FAT HIPPY SAMPLER VOL. III
AVAILABLE IN SHOPS AND ITUNES... MONDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER

Following the successes of the previous two samplers, we return with another ear-full of exciting musical offerings destined to outgrow their surroundings. From the Xcerts to Driveblind via My Minds Weapon and Edgar Prais, nearly every band from the area that's gone on to national (and in some cases) international success in recent times was nurtured at the bosom of Fat Hippy Records. Some of these bands return for guest appearances on Fat Hippy Sampler Vol III, along with the next generation of local groups destined for future greatness.

Genres on this latest offering range from Indie Pop to Splat Metal. At Fat Hippy egos and images are checked at the door - these are simply 20 bands making original music with the talent and potential to make a career out of their craft.

Without getting too rose-tinted about it, Fat Hippy is an independent record label in the traditional sense. We've spent a lot of time, effort and money over the last 6 years producing nearly 50 CDs and putting on hundreds of gigs all around the country. We've not made any money out of it yet, but the warm fuzzy feeling we get every time we release something new out into the galaxy makes up for it.

Anyway, we do hope you can do a little bit to help tell the world about this fantastic CD that offers an amazing 72 minutes of entertainment for only £3! With 20 bands on this CD that's only 15p per song, surely an irresistible opportunity to experience a slice of the future before it arrives!!

'Fat Hippy Sampler Vol III' out Monday 29th September, available from various record shops and on iTunes.

its gone really well over the past couple of weeks with electric tibet playing on our music player, thank you for your nice comments. and i shit you not we sold a couple of cd's too :)

this time i'm going for the first track of the x-certs ep, the song is called 'stay the same'... i wonder if the guys still play it? we released this back in the summer of 2003 and it was the ninth release from fat hippy. i can't remember if it received much airplay, but i do recall a couple of A&R folks coming up from the big smoke to see the guys play. so someone must have noticed it :)

amazingly this ep never sold out, and we still have copies for sale from here! and i think One-Up still has copies too

Since these heady days the guys moved down to brighton to seek there fame and fortune and are currently touring the country with "Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly" and are coming to a town near you soon. see their myspace page for more info... www.myspace.com/thexcert

for folk in Aberdeen that means get yourselves to moshulu on sunday night, i believe they are on stage at 8pm.

enjoy the tune

i've just noticed that our myspace music player can take another tune, so i thought we could dig back through the fat hippy back catalogue and bring you some forgotten classics from the past six glorious years

i'm gonna start with the fallout blues ep from electric tibet, this came out back in March 2003 but is still one of my favouites. It was only the 4th release from fat hippy but still received many good reviews and if memory serves me right it was the first time we had an ep played on radio 1

It sounds kinda like a teenager wearing a Joy Division T-shirt listening to assorted new wave, surf rock and occasionally jazz on a broken record player in a black room, lit dimly with a red lamp. Only not as good.

amazingly this ep never sold out, and we still have copies for sale from here!

i kinda like the idea of taking some request for this and changing the tune every couple of weeks, so if you wanna hear some the x-certs when they were 16, driveblind before they went to america, or even funktree's firery urine of doom, just let us know

100% CRAD is the spanking new single from Captain Face and it takes another timely swing at the Americanisation of youth culture (like, totally!) with a spasmodic but agreeable tune that wedges itself into the subconscious from the first listen.

Last single 'Small Joy' - which received support from the likes of Vic Galloway and radio across Scotland – saw the band marry the sublime with the ridiculous and demonstrated their enthusiasm for creating riff-laden rock music with a smack of the outlandish.
