JB of the Video Killerz did this video for my remix of Jay-Z "Change Clothes". I flipped the re-souled version of Bob James with my own beats and edits to make it more spaced out and dream-like. Much thanks to JB.

I made this back in 2005, but I guess I was in a strange place mentally.

I love it....

So I recently heard My Bloody Valentine re-united and they are playing a couple of shows. Lucky for me, they are playing in NYC, so hopefully God willing I can make one of those shows. I bought tickets to the San Francisco show since I couldnt seem to get tickets on-line for the NYC shows, and we'll see if I make that journey. I can always sell em if I decide I can't make it out.

Anyway, I went ahead I down-loaded an earlier album from MBV called "Isn't Anything" today and I'm sad I didn't get into this album earlier. I loved "Loveless", and "Isn't Anything" is just as good if not better than the later album. I can remember listening to the Glider EP when my friend Marshal first introduced me to MBV, and being blown away by the harmonics and sound of the band. "Soon" really struck a chord with me with it's use of a great drums and lush sound-scapes, back then and the video is simply amazing.

I was such a fan back in 1992 that I went to the concert when they played the Gothic in Denver and was one of the first people in line. I got to stand right up front with my chest against the stage between Belinda and Kevin. Still too this day nothing tops that concert experience.

Here is a great recent interview with Kevin Shields, you can see the whole thing on the Soft Focus section of the VBS.TV web site.

I also ventured into another band that had MBV under-tones but was diffrent, Dinosaur Jr. I was a fan of them from watching skate videos as a kid, and I remember "Freak Scene' being the song that was used on the Jason Lee part in the video "Video Day's", listening to them now really brings me back to those simple times in my life. "Start Choppin" is a newer cut from them and it's groove that they hit after the chorus is amazing.

Jay Z-Change Clothes 104 Rusty B remix

I probably spent way too much time working on this and not new AGFA material for our next album. But I really like the way this came out, I flipped Bob James under some Jay-Z for some dreamland style remix.

I'm feeling some of this hipster electro house movement that has been going strong for a while now, but this cat Herve keeps popping up all over the place and I m starting to get into his grind-house fidget house sound. Its got an edge to it, and sometimes it works like the following example and sometimes it kinda of misses the mark like his Uncle Jam remix of "Love Ya". Anyway, the new Chemical Brothers album is out. I'm not really feeling most of it, but the Salmon Dance song made me smile and that's a good thing. The fact they got Fat Lip on it was a selling point, being that Pharcyde was the soundtrack to my high school years.

Here is the remix, stolen from the discobelle blog..

Fannypack-Smack it up-RustyB-Re-Edit

http://www.zshare.net/audio/2954530f06b412/

Longer intro, fixed outro, cut a little fat from the end of the middle...:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I loved the first Fannypack album when it came out, plus really I have a big soft spot for female rappers. Something about that school girl rap that gets me going, and I really liked the throw-back production. I always thought "Smack it up" could use some love. So here it is, my mixable version with a longer intro and outro.. feel me on this..
