Current mood: bummed
I'm sad to report that due to other commitments, both personal and professional, I won't be attending the 10th Annual Baltimore Comic-Con on October 10 & 11. I'm seriously bummed about this, because I've been going to Marc Nathan's excellent show for several years now and it never, ever disappoints! One of my favorite things about Baltimore Comic-Con is that it is so thoroughly and unabashedly a COMIC-con. Lots of people gripe that San Diego has been swamped with non-comics guests and programming. Check the Baltimore guest list. Each and every one on it is involved in actually making comic books. Even Jerry "The King" Lawler, best known for his wrestling exploits, is also a comic book illustrator! Plus, BCC hosts the Harvey Awards, the only industry awards where the nomination and voting is done entirely industry professionals!
Even though I won't be able to attend, if you're anywhere near Baltimore the second weekend of October, you'd be crazy to miss it.

Yup, that's where I'll be this weekend!
As everyone who has known me for very long knows, Mid-Ohio is one of my absolute favorite conventions of the year. I've been attending for over a decade now and every time I'm there, it feels like coming home.
Last year saw two major transitions, as con founder Roger Price passed the baton to James and Bill Henry of GLX Holdings and the date of the show moved from its traditional Thanksgiving weekend. I'm happy to report that neither change has lessened my fondness for Mid-Ohio Con in the least. James and Bill are doing a great job of carrying on the proud tradition of Mid-Ohio and the new date has allowed a number of folks (both fan and pro) who weren't able to attend over the holiday weekend to be a part of MOC.
If you're a comics fan and going to be anywhere near Columbus, Ohio this weekend, you should definitely stop by. You'll be glad you did!

Current mood: chipper
Although it's been Wizard World Chicago for the past several years, they're back to calling it Chicago Comic-Con in some (if not all) of the ads these days. Anyway, I'll be heading down to the Windy City (or at least its suburbs) for the show this weekend, August 6th-9th.
Best place to find me will be the Moonstone Books booth, #1439, where I'll be lending a hand and, should anyone ask, signing copies of my work. Obviously I'll be happy to sign copies of Revisionary, Moonstone Monsters: Werewolves, Moonstone Monsters: Zombies, Werewolves: Dead Moon Rising, Robin Hood & the Minstrel or Robin Hood the TPB, though if you've got stuff I've done for other publishers, I'll happily sign that stuff too!
If you're at the Con, stop by, say hi, and check out the cool stuff Moonstone has to offer!

Current mood: excited
A quick note to let folks know that I'll be attending Comic-Con International: San Diego (or, as I an many still call it, San Diego Comic-Con) this week/weekend.
I'm not currently scheduled to appear/sign at any booths, though I will likely try to lend a hand, from time to time, at the Maerkle Press booth (#2000) where my good pal Thom Zahler will have copies of his oh-so-cool comics, Love and Capes (a heroically super romantic comedy). Most of the time, though, I will be stalking the most dangerous game of all:
Editors!
I'll also be meeting, greeting, schmoozing, and generally having fun with a whole bunch of great friends that I only get to see a few times a year. Hope that some of you may be among them!

Current mood: pleased
Last night I had the pleasure of visiting cartoonists Mark Rudolph and Jerzy Drozd at their studio and participating in their fun and informative podcast about comics, Art & Story!
The guys had received some questions about the art and craft of comics writing, so they decided to have me on to talk a bit about that. "A bit" turned out to be around an hour and half. In my defense, Jerzy and Mark did their share of jawing as well.
I had a terrific time recording the 'cast. One of the things I love about attending comic-cons is the chance to shoot the breeze with other pros, discussing the nuts & bolts of comics creation, as well as the theory. This is basically one of those conversations I love having so much, but that you can listen in on!
So point your browser to Art & Story #97: The Big Storrie and check it out. If you have half as much fun listening as I did recording, you're going to have a whole lot of fun.

Current mood: excited
I'm pleased to report that I'll be a guest at the Kid's Read Comics! Convention on June 12th & 13th!
Here's the scoop from the KRC website:
Kids love comics. Kids want comics. Kids read comics.
Comics have held a huge appeal for kids and teens since the first Sunday funnies were introduced over a hundred years ago, and they still do today. From kid adventurers to superheroes to cartoon animals, and from humor to westerns to fantasy and more, comics have presented a wide range of stories to capture the imagination. But changing times (and lots of social, economic and technological factors we won’t go into here) have led to a smaller American comic book industry that tends to focus on an older audience. Comics have grown up, which is great! But that doesn’t have to mean that young readers get left behind. Kids still love comics and want to read them. The key is to get the right comics in their hands. That was the thinking that prompted a librarian, a cartoonist, a comic book writer and a comic shop owner to put together the Midwest’s first comic book convention for kids and teens, and to found KidsReadComics.org. We want to bring comics back to the kids who love them. And we believe that most kids will love them once they get hold of the kind of comics that were once a staple of every kid’s life. Updated for the twenty-first century, of course!
There are huge, untapped possibilities for comics, and we’re here to help make those possibilities real. Our first step is the Kids Read Comics Convention, a totally free event with the goal of spreading the joy and excitement of comics (and manga and anime and cartoons) through: - hands-on workshops - panels and presentations for kids, families, and educators - a chance for kids to meet and chat with comics and animation professionals - the opportunity for kids to have their own art portfolios reviewed
For more information go to our Programming page.
We hope to see you in Chelsea on June 12 & 13!
Other guests include: Mark Crilley, creator of the Aikiko books and comics, Dwayne McDuffie, Story Editor on Ben 10: Alien Force, writer/creator of Static Shock!, writer/producer for the Justice League Unlimited animated series, voice actors Tara Platt and Yuri Lowenthal, and many more! For the full guest list, check here.

Because the recent "5 questions with:" article I did for the Detroit
Free Press indicated I was going to be at Motor City Comic Con this
weekend, I just wanted to post a quick note letting folks know that
isn't the case. Don't blame the interviewer or the Free Press. We just
got our wires crossed somewhere along the way.
Anyway, for various and sundry reasons, I
won't be able to attend the show. However, I do hope to run into some
of my con-going friends at the hotel bar in the evenings!

today's "5 Questions" in the Detroit Free Press. For those of you
not in the Metro-Detroit area, you can read it online here: 5 questions with: Paul Storrie
