New Lineup n New Album
All this newness, where's something dirty and old...??
The band has changed lineup recently, amicably and positively. Departing members Justin Castley (bass) and Lachlan Gurr (mando/banjo) will be sorely missed but change being the only constant in this universe...vale gentle beasts...
The group is now a 5-piece again, for the first time in a few years, seeing Ryan Dux (of Perth bands The Floors and The Embers) take up bass duties for upcoming shows. He cooks.
A new album is scheduled to be recorded over the coming stinking fucking hot January here in WA and we will be doing that with the help of a very talented Canadian called Burke Reid.

Due to the overwhelming response from fans and swag of sold out shows on the east coast in May, those dashing swamp monsters from the wild west, The Kill Devil Hills head east again this August. Described as "one of the best live bands this country has to offer" The Kill Devil Hills' rickety, dirty, intense take on rock, folk, gospel, country and blues makes for a brooding and volatile live show. This is a band searching for the delicate balance between beauty and savagery: gristly electric guitar and overdriven violin vying against the fragile twang of a banjo; a heartaching drawl matched against the swelling cacophony. Don't be dissuaded by the banjo, mandolin or fiddle though. This is a serious rock-and-roll band on their last journey east before they start work on their much anticipated third album, and as a treat for you all they'll be road testing some new songs before setting them in stone.
Make sure you get in early, their last shows sold out fast...

Its been almost a year since the rambling, 6 piece swamp rock darlings of the wild west – the Kill Devil Hills- played shows on the East Coast. In that time, they toured to Canada and the US, won a handful more WAMi awards, released their second album to rave reviews in Europe and recorded a song especially for this trip. The song is called "Hungry and Down" and will be available on limited edition 7" vinyl only at these shows. It was recorded live with Award winning engineer Dave Parkin (Snowman, Bob Evans, Red Jezebel) at his Blackbird Studio and mixed by their masterful live sound engineer, Dr David Carter. The B-side was recorded in a deserted workers club in the middle of the bush in WA, using only one microphone and is a real treat.
For those unfamiliar with the band, the Kill Devil Hills formed in early 2003 as a cowpunk trio and have mutated into a sonic stew of rock, folk, gospel, blues and punk, carving out their own weird take on the great Australian tradition of swamp music. They’ve released 2 albums and soon a single and are quite frankly, one of the best live bands in Australia at the moment.
