Current mood: accomplished
Feeling pretty darn accomplished...just posted a TON of new stuff in my webstore including new jewelry and a pre-order form for my first-ever hoodie! It's gorgeous and limited edition with a sexy pinup of Bettie Page with a tattoo machine on the back...very sassy and available in both men's and women's sizes. Yeah!!
http://hannahaitchison.com/merchandise.p..hp There'll be more new jewelry listed too, just in time to order for the holidays. Please check back again in a couple of days if you don't see just what you're looking for. And as an added incentive, anyone in the US who pre-orders a hoodie before the anticipated shipment date of December 18th will receive free shipping! Here's a special new piece that I just put out with my good friends at Classic Hardware! I really love this one: http://hannahaitchison.com/merchandise.p..hpIn other news, Holly just had another birthday and it was a great party with a few close friends chowing down on amazing Korean food and a birthday cake featuring a hysterical picture of Ms. H as a wee baby...damn cute (and hilarious to notice her reaction as she saw this old photo for the first time, decorated with pink frosting, no less!) Cutest baby photo EVER!!! My good friend Bret Grafton at Grafton Creative took an awesome round of pinup photos of me, he's so damn talented it's ridonculous! He took dozens but here are three of my faves: Check out his work at www.photografton.com! He is AMAZING!! I went back out to LA last month for a quick visit with Kim right before she opened her gorgeous new studio, Memoir...check out her developing shop at her MySpace page! http://www.myspace.com/tattooatelierI couldn't be happier that she and Shawn are building such an awesome space together and that life is treating her as well as she deserves. One of the greatest women on earth, she is. And that's no lie. Missed spending Thanksgiving with her this year, but had a wonderful time with my boyfriend and daughter and several wonderful friends. Hope you all ate well this Thanksgiving, and have amazing holiday plans with people you love... And I love you too!! Talk to you soon... xo Hanna

Hey gang -
It's spring, and of course that means a young girl's fancy turns to thoughts of...FASHION! So to remedy that, my friend Karyn at Classic Hardware and I came up with a fab new line of Victorian inspired vintage jewelry to round out the spring wardrobe. Now I have to admit I was selfish and primarily made things that I would want to wear, but they were so cool I think you'll like them too!
If you'd like to check out this fun new stuff, visit my store at http://hannahaitchison.com/merchandise.php (you'll need to copy and paste in your browser since don't know how to post a link - duh!)
And for more of my line, or more awesome stuff from Karyn at Classic Hardware, visit http://classichardware.com/retail.html
Thanks a bunch and let me know what you think!! I have to say that the pictures are kind of cruddy and don't really do the pieces any kind of justice...they are beautifully made right here in LA (no 12 year old Indonesian children were exploited to make this stuff!) and are absolute top quality. Classic Hardware has been around since 1995 and I've been wearing their pieces ever since.
Oh, and if you order your stuff through my site by April 7th, shipping is FREE!! Perfect for yourself, and even sweeter as a gift. What are you waiting for?
Thanks for everything, and hope you are having a fantastic spring! xo Hannah

Hey guys --
The wizards back at Casting Central are busy putting together a list of possible clients for the show for the upcoming season, and we'd love to see you there. If you've ever thought about being on our show, this is a great chance to do it!
The show is looking for folks who want a beautiful and interesting tattoo with a fun, interesting, tragic or beautiful story behind it.
I know, I know, plenty of tattoos don't have stories attached to them, some are just for the fun of it, but saying "it doesn't mean anything, I just wanted it!"- while true - doesn't make for very interesting tv and that's what we have to shoot for here. I hope you guys can understand.
If you've got a great story, a great tattoo idea and are able to travel to LA to do the work, our casting dept would love to hear from you.
Please be aware that this isn't a contest or an expense-paid thing --it's just like getting a tattoo anywhere else in that the client is responsible for the cost of the work and any travel associated with it. Just so ya know.
Please contact Isabel and Hilary by using the form at www.lainkcasting.com and they'll take it from there!
Thanks so much, it'd be great to meet you this season.
xo, Hannah

Hey ladies (and gents) -
During my all-too brief stay here in Chicago, one of the fun things I'm doing is collaborating with my good friends at WOLFBAIT & B-GIRLS in Logan Square to host an introductory knitting class!! If you're in the area and have ever wanted to learn to knit, I'll be teaching the (very) basics next Thursday night, Jan. 29th from 7-9pm in a fun & funky setting. Wine will also be served! Knitting and wine? You betcha!
Class space is VERY LIMITED, so if you're interested, give my friends Shirley & Jenny a call to book your space. The $30 fee includes needles, gorgeous yarn, the 2 hour class and a little how-to booklet with everything you need to know to complete a groovy sampler scarf.
For more info, go to http://wolfbaitchicago.com/ ...hope to see ya there!!
Mwah, Hannah

As many of you have correctly pointed out, MY BAD -- I didn't include the info on how to order shirts. DUH.
Anyway, I am a dope with computers and don't know how to post an HTML link, so just copy this and paste in your browser: http://hannahaitchison.com/merchandise.php
That should get you where you need to go. Due to my dumminess, I will keep the special postage rates for another week. SORRY!!!!
And all you folks who requested larger sizes: Duly noted!! Since shirts are expensive to order, I had to keep the initial run kinda small, but I'll get a wider range of sizes next time round, AND due to popular demand, watch for Baby Banana tees and onesies, too.
With any luck, finances will also permit me to do a special Holiday Hoodie just in time for gift giving...keep your eyes out here!
Thanks for everything and have a GREAT holiday season... cheers, Hannah xo!

