allo,
its been a while since my last post. But I will be going into the studio very soon to try and complete "Breathe Before you Die" before the years end. There is a talk of a session drummer at this point just to get things moving with a few local shows.Or what ever gets tossed our way.
I know many people think E T is dead. But thats not true. I have never ever for a second thought about giving up. I have been slowly building all my gear back up, getting a decent place to jam, a new guitar, and so on.
Sometimes we need time to take off and regroup, by the end of 2006 I was totally disgusted with how things had ended with the past few line-ups and the X members doing nothing but just causing problems one after another.after a while you loose that passion for playing and you begin to feel like a slave to a drug that no longer gets you high.
well I have learned a important lesson "patience" I have it now, I didnt before, but I HAVE to if I ever want to see this band rise together as a full band.I could totally just do it all myself, and people often ask m, but the main thing love is the energy that you can create with others can be pure bliss.
I can definitely with stand quite a bit of shitting on me, but not anymore, either its 50/50 or theres no band. I have to thank Chuck and Saw for giving me the koolest line-up I have ever had !

Allo everyone...
I'm not really sure what this blog means but, as most people know "I am" Elusive in more ways than none, so I guess I'm speaking about myself and my relationship with my music & what motivates me to play & write.
It's been over a year since the last Elusive show & I am not quite the same person anymore, a once altered perception from a drug induced overdosage of poison, I have over 7 months clean now and I feel really healthy & ready to get back to work! one thing that has come to mind is , what the hell will I write about now? whats the whole point anymore of doing this still? I'm not even sure what i want to say or even how I feel? actually becoming clean has very muched numbed me in a hard to explain way,it really confuses you, you have to learn how to live a completly different life. Now a days I am calm, relaxed & pondering the whole meaning of our existance, I'm SO sick & tired of bitching about how much life sucks and how unfair it is, or how the wrath of Love is a much sicker drug than any real drug I have ever done... I am steering clear of that whole situation this time around! Thus explains the complete "solitude" I am living in.
Elusive Travel is my most precious acheivement ! It's more my "personal diary" if anyone doesn't like I could care less really!
I guess I should give you a lil update on the future of the band. I have tried to get together with 2/3 drummers over the past 7 months & nothing ever came of it. I couldn't get any of them to even audition or just learn "one" song ! lol! yes people thats how FUCKING RETARDED most people are.!?
on a good note just because things are slow doesn't mean I'm not getting things done, I have been out looking for gear and I think I know what I am getting "after" I pay off a few bills in such! the search for a drummer will con't done't worry I WON"T ever give up seeking a full line-up ! I have no idea on how long it will take but ya never know what could be right around the corner...... God Bless & if you don't like it go jump off a bridge!

hello beautiful people out there...
I just wanted to say that I am doing well in NY,Fledgling Death has recorded one new song called "Back Yarrrd"! We got to play a welcome home show as well back in Sept. As far as Elusive goes I have had a few auditions but I am still searching,I really haven't done much in looking for a drummer to be honest but I have lots of time before I would even need a drummer for that matter.I'm really trying to get this album closer to being complete.
I just wanna complete the vocals and then I will feel much better heres what I have to add to complete in detail for those who care.I'll also include the meanings/stories behind the song and when it was written. (this is not a final track order) "Breathe Before you Die"
1.so secure - keys, solo's,samples, additional vocals, acousticguitar *written summer 2004 I had met someone who I deeply cared for, I guess you could say that I feel deeply in love for the first time and I for once felt God giving me true love from this person and from him as well, but unfortunatly it became my worst nightmare, I learned that this person was unfaithful, what was so funny about this song was it was supposed to be a happy song, I remember saying to myself that I wanted to try to start getting a little bit away from this subject, because I feel that I have written too many songs about this, but fate and life would have its way with this song and my heart* oh well.....2004
2.love will crush you-vocals,keys,ripping guitar solo(Brian Hoag) *written in 2001-2003 no it didn't take me 2 years to write this song it was just started with the first line-up and then completed with the second one, if i can recall this one was about how Karma actually works,I was still very much so suffering from the hardest break up in my entire life that would actually effect my life so dramatically I had to move 500 miles away.I recall feeling so angry with myself about the choices I made during this releationship.2001-2003
