What a weekend. The car didn't need much after Oregon Trail despite pushing harder than we ever had before.

Unfortunately at Parc Expose the car showed signs of trouble brewing. A steady stream of transmission fluid pouring from the passenger side drive flange showed that we may have transmission problems. We were able to fix the issue at Parc Expose.

On the first stage of the rally the drive flange problem showed its face again, this time we couldn't fix the problem on stage and we DNF'ed without finishing a stage.

On day two we came back with renewed vigor, a better transmission and the intent of finishing the second day. On the first stage we weren't pressing as hard as possible and we still set the fastest 2wd time. On the second stage, one of the longest in the country at 26 miles, we had an off.

About 20 miles into the stage we missed a blind corner that had been called out numerous times. The car went straight through a 90 left. We were able to limp the car back out on stage, but significant damage was done and the drive axle finally gave up another mile down the road. Total damage included a sheared a-arm, ball joint, brake line, strut, tie-rod, and broken spirits

The Olympus was a disappointment for us as we were there with a new partner and a clean car. We're happy we have until September until the next event....time to get to work on repairs.

The Demon Rally Team achieved mixed results at this years Oregon Trail Rally. We went out of our way to prepare the car and entered ourselves in our first national competition.

Out of the block we hit trouble, a cooling issue on the third stage and an ignition problem on the fourth stage dropped us back 6 minutes on the first day.

On day two we came out strong...too strong. A mistake on the first stage dropped our car off the edge of a 50 foot ravine, luckily a stump stopped the car from rolling to the bottom. after being pulled out by sweep, we lost 40 minutes on the stage and fought back the entire day on used tires through the slower cars.

On day three our efforts finally paid off. With new tires on the car and a renewed effort the team was out to make a name for ourselves. On the third stage we were the fastest group two car placing 1st in our group, 1st in the regional rally and a top ten time in the National rally. The last day made our weekend. had we not pulled a bogus time penalty we would have finished third in the regional rally and first in the group 2 rally at the end of the day. Truly great results for a team with issues the whole weekend!

(Aberdeen, Wa.) - The Demon Rally Team's debut at the DooWop Rally Series was to, say the least, a very successful event.

Day one was a learning experience for the team; luckily we had a great service team lined up. Our crew chief Gus kept us in line all weekend, and Rob From Fine Tuning Performance was an invaluable asset for us, these two individuals performed miracles at service all day and really helped the team to finish well.

On the second stage of the rally we lost a few seconds when we slid up on a snow bank. Later in the day we bent a stock rabbit a-arm on the Tahola stage, luckily we had two special reinforced a-arms waiting to go on the car when we got back to service. Near the end of the day our stage times and communication level had improved significantly. Unfortunately we had an off on the last stage of the day and got high centered on a burm and only by the might of Don Burress' 150lb frame did we end up getting off the burm. We lost about seven minutes getting the car out and back on the road.

The second day started out great. We came out strong and fast topping our nearest group 2 competitors by over 15 seconds, the car's power helped us to turn out a pair of excellent times on these two pavement stages. It was incredible to come out 8th overall after the second run of blue slough. We lost an intake plug somewhere on the pico left stage, which made for a no power condition below about 5,000 rpm, which was ok, cause we were running up there all day, but we lost a good amount of time on the stage due to lack of power. On Pico right we lost an inner drive flange seal and the transmission dumped all of it's fluid into the driver's side CV axle; it started making good noises on the way back to service. My crew was awesome, they took care of every issue the car threw at them, and luckily we had all of the spare parts on hand to fix the problems.

We ended up snagging novice trophies as well as a group two win on day two. It was a great way to end a ridiculously satisfying weekend. We certainly couldn't have completed this event without Fine Tuningsupporting our efforts, specifically Rob for taking the time out of his own schedule to come help us out at the event, and Chris for making the necessary arrangements in order to support us this year. We also have to thank our crew chief Gus for spending the last two years helping us to build the car, preparing it for the DooWop rallyand motivating us to get our butts out their. Without these individuals, we wouldn't have made it to the DooWop rally...and what a great rally to start on!

The Demon Rally Team is making the necessary arrangements to run again at the Oregon Trail Rally on April 21-13rd near Portland, OR.