I found out recently that a dear friend has formed a walking team for this year's LA Aids Walk, and made the last minute decision to join him for this important and inspiring event. If you live in the LA area and are intersted in joining us that would be incredible -- and of course if you are able to, I'd be stoked as can be if you'd be interested in sponsoring me online. The link to my page is https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=278287&lis=0&kntae278287=8255CBA011F14107AABC35C0BCA02C79
Just a couple of dollars can buy lifesaving medication for someone without insurance for a day (and a lot of us know how it feels to struggle just to meet regular medical costs!!)
Here's the Info:
We need YOU to join Team "Walk For Rob - 0431" for this year's AIDS Walk Los Angeles!
Online registration is available at the AIDS Walk website: www.aidswalk.net. Click to AIDS Walk Los Angeles and go to "REGISTER ONLINE". Remember to indicate that you are on Team "Walk For Rob - 0431". You can download your sponsor form to print out immediately and receive your Walker Kit from the AIDS Walk office. Encourage your family members and friends to register online to walk with our team- the more the better!
Please join our team and walk on Sunday, October 19th - it's an important cause and an inspiring day.
For more info, follow This Link: https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=278287&lis=0&kntae278287=8255CBA011F14107AABC35C0BCA02C79 to visit my personal web page and help me in my efforts to support AIDS Walk Los Angeles.
I know this is a time when we are all experiencing a financial pinch - and I genuinely appreciate every dollar you can spare for this important cause.
Thanks so very much. You're all wonderful.
xo, Hannah

Time to get on the soapbox :^) Greetings, everyone --
I hope you're all having a fantastic fall!! The Santa Ana winds have hit us out here in LA and they have brought a wonderful, cool windy season that reminds me so much of Chicago I actually feel a bit homesick over it...just magical to fall asleep at night listening to the palms blowing in the breeze.
Hope you caught the first episode of our new season last Thursday night, where I tattooed a luchador (!) and you got to meet our awesome new shop manager, Naheed. Keep an eye out for more of her, she is truly an amazing person, professional and all around hot mama.
On a more personal note, though, I feel compelled to take a couple minutes to address something that I feel is incredibly important, this year more than ever:
Are you (and your friends/family) registered to vote?
I know, I know...you're sick of hearing about it. Hell, so am I. I want it to be December already with the election behind us and a great new guy in the White House. Frankly, all the ups and downs and dirty pool of the election season just make me too darn anxious. I actually lose sleep over this stuff!
But this is one of the most important presidential elections in our lifetime. It's historic in so many ways. And anyone who still feels that their vote doesn't matter, or whoever is in office doesn't make a difference - well, may I remind you of how bad things have gotten over the last eight years? We are in a position to change it - you and me and everyone we know - and the future of our great country is has the chance to take a much stronger direction.
I won't bore you with the details of my own personal leanings here as far as candidates go - but what matters to me most of all is just that everyone I know gets out there and votes on November 4th. Since I'm living out of state, I have sent for an absentee ballot (something a lot of you might need to do) so my vote will count in my home state of Illinois where I'm registered.
If you are not yet registered, IT MAY NOT BE TOO LATE! Laws vary from state to state, and some will even let you register and vote on the same day (like Illinois!) There is an excellent website you can check out for state by state voting and registration laws that will tell you how to register, how to vote and how to obtain an absentee ballot in your state.
Just go to http://www.declareyourself.com/voting_faq/state_by_state_info_2.html and they can get you where you need to go.
If you go to the polls on November 4th and they try to deny you a vote by claiming that you are not on the rolls or that you have been purged because of a foreclosure, ASK FOR A PROVISIONAL BALLOT. They must give you one by law. Voter roll purging is at a record high, and it's one of the dirty tricks employed to try and keep people from voting - especially the very people who have been most impacted by this country's current financial and mortgage crisis. EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO VOTE who is registered and not currently convicted of a felony (even some folks who were and are now on parole, however, can vote) or judged to be mentally incapable. I know, some of my friends would argue about my mental capabilities, but hey...
Anyway, enough of my stuff. End of public service message. I just feel really, really strongly about this and hope that this is the year we can finally make a change.
Thanks for being so amazing, and see you soon!!
Oh, and yeah - by the way - our next episode of LA INK airs this Thursday again at 10pm Eastern/8pm Central. See you then...
xo! Hannah