3.you bring the lonliness-Dawn Desiree vocals, keys *again the mystical woman come back again, actually I had met her in Nov of 98' we saw each other for a few months and then broke up @ the end of Jan 99' well during the few months we were together this first time I wrote this song about her, It was such a hard thing to say no to her, I clearly knew that she was something I needed to stay away from, she was so far beyond my help, but as fate would have it, I surcumbed to this crying withering heart, i was so drawn to her, I can't explain it,this song displays myself trying to forget and move on but I am failing miserably.1998
4.to last a lifetime-add distortion to bass track, samples* ok heres a quick easy one, this was written during the second line-up with Marlon and Adam 2003,it was simply about how you can't run from your problems, no matter where you move or where you hide you have to face it, more directly about me moving to Ohio and leaving my old life in NY,talks about walking away.2003
5.vacant-finish vocals, keys, solo, sample *ok heres one about a foriegn woman I had a confusing releationship with, now I'm not one to favor long distance releations, but I was hand picked again, literly I woke up and started writing this song in 2002, I remember waking up and feeling so far away from love or ever being happy, I was laying in bed listening to Anathemas "last goodbye" and I was so depressed.2001-2003
6.7dayz-vocals,acoustic guitar, solo *another song about the foriegner, she was to fly down to Cincinnati for 7 days, this would be the second to last time I would ever see her in my entire life, this was also the last time she would visit me at home, basically the hope was all but lost, but stubborn me wanted to try one last time to see how she felt, but not even 7 days of trying to be close and romantic would work,we had a little bit of fun, but this was such a confusing time for me in my life, its me actually telling her I know its over but lets just pretend.2003
7.breaking me-keys,acoustic *this song I actually only remember being about how I feel in general, I used to be so sensitive and I guess i felt like the whole world was against me, thats it really written in 2003
8.heart is gone-vocals,drums loop,sample,noises/samples * hey this ones about the first girl in SO Secure, its very simple idea its about revenge, and me asking God to give her to me so I can show her what shes done, ok this song was written 2 days before we went into the studio so 2005

HERES AN INTERVIEW I DID
OCT 21ST 2006
Downtune Despondency
1. Greetings Chris and thanks for your time. Give the readers a brief rundown on Elusive Travel.
I started this band in Jan of 00' while still living in Rochester, NY. in the summer or 00' I moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to find permanent members. The idea was to mesh emotion with dark music such as metal, trance, acoustic what ever happened. I actually hate playing one style, its too limiting. I can't relate with most metal band's mentality on trying to be so extreme in every way, it's been done, over and over. I just wanted to revive what I think metal lacks, "meaning, deep emotion, personal"
It seems the only connection in those veins are never metal, mostly Pop/Rock, Indie, Country, etc. if I hear another scary Devil song with bloody guts I'm gonna hang myself!
2. How would you describe your sound and style?
Um...real. Not trying to be impressive, simple in many ways, catchy, imagine Billy Corgan chilling out with, Jonas from Katatonia, and drinking some booze with ISIS.
3. What current releases do you have available and where can we find them?
My Final Demise 01 You Caved my Karma in 03 Separation 7' single 04 Breathe before you Die -early 06 release
We still have the Separation records there 4$ US PP 5$ World the other two are only available on cdrs' at the current moment. You can email me elusivechris@aol.com
4. What concepts do you base your lyrics on? Are there any particular themes you try to follow?
I just try to write about what ever makes me spaced out and all warm inside, (feelings about my life) I just get rushes here and there and all of the sudden words pour out, lyrics are easy for me, the music is the harder part, I hate writing music most of the time, I can do it but its stressful to me, I dunno why, maybe cuz I don't feel like a great musician, but I'm much more comfortable with words. Seemingly enough I have had to write ALL the bands Material.
One thing I used to follow as a theme was just how complicated and empty I used to feel. I always wanted to leave some sort of hope in the lyrics, cuz I am a positive person but in all of the releases up until now (not including Breathe). It was all about that everything was very hopeless and meaningless, basically a lot of anger towards the coldness of the world around me. People trying to understand people is a very difficult thing, but now its a lot different. I'm kinda tired of all that, and I am trying to base my words a lot more on healthier subjects, it will always deep and dark, but dark can be beautiful as well.
5. What inspires Elusive Travel outside of music? Do you follow any political or religious ideals for example?
Basically everything that happens to me in my life. I don't know how long that I will continue that form, but for now its the source, no politics, and yes I believe in God, but that's my personal life. I don't like talking about music and God or anything of that matter, its all opinion, everyone's different.
6. If you had to choose one band that heavily inspires and influences Elusive Travel who would it be and why?
I would say lyrically, and when I say inspires that doesn't mean there's anything similar in what I write, but Smashing Pumpkins, Red House Painters, Pedro the Lion and Soulwhirlingsomewhere, Katatonia, and Anathema.
Those bands mainly because there all very personal and deep emotive creators.
