SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: Bottletree's 3rd Anniversary Show w/ WHITE DENIM/ BRAZOS/ THE GRENADINES!
$1 Pints: Terrapin Brown IPA and Terrapin Rye Pale Ale!!!! When a
band's first album is unpredictable enough to invoke comparisons with
artists as wildly diverse as hardcore innovators the Minutemen and
professorial idiosyncrasy of Randy Newman, then you can reasonably
assume its been made by people who care about music. Lots of it. Jazz,
punk, funk, country, acid rock, even piano ballads – all these labels
have been used, accurately, to describe White Denim. Their second
record is more problematic though. It has to sound like them.
Fits; the title is both a knowingly bad pun and a reference to the odd
tantrum endured in its creation- manages just that. Recorded and
produced by the band in their infamous studio/trailer, Fits is more
coherent than debut Workout Holiday, yet sacrifices none of its
imagination. *We'll have drawings for prizes! Grand prize getting into
shows free for one year! Tickets are $10 / Ages 18+ / Doors at 8pm.

TUES. NOVEMBER 10: ROCK PAPER ROCK PRESENTS
A.A. BONDY / ELVIS PERKINS IN DEARLAND
TUES NOV 10TH ROCK PAPER ROCK PRESENTS: A.A. BONDY / ELVIS PERKINS IN DEARLAND
Two amazing artists in one night! Birmingham native, A.A. BONDY(Scott Bondy of Verbena) returns to Birmingham in support of his new album "When the Devil's Loose"(to be released Sept. 1st on Fat Possum Records). The former Verbena frontman leaves behind the rock crunch of his former band for bluesy folk songs about damnation and salvation. It ends up somewhere between Bob Dylan and Ryan Adams, wrapped in flannel shirts and muddied boots.
Elvis Perkins is no stranger to Bottletree but most recently wowed fans when he opened for Bon Iver at Workplay in June. Elvis Perkins (born February 9, 1976) is a folk-rock singer-songwriter and the son of actor Anthony Perkins(from the movie Psycho). Perkins' father was well known Elvis Presley aficionado and thus named his son Elvis.
Doors at 8pm / Show starts at 9pm 18 and up Tickets are $15 get advance tickets at www.thebottletree.com or at the bar at bottletree!

PAST PRAISE FOR ISLAND’S RETURN TO THE SEA LP: a rollicking, whimsical sound … The songs meld radio-friendly melodies with alt-folk orchestrations and surrealist lyrics. –SPIN In a modern day world of homogenous indie bands, it is extremely refreshing when introduced to a band that have managed to acheve some originality. – RADAR Islands are poised to turn heads this year with their brand of manic, uber-catchy pop. -PITCHFORK MEDIA It’s sprawling, ambitious pop music. – FILTER Tickets for this show are $15. This is an early all ages show. Doors at 5pm. SHOW AT 6PM

THURS. OCT 29: SPELLS / HEADLIGHTS / POMEGRANATES
Wildlife, Headlights’ poignant third album(Polyvinyl), stems from particularly troubled beginnings. The Champaign, IL quartet who have been touring and recording since 2004, this year found the band as a five piece for the first time with the addition of bassist Nick Sanborn and, temporarily, guitarist John Owen. Group dynamics are a difficult thing to predict, and the recording process proved tumultuous. After a few months, the band scrapped nearly everything. Wildlife is an album haunted by the absence of those left and leaving and the alienation that comes in the wake of loss. Fittingly, these emotions find expression in Headlights most arresting music yet. Rather than collapsing under the duress, Headlights have survived to surface with a collection of exquisite paeans to the transience of our friendships, lives, and aspirations. With The Pomegranates and Spells who return to Bottletree for their first show since taking a break to record their new album! Doors at 8pm / Show at 9pm 18 and up Tickets are $8 get tickets at www.thebottletree.com or at the bar
