We found out its a boy and we are very excited, Liam is coming! :)

I still have dreaded morning sickness but it stays at bay as along as I take my handy prescription I've been given for it. It really helps.

I'm 20 weeks and have only gained about 12 pounds which I think is good. I am trying to stay in the 20-25 pound range.

Has anyone ever been excited about buying a human torture device? Count me in! I am so excited today I found a double breast electric pump on sale for $38! $38 for an electric double breast pump! I had been drooling over it for a month now. Its regular price was $60, then it lowered to $45, but today it was down to $38 so I jumped on it!

I've been very fortunate with my thrift store finds(bouncer and walker for $1 each!) but also very fortunate to have my family and friends(big shout out to Mrs Becky for Maternity donations and big shout out for donations from Mrs Carole including but not limited to a swing, maternity, tons and tons of boy clothes, a gate.

Hola World!

John and I are expecting! This is a very exciting time for us and I'll try to update you as much as possible.

Right now the main update is nausea! I'm getting sick almost daily, even with vomit medicine! Luckily I am heading toward my second trimester so hopefully morning sickness will go away with that.

It was amazing to see our baby's heartbeating.

Do you think we are having a boy or a girl? Comment and tell me!

If it's a girl, Juliet Lynn Patterson

If it's a boy, William(Liam) Michael Patterson

This link is a holiday budget worksheet: http://www.betterbudgeting.com/freeworksheets/christmasgiftlist.htm

These frugal gifts are great for any occasion all throughout the year, including Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, end-of-school teacher gifts and more.  They also make great hostess gifts during the holidays.

There are hundreds of great gifts that can be purchased or made by hand for under $10, gifts that are both thoughtful and frugal at the same time.  Put them in an inexpensive basket or wrap them with a pretty ribbon and you'll truly have a beautiful gift--without breaking the bank!

I know you've probably heard it before but it's really true that you don't have to spend a lot of money to find that perfect gift for someone.  Just be sure to put some time and thought into it and your gift will be well received...

Our loved ones probably appreciate our time and love more than anything.

Current mood:motivated!
10/01/07 Yay! 178. I have been eatting by my eatting plan below, with the occasional second helping or slip up, and it is going well. If I can lose 20 more pounds I will be thrilled. I also checked out a book at the library, huge book with 225 fat free recipes. thas is inspiring.

09/13/07 Ok! So, last weekend went very poorly, diet wise. I ate pizza donuts, pasta, you name it, I ate it, and tons of it. Even though I stepped on the scale Tuesday morning weighing more than I did on the 6th when I decided to diet, I didn't let that sway me. I jumped back in, head first. I devised a diet out of pure desperation. I mean, I was looking at a 187 on the scale on Tuesday, something had to be done! This is the diet I am following:

Breakfast:
a measured cup of cereal w/ measured cup of fat free milk
OR a lowfat granola bar

Lunch:
lettuce & fat free dressing,
OR 1 tuna wrap made w/ ff mayo, mustard, relish and ff wrap
OR Tuna or canned Chicken & lettuce w/ ff dressing
OR a lowfat cup of soup w/ veggies

Dinner:
Any time of none breaded chicken cooked in anyway(baked boiled) w/ any veggies. Rule: no butter or any ingredient that is more than a gram of fat

Snacks:
throughout the day I snack on Celery w/ ff blue cheese
OR a cup of broth(chicken or beef flavored from the little cubes)

Desert at night:
a cup of nonfat yogurt(banana cream pie flavor, walmart brand cheap and yum)
or a small serving of sherbet
or a small bowl of cereal
or, of course, a serving of animal crackers

After desert if I am still feeling snackish and hungry, I resort back to the celery.

I understand that this is a very low fat/no fat diet, I've been successful in the past with the low fat no fat method. And so far, today is Thursday, day 3 of this menu of a diet, and I am at 180 pds. Yay.

Trust me, I feel hungry. Alot. I wish I could say this diet was so filling, but I think as my stomach shrinks it will get easier. When ever I am hungry I munch on celery which helps.

I encourage anyone trying to lose weight to jump on the diet band wagon. I found that making myself a menu(with a lot of 'or's in it for variety) was more successful for me then writing down what I eat(cause I was writing down pizza and donuts!) So, make yourself a list of what you will eat and stick to it. Make sure it is things you love or you wont stick to it and give yourself choices so you don't get bored eatting the same thing all the time. Let me know how you are doing and we will encourage each other!

09/06/07 Starting a diet today but in the spirit of thrifty-ness and fun, I thought I'd note, Dieting IS NOT expensive. It is if you buy specialized gourmet/prepackaged food. Consider this. Portion control.

I tried nutrisystem until I realized, Nutrisystem and many other diet plans out there are based on portion control. so save money on diet books and start reading the nutrition panel instead. For those who think dieting is expensive, its cheaper! An easy money saver, follow the portions on the box! A bag of Malt-o-meal cereal can yeild about 30 servings(depending on the bag). Now thats cheap! You'll be shaving alot of calories from your diet with out sacrificing the things you love to eat, just eatting alittle less.  If you have trouble with self control, pre-portion snacks in baggies or cereal in plastic containers so all you have to do is add milk.

Example:
those 100 calorie packs in the store, a box of 6 look easy and tempting to buy, About $2.50 a box.
Instead I bought a 2 pound bag of animal crackers. 30 servings for about $2. That's about oh, 7 cents a serving. 40 cents a 'box' worth. I split it into portions so I am not tempted to over indulge and so that its handy. At 120 calories and 2 grams of fat. I am feeling good about my budget and my diet.

I will let you know how my diet goes and please feel free to let me know how yours is going(of you have one that is!!) Also leave some thrifty diet tips

Also, Quit buying workout tapes! http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/bettertv/ has hundreds of worksouts avalible to view online free! Move your chair out of the way and burn calories right in from of your computer!
