HOMECOMING KING

we stare at the ocean
no sign of the shore
a blackened horizon
the waves beat a score
so far from the light
no sleep for me tonight
- it won't come
i dream of the sun
and all the light we've behind
waits for me

she stares at ocean
and waits by the shore
the blood red horizon
gives hint at my war
so far from the light
no sleep for me tonight
- it won't come
i dream of the sun
and all the light we've behind
wait for me

storms keep me from being
where i need - it's there with with you
it's what i
expected
disaster
a shipwreck

this boat won't last
the wheel won't turn
the plague is fast
the sails are burned
she waits for me
to make it home
to right back where
we started from

i feel this compulsion
this thing at the back of my mind
it tries to destroy everything good in my life
at night i stare at the shadows
of insects that flicker
and probably aren't even there
it comes and it goes
like the ebb of a tide
all that surrounds me
just curls up and dies
at night i stare at the shadows
that flicker, and wonder
if anything's left for me there
where do we go
now it's all gone so wrong?

this boat won't last
the wheel won't turn
the plague is fast
the sails are burned
she waits for me
to make it home
to right back where
we started from

SWERVE

down the center
of the highway
on the broken line

push the needle
to the redline
i don't waste time

see the headlights
straight towards me
i can see just fine

through the blood and
broken windshield
i can see for miles

everytime, i crash and burn
hurtling towards the earth
by the time i saw the end come
was way too late to swerve

blaze of highbeam
car horn screaming
world of sound and light

in the space be
tween the dashboard
and the night sky

just keep driving
same direction
i can see just fine

through the blood and
broken windsheild
i can see for miles

everytime, i crash and burn
hurtling towards the earth
by the time i saw the end come
was way too late to swerve

and i
i won't brake
i won't yield
i won't swerve

MY FAVOURITE ACCELERANTS

I throw myself into the fire to see if I burn
I've been so stupid, will I ever learn
And I love that smell, it reminds me of my place
And I've been so stupid, I can be replaced

I burn bridges like nothing was easier
I've got gasoline blood and it burns in my veins
All my favourite accelerants blew me away
All my favourite accelerants blew me away
I had visions of mercy, fire, demons, and grace
I had memories but only found ash in their place
All my favourite accelerants blew me away
All my favourite accelerants blew me away
I succumb to the wildfire delirium
My symptoms are semtex and kerosene based
All my favourite accelerants blew me away
All my favourite accelerants blew me away
All my pyres lit simply to parody fate
I watch as my future goes up in a blaze
All my favourite accelerants blew me away
All my favourite accelerants blew me away

Hey people,

Gigs booked in Brisbane in July and August, more details to follow

-- we were trying to organise a show in Ipswich, but it fell through, so if anyone out that way  is organising anything, drop us a line. also Toowoomba, GC, Sunny Coast, Gympie/ Bundy, or Byron Bay...

Icarus single is mixed and mastered, just have to finalise the cover artwork design. It will be e-released to begin with, but will be sent to radio stations for requests. More news as it comes...

The accompanying Icarus video clip nears completion, with the song mastered and such there's just the last minute editing/ grading/ film stuff awaiting Mick upon his return from Vietnam. This will go everywhere, with your help we can spread it further...

Watch this space for updates...

purgatory
i taste the sulphur in the air we breathe
my lungs are filled with fire
and it's everywhere i go
i hear the screaming from the dead
who walk among us - they don't know
and there's more and more each day

a fool could see
we're all in purgatory
purgatory now

i hear the voices on the winds
they speak of nothing but the pain
it's all i ever hear
we await the days of revelation
but we all wait in vain
the end's already been and gone

a fool could see
we're all in purgatory
purgatory now
for all our sins
we're all in purgatory
purgatory now

i
i wonder why
you wait in line
the gates of hell
are opened wide
i ask you why
you waste your time
the gates of hell
are open wide

TRIGGERLIPS
you leave a taste on my lips like candle-light
and the warmth plays on my mind
you leave me thrilled and broken and paralysed
and tell me your secrets to keep me alive
she said: "lovers come and go...
lovers come and go
lovers come and go
but alibis always know
lovers come and go
lovers come and go
lovers come and go
like alibis....."
so tell me more secrets
tell me your lies
tell me your tales of woe and heartbreak
and i'll tell you mine
your eyes are like cross-hairs
all in a row
and your triggerlips could
make my world explode

you leave a trace on my lips like parafin
and your kiss leaves me for dead
you demand i love you with everything
even the bullet you put in my head

the young poisoners keep writing new songs. we like them. one of them is kind-of tongue in cheek nu-metal/ pop-rock ditty about the apocalyptic endtimes we live in, another is a kind of epic sounding proto-metal stadium rock song in the vein of a feral-kinda-Muse with a Tool-y solo and things referencing odysseus and relationships, and another was a quick 3/4 pop metal sing-songy blast about lying. there’s more, i just can’t think of them... *
we’ve (meaning I’ve) also put Whnrlthngshppntoimaginaryppl, ..Lovers Bear Grudges, and Don’t Get The Mogwai Wet demos available for free from our myspace player. i think it’s in an effort to force us to record more very quickly, but i rarely know for sure what i’m doing or why.

we also have a gig the night before anzac day @ inferno with Hung, The Second That, and Acid Theory and it will be fun. or else

*edit: a ministry mixed with country sounding song, another instrumental based thematically on a pivotal x-men story arc, punky things, janes addiction crossed with refused sounding things, a bad seeds/ dance rock/ converge ditty about the incredible exploding man, rat’s math-rock gibberish. all of them aren’t recorded yet. don’t ask me, i just work here

this just came to my attention. we’ve never got a review before, so that’s great. the only thing was somewhere between my Dwarves shirt, rat and myk’s horror movie shirts, and one song with a slasher snuff movie comic torture references, we’re apparently a bad misfits tribute, and what’s more the misfits are now a ’70’s band. kids are so well informed these days.

the rest was fair, the sound was shit, and rat fuckded his voice screaming over the bad sound early on. but.. anyway... we got reviewed!

Step Inn      Fri Feb 29

The Motörhead and AC/DC inspired The F1-ELEVENS get the power churning treating this alternative audience to a highly energetic bout of riffs and nurturing solos. The entire set could fall on them and the quartet would still be playing.

It’s sad to see bands like The Young Poisoners ascribing to legendary ’70s murder punks The Misfits and their slasher themes. The only kind of disturbance the quintet create is to make the theme juvenile with rounds of uncomfortable harmonies.

Magdalena treads over the embers of the last performance and strikes Mz Ann Thropik ablaze. The band is a shock punk assault and Magdalena is a wind up doll. She kicks, jumps, and touches herself - all with ritualistic bloodiness. They’re a comfortable unit, each member performing honestly through songs like Get To You, Sweet Love Beat, and Dynamite.

The Wrath are a post-horror outfit with an agreeable collective of songs - Hellbound Train particularly standing out. However, The Wrath seem unable to level with the performance peaks reached by previous acts, which at 1 am translates as dead energy. That said, it’s reassuring to hear some smooth vocals with chugging riffs, from efficient players.
