are checking out seriously what's possible - this might be of interest to some of you: the nice people from Bands On Fire have put the full Cornerstone 1998 farewell show on their Youtube channel. It's from the same bootleg source as the Division and These Times That Try Men's Souls clips that can be downloaded from the Strongarm tribute site.

As for sound and image quality of this tape: could be better. But for historical value and atmosphere: the best you can get !

Oh yeah.... many people have asked me, but you can be assured: Chris Carbonell told me that as soon as anything is known or confirmed about shows or a tour, I would be the first to know. And obviously i'll send out a bulletin immediately when/if that happens !

So hopefully you'll be hearing from me soon :)

Stay cool.

Current mood:  hopeful

Hey everyone,

First of all, I'd like to let you know that the URL for the Strongarm stribute site changed. The new location is
www.xmusicx.nl.

But what not many people noticed until now, is that Chris Carbonell posted an entry in the guestbook two weeks ago in which he mentions some things about a possible reunion tour! This is what he says:

First of all I just want to say how blown away I am that people still like the music we put together in Strongarm.

Secondly, I don't know how many people come across this site that are fans, but last night 11/27 Matt from Shai Hulud, Josh, Steve and I were talking about doing a tour together sometime next year.

The only problem for a lot of you is that it will most likely be in Japan. This is because there seems to be a stronger following there. That being said we are talking about doing a European tour, and U.S. both that is only if things work out. It's hard to say because it's been so long. We don't want to put a tour together and have hardly anyone show up.

Anyway, Let me know. I have a myspace account, but I don't know how to use it yet. I will however check this site more often to see if you guys are interested in the tour/s. I will also write a response to jason's and Chads interview soon.

Of course people have been speaking about a possible reunion tour for a long time, but this surely gives some hope, doesn't it ?

Maybe it would be an idea to show Chris and the others that there is "some" demand for a Strongarm gig in your area. For that reason i started a topic on the Strongarm tribute forum.
You can find that right
here. Just to give the guys some feedback. Please note: there are no concrete plans yet !

Of course you could also react by leaving a comment in either the guestbook on the tribute site or on the Myspace page.

Leaves me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2007 !

Check out a new video on Strongarm's myspace profile. It's "These Times That Try Men's Souls", from the same show as the previously featured video of "Division": their farewell concert at Cornerstone Festival 1998.

The clip of "Division" can still be found in the media section of the Strongarm Tribute site, strongarm.xmusicx.info.