Hi everybody --
As you guys probably know already, we're back in the shop and deep into taping the new season of LA INK! It's been a lot of fun with some amazing new clients -- but we are always looking for new faces and stories to feature on the show. If you're interested in getting tattooed on LA INK, it's a lot easier than you might think (and might be the quickest way to get tattooed by me, Kim, Kat or Corey!). Just submit your ideas to our casting producer, Isabel, at www.lainkcasting.com -- they are ALWAYS looking for great new clients to feature on the show. Seriously! It could be you!
And second, since so many of you have been asking, TLC has reissued a special package of LA INK, Season 1, which you can pick up at Target, Amazon.com, WalMart and a variety of other major retailers. It's a nice package with a special temporary tattoo by Kat (and some seriously ugly photos of me, but that's another story :^) and retails for around 20 bucks so it's not going to break the bank. Relive the hilarity! I for one ran out and grabbed mine right away - the second set comes out sometime in October too.
Enough shameless shilling for my job... ;^)
I recently spent a fun three months in Chicago, visiting family and friends and trying to catch up with local clients back home, cuddling with my kitties and enjoying the full range of Chicago weather. Now that I'm back in LA, the show's keeping me busy most of the time but we do make time for fun every now and then.
We all recently headed inland this past Saturday for CrueFest, and had a blast as 26 of us from the shop piled into a stretch Escalade and headed out to see Nikki and the boys put on a memorable show. The band sounds as good as ever and if you get a chance to check out Motley Crue when they come to your town by all means do -- it's an amazing show by a band who rocks as hard as they ever did! I remember when I was a teenager I was completely consumed by punk rock like GBH, Discharge, Exploited, Dead Boys, etc... I wouldn't have been caught dead listening to anything else!! - but now that I'm older I feel nostalgic for a lot of the great bands, like Crue, that I didn't want to admit I liked when I was younger because they weren't hardcore punk. :^) Funny how that works...but anyway, look for our little road trip in an upcoming episode and watch how hard Kim and I party (that is a serious joke...when you see us in the limo, you'll crack up).
I'm glad to be back...more coming soon as the season progresses. In the meantime, if you're interested in getting on a waiting list for off-air tattoo work, PLEASE don't write through MySpace. I have a form you can fill out online on my site, www.hannahaitchison.com - I can't answer everyone or guarantee how soon you can get in with me, but please know that if you send in the form you will be placed on the list. And I would encourage you to try to get on the show if you're at all interested.
Thanks a bunch, you guys are wonderful!
Cheers, Hannah

Hello, everyone -
If all goes as scheduled by TLC, this week’s episode will feature (among other things) a visit from my amazing and talented brother Guy, examples of some of his spectacular tattoo work (some alone, some as a collaboration with me) and hopefully even a drop-in visit with the visionary artists Alex & Allyson Grey. Alex is a very well regarded artist probably best known for his amazing work with the band TOOL.
Since we taped for 2 days straight and I can never be sure what will or will not be included in any given episode, I can only keep my fingers crossed and hope that you guys will get a nice, juicy episode showcasing an almost overwhelming buffet of artistic challenge and creativity.
As a supplementary bit, I wanted to include a link for you all to Guy & Michele’s latest video which documented the interactive painting jam that they participated in with Alex & Allyson, along with our own Corey Miller, our friend Shawn Barber whose work you saw earlier this season, and popular LA artist Chet Zar (Kim and I were there but there was no room for us to set up and participate too - it was just so crowded! A testimony to the success of the event).
This evening was amazing!!! The painting was incredible, the energy was off the charts and the whole thing really was a great experience. Many of you may be familiar with Guy’s impressive tattoo career, but this little 9 minute video really provides a great intro to my brother’s painting work as well, kind of a secret window into his artistic process. You can also watch Michele, Alex & Allyson’s process and the breathtaking work they produce in just a few short hours. Just thought you would enjoy it... I know I did! Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IS3W1YPz7k
As a quick aside, I’d like to mention that Guy has a mailing list on his site (www.hyperspacestudios.com) that I would encourage you to join -- not only will you receive the most current info on his apperances, workshops, and new merchandise releases, but it’s his intention in the near future to do a special mailing-list only raffle for a FREE TATTOO just to encourage people to become part of the Hyperspace community. Since Guy has a longer waiting list than all the rest of us at LA Ink combined, this is a damn fine offer! The Hyperspace community is a great networking resource for art and tattoo fans, and they also provide a special inside members-only network for tattoo artists that allows them to share tips and information as well -- it’s a tool that no tattooer should be without. Yay!
Well, ’nuff about my brother...he’s fantastic, and a credit to the industry that I hold in such high regard. Bottom line. And I’m so excited about this week’s episode!!!
Let me know what you think.
Huzzah, Hannah xox