7. Can you give the readers a sample of your lyrics and explain the meaning behind them?
Ok sure, um here's a line from Separation " the only thing that keep alive, was learning to be so empty"
Basically if you're gonna make it in this world you need to be a lot tougher than you are, and also once you learn that there's a lot of disappointments and you can accept that the better off you will be. In a way I'm being sarcastic because I felt so empty in that particular song. The song All the things I'd die for "will I ever be some one that moves you?, will I ever know love and all its mistake will I ever feel that way again, will I ever know a moment of completion" its about being terribly afraid of loving someone, and feeling like you are never going to be of use to anyone again, the after math of getting crushed basically.
8. What's your opinion on the whole Myspace and metal scene? Do they go together well and do you find My Space to be a beneficial tool for your band?
Um Myspace? Well its pretty neat I think. Man I have gotten in touch with so many people I lost contact with, its fun its free I like it!
The metal scene is awful if your like me looking for good original bands, metal is the genre of trying to forge originality.
Sure anything online can certainly help a band promotion wise, and its been good for us so far were doing this interview aren't we? That's great for us, its been a while thanks.
9. You were also working with a side project called And Here I Lie. In your opinion is there any comparison between the two bands? What's the reason for the split of And Here I Lie?
Actually ...And Here I lie wasn't a side project at all. It was probably the greatest band that I have ever been a part of, it was from 94'-00'. I was the drummer and all most complete lyricist. We were all very close friends for years prior to the band's conception and when we got Mike Wall now (Cortisol) it was a great addition that instantly felt like he was a part of the family.
There are some comparisons, such as the doomy sludge aspect and of course the lyrics again produced by myself, AHIL was much more doomier and about absolute depression, feeling cursed, & severe loss.
Where as ET started out more angry and stripped down, with sad over tones. ET became a bit more direct, because I could finally sing my own words again. Because it was always someone else singing my words, it was there interpretation of my feelings, except Mike towards the end wrote his own lyrics with me still doing a song here and there. It was very interesting to do that both ways. I love everything any singer has ever done with this band period.
AHIL split in the Summer of 00' when Mike moved to Canada, that was basically it. I wanted to go south, he wanted to go north, we both had good reason's on moving I was just hoping that it was to the same place, but it just didn't work out that way. We're even better friends now than ever, and there are still hopes of getting together to record again, who knows?
We did a lot Mil Metal Fest a Canadian Tour, shows in Cincinnati with Thorns of the Carrion, Rain Fell Within etc, plus there was a lot of underground surface mail being done by Noah.
Anyhow here's our Myspace link:
http://www.myspace.com/andhereilie
10. Ok let's get a bit of a mention in here for your upcoming release. What can you share with us such as album title, tracks, release dates and special appearances?
Yeah its called "Breathe Before you Die" it should be out by early 08'. here's the track listing
1. to last a life time 2. love will crush you as you did I 3. so secure 4. you bring the loneness 5. breaking me 6. 7 days 7. vacant 8. heart is gone
Rick McCoy from Avernus will be doing some singing, Dawn Desiree (Rain Fell Within) on vocals, Alex Niedt on keys/vocals and Chris from Avernus on keys also.
11. Are there any websites relevant to Elusive Travel you'd like to mention?
12. So aside from the upcoming release what else can we expect from Elusive Travel in the near future?
Probably new music sounding nothing what were playing now. I'm always moving in all directions I have to experiment.
13. The last words are yours to claim...
Thanks to anyone that actually bought our shit and listens to our music that really means a lot and to 137 the koolest band I have ever known!
So this comes to mind... there are many people that will try and stand in your way of succeeding mostly band mates, it sux but you just gotta move on. There's been a lot of people in this band, but I always planned it that way. ET is Chris Dalcin and always will be until I find very dedicated people! On that note thanks for the interview.
Cheers Chris

Elusive Travel seeks mature individual must be at least 21, good, fast double bass skills good gear no broken cymbals (one is not a big deal) must have a job and your own car willing to jam twice a week we don't intend on rushing anything just to play a crappy local show there is an actual plan going with the band,we have been around since 2000,have toured a few times short runs like "one week" lots of weekends tours also, on top of lots of local shows back in Cincinnati (just moved back to Rochester in July) ! I am not motivated by money, I just want to create original music! I would like a band that believes in the music and what the lyrics have to say! I'm not doing this for money and I suggest that if you don't know how the "Metal underground scene" works then please don't apply, not to sound rude but I am not going to waste my time trying to explain to someone why were are not gonna be rich and on MTV! I am a very easy person to work with and I am very understanding about any situation, I am looking for a person who can open themselves up and join the band as a full member, I want your ideas as well. I want your input, I want your style! this band has A LOT of potential and I know a lot of people that can help us get to a label and get on a sweet little mini tour or get over to Europe to play a week or two.
