Rose and her band will be playing in London on Sunday 13th of September--on a boat! Yeah, that's right, on a boat!

And, as you can see, Eva Eden will also be appearing and the night is being organized by Rose's friends at Kaparte and tursa--and the always lovely SonVer will be appearing there in November too!

Tickets available here.

Rose's friend Simon Finn (on whose recent CD Rose contributed vocals) will be appearing in Brighton tomorrow (Friday 19th September) with her other friends Joolie Wood and Karl Blake (all 3 occasional members of Current 93) at the Red Roaster Cafe.  Show begins at about 8pm.  She's planning to attend and recommends it to everyone in the South East of England as this is his only appearance in England in the immediate future.

She's also finished another phase of her massive house-clearance and a number of items of clothing that wouldn't find a home in her village's tiny charity shop are currently on eBay.  Some colourful vintage dresses, a few gothy items, and one blue polka dot dress from the early Strawberry Switchblade days.  A search for "RMCD" in the title should bring up most items.

AFTER LISBON
January 26th saw a rare appearance by Rose and the full line-up of her backing band (as yet to be named, suggestions welcome) in the heart of beautiful Lisbon at the Music Box.  She and all the musicians that appeared on the night would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended and especially to Rui, Paula, Michael, Ema, Pedro and André whose hard work, warm hospitality and company made for a most wonderful weekend.

NEW MUSIC
It was a special night also as it was the first night that Rose, Naevus, and SonVer shared the stage.  To mark the occasion a limited-run CD-R was produced that includes 2 tracks each from SonVer, Naevus, and Rose.  All tracks are exclusive to this release and unavailable elsewhere and Rose's tracks are new, original songs--her first in nearly 8 years.  A very small number will be available through the usual channels for Rose-related merchandise for those who wish to purchase them at the same time as other items, otherwise it is available through Dagaz Music.  Email info@dagaz-music.com for more information.

EBAY
Rose has recently been cleaning out her house, alternately throwing things out, giving them away, or donating them to Oxfam.  Though she normally tries to stay very far away from online commerce, a couple friends convinced her that some of her clothes would not be fully appreciated at the charity shop in her tiny village and would find a better home on eBay.  A rather random assortment of clothes can be found here or simply search for "RMCD" in the title.  A few more items, including dresses that Rose has worn onstage over the past few years, will be added over the next week or so.

WEBSITE
As some of you have noticed, rosemcdowall.com is currently down after certain issues with the service provider.  We hope the situation will be remedied soon.  The store is still accessible.

THE BEAUTIFUL MEL
We would also like to call your attention to two people who could use your help.  Rose's very dear friend Mel, a beautiful young woman who has worked tirelessly to promote fien music in Edinburgh (incl Rose's Edinburgh concert in 2006) and as a core member of the Whitby Gothic Weekend team, is currently struggling against cancer.  She and her partner have recently had to move house and have a long, difficult, and costly road ahead.  Any and all donations to help would be ver gratefully received.

FREE CAT FROM DUBAI
We would also like to call your attention to Cat Le-Huy.  31-year-old Cat Le-Huy, Head of Technology at Endemol UK, was detained and arrested during a tourist visit to Dubai for carrying melatonin, an over-the-counter jet lag aid. Though once in custody Le-Huy tested negative for drugs and his melatonin was cleared by officials, he is still in Dubai jail with no charges and no release date.  Cat Le-Huy, aka Diz, is currently in custody with no official charges against him and no end in sight.  For more information please see his partner's news updates here and here and sign the petition here.

Wild wishes and fairy kisses from Rose, the Cake Knife, and all at RMcD-HQ.

Rose McDowall will be performing live at the Indietracks Festival on 28th of July.  She and her backing band are currently scheduled to headline in the railway chapel starting at 7:50pm though times are subject to change and we suggest getting there early enough to enjoy the Bobby McGees and other fab bands on both stages.  More information available at the festival website and Indietracks MySpace page.  This is Rose's only scheduled live appearance this year.

Also, the interview with Rose, previously broadcast twice on Resonance FM has been chopped up, compressed, and split into two pieces that can be heard through the MP3 player on Rose's MySpace profile.  We apologise for the sound quality--at nearly 40minutes long it needed quite a bit of compression.  We'll leave it there for a few weeks and then put some songs back up.

The original programming also included a number of songs featuring Rose on lead vocals that were cut from this MySpace version due to time and space limitations.  They were

Death in June - Heiligetod

Current 93 - A Sadness Song

Death in June - To Drown a Rose

Rosa Mundi - Christmas is Now Drawing Near

Rose McDowall - Crystal Days

Sorrow - Let There Be Thorns

Spell - Our Own Way

This just in:
An interview with
Rose McDowall will be broadcast on London's Resonance FM 104.4fm as part of Will Stone's The Hour of the Apocalypse series at 11:30pm (UK time) on Monday the 15th of January.

Londoners can listen the old-fashioned way, while everyone else can visit the
Resonance website to hear the show via streaming RealAudio, mp3, or OGG formats. And keep listening every Monday night for the rest of the season as future installments will include a few of Rose's friends and collaborators.

Addendum:  A number of people have asked about listening via an archived podcast after having missed the broadcast or encountered technical difficulties.  This will probably be possible and someone will make a bulletin or blogpost at the time.

Wild wishes from Rose & her friends

This MySpace profile is irregularly maintained and monitored by Rose herself, and occasionally otherwise by someone else. She eventually reads and appreciates any/all messages/comments but her time online is sparse and limited and does not always get a chance to reply in a timely manner. Or sometimes at all.

Friend requests are  generally approved unless you look suspiciously like a spam profile. Or a creep. If you feel you have been rejected in error, please write.

Requests from band or musician profiles will probably be quickly rejected without listing Rose or a Rose-related project in the interests/influences bit. If you are a musician/band and you don't have Rose/Sorrow/Spell/StrawberrySwitchblade or some other Rose-related project in your interests/influences then please send an email along with your friend-request.   Same goes for anyone with a non-musician profile dedicated to selling something.

And if your profile has too much animation, music, embedded videos and other stuff and never fully loads or causes our browswers to crash, you might not get friended.

Please don't leave comments with HUGE pictures . They will be deleted as the mood strikes.  As will advertising.

The website shop now has copies of Grief (picture disc with Jhonn Balance & Tactile and Rosa Mundi) and The Poems - Achieving Unity, a 3 track 7" by the punky-noise-experimental-artsy group with Rose and Drew McDowall (the same Drew that later joined Coil).  The latter are the remains of the original 1982 pressing and not a rerelease.
