it's been around for a while, but just recently came to my attention... yes, I am slow!

I've just started a page on Virb, which looks much cleaner than myspace... and to celebrate, I've put up a little demo I did yesterday in my Moscow apartment... very Spring-like... you can download the song if you'd like.

Current mood:  cold

Hello people, I am sorry for being so quiet for so long. A lot of really cool things happened, including a great show I did with Four Tet and a headling gig at a Vhod-Vyhod festival in Moscow. And of course, the week-long Territoria festival was a blast — we had the biggest screen imaginable at our disposal and warm, wonderful audiences. I unexpectedly met Capitol K, whose record I'd been fascinated with for years, which I tried to convey, although we were both quite inebriated at the time… hung out with Ms. John Soda and Leafcutter John and Cibelle and a lot of other talented people… It's a bit sad, coming down from that high, but we all hope to continue with the festival in the coming years.

Now I've been trying to finish the record, so many people have been asking for it, thank you all so much, it really helps me keep going… I will try very hard to put something out soon; stay tuned!!!

And now I am getting back to playing shows, and this next one is an interesting triple bill with Tujiko Noriko and Aki Onda at Tonic on March 10.  Tujiko puts out fragile, beautiful stuff on Tomlab/Fatcat/Mego... gets compared to Bjork occasionally... check it out.

And so - see you all soon, and keep warm!

I'd like to thank everyone who came out and supported the Knitting Factory shows, the residency was really a blast!

Looks like this will be my last show of the year in New York -- Friday, Sept 8, 8pm @ Tonic.  Going out of the country after that for the rest of the year.

Get it here.

for those who care about words...
(btw, all my lyrics can be found at www.tonearm.net)

What's That

what's that?
memory sits,
smoking her cigarrette.

time slips...
she waits for a tide,
she's blowing smoke rings.

     while we are still high
     let's take the jet,
     fix the flat --
we could go for a while
and if you're so afraid to retire --
     start with a small fire.

perplexed
I stare at her face,
I'm wondering what's next...

dry lips...
and I guess she just might,
might go for a quick fix

     while we are still high
     let's take the jet,
     fix the flat --
we could go for a while
and if you're so afraid to retire --
     start with a small fire.

"Hey, now, this is it --
      Once you take that shit
      There's no talk of sleeping..."
     "What a pretty view..."
     "Hey, that's nothing new,
Wish I could just keep it"

love pills
in fidgety hands
searching for new thrills.

take three,
and then you will see
that we could be so free.

     while we are still high
     let's take the jet,
     fix the flat --
we could go for a while
and if you're so afraid to retire --
     start with a small fire.

Half and Half

half and half --
you fight for a while, and then you're cold.
it's all a bluff --
a stellar advance ground to a halt.
and feeling estranged,
half asleep, you tumble down
and there goes the crown...

what's the use
of trying to heed the battle call?
there'll be a truce,
but every empire is bound to fall.
get out while you can --
step outside and have some air,
and then you might care...

cheat your fate --
you've been to the clouds, so come on down.
negotiate
a permission to land in a seaside town.
roll out of the plane,
and half the time they'll let you stay --
just try to behave.

Current mood:  bouncy
People have been asking about that little New Yorker article.  Yes, it's true, they mixed up my name.  The rest of it is quite alright, though.  Here's the link to their page.

And the May 6 show at The Knitting Factory should be a blast, with visuals and a lot of freedom associated with being the only act on the bill...    See ya!
