.. .. .. .. .. .. ....

Be on the lookout for my new No T Encuentro Video.  It’s in the editing process. What an odyssey it has been.  Too many actors, Difficult to work with.  “Where’s my trailer?”  “Where’s my water?”  “Can I have my bananas now?” “Don’t hate me because I’m green.” ....

Not to mention the expenses of this immense production.  It’s coming soon. :)....

Good day Lollipops,

Behold the brimming bowl of sweet news.  “Ingrata” is being played in the wonderful town of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.  The station is called Cabo Mil 96.3 fm.  Special thanks to Edgar Chavarria out there.

Ang guess what?
YOU can request "Ingrata" on the radio! Yeah, I mean the mainstream radio... I'm serious, just try it. It's already in the programming, just waiting to be requested. I could use your help getting played. :p

This is how to do it:
1.    Call the stations (there’s a list on my Myspace)
2.    Or email the form that's on my MySpace.
-Pick your Radio Station
-Write the message requesting “Ingrata” by Alih Jey
-And it will send your message straight to the Program Director of the station.

Preferably EMAIL your request using the form.  We don't know WHO really listens to those messages in their voicemails.

With this you can GIVE MY MUSIC A CHANCE TO BE PLAYED.   If you and your friends succeed in getting “Ingrata” in the Top 10 of the City were you live, you will win “A Nite on the town with Alih” were I will take you out for dinner and drinks. Wee!  Or non-alcoholic beverages if you are a minor.  :p

In other happenings, I will be playing two gigs in The Big Caramel Apple (New York, we meet again).  On April 26th I will play in the rock conference section of the Colombian ExpoShow, an event that represents Latinos in the aspects of Fashion, Health and Beauty.    And on April 27th I’m playing at Mamajuana Café (247 Dyckman St.-between Seaman and Payson) at 8 pm.  Need all of you guys to come out to this one!  If you come, you could win a toostie roll lollipop and a kiss on the cheek from moi.  And you could, enjoy live music I guess. ;)

Love always!  Thanks for the support!

DR was a blast and fabulous dahling.  What can I say?  It’s definitely a party country were the alcohol flows freely; friends always show up, all genres of music blast loudly and were rockers actually dance merengue.  Or at least, I was told I didn’t dance badly for a “rocker” at the Casandra Awards after party.  Har har.

Anyway, I know I owe an early explanation for the title of this newsletter.  It’s the name of a tasty drink with Bailey’s and some other stuff.  Don’t get any strange ideas now.

Ok, so I arrived in DR and was treated wonderfully the entire time by the Casandra organizers.   I want to thank them for their wonderful hospitality.  Also, Acroarte and La Cerveceria made all of it possible.  Thank you to them!

I did some promotion the days that I was there including TV shows like “Iamdra Full,” “Sabado de Corporan” and “American Magazine.”  I also introduced my new single in DR “Al fin me Despierto” during interviews with the radio stations LaX102 and Millenium.

I collaborated with producer Manuel Tejada on the music for the closing of the Casandra, awards (which was fun!) and then mostly was rehearsing for the show that week leading up to the awards.

For the actual awards I got to wear two designer dresses, tee hee. For the ceremony I wore a dress by Moises Quezada and accessories by Swarovski, and to perform I wore Carlos de Moya (not him the dress!).  This one was extremely silver, so I warn you before looking at the picture, it might ‘cause blindness.

The awards were quite fun!  Karina Pasian, who opened up, has a beautiful voice and girl knows how to move!  One of my favorite performances was the ode to the 80’s merengues.  The wardrobe was awesome and the 80’s merengues the best, with the Mayimbe doing his unique pasitos. Yay!

My video director/best friend Scarlett was my date for the evening (Vitto missed all the fun, immersed in projects in Miami).  We went backstage when it was time for me to get ready.  I did and we did the closing!  I shared the stage with artists Cristal Marie, Auro and Marel.  They were super cool and nice and I was happy to perform with them. There was also the beautiful and talented violin player Militza and after that Frank Reyes, Sergio Vargas and Hector Acosta came out.  It was an honor to share the stage with these wonderful artists.

After that there was the after party.  I didn’t drink.  I was quite done by then.  Tee hee.  That’s when I was labeled “the merengue dancing rocker chick.”  Right. :p

Our friends Heidi and Diana joined us there and we just topped it off by doing the “running man” with the singer from Cerobit.  Miss you guys in DR. Love Alih

Friends, live people, and anyone currently reading this for any reason… I'm tired of the way things are in the music industry. Being signed to a label many times means no creative freedom. Being independent means no radio airplay, no financial backing. Music should represent something kind of pure, untainted by the need to sell.

So I want YOU to GIVE MY MUSIC AWAY. Thing is there's no posters of me or advertisements assaulting you on every street corner, and my song isn't looping on the radio all day because some label "convinced" the PD to play it.

If you heard my music from a friend, great. This means you listen to music for it's quality or substance instead of how convenient it is. This is why I ask for your help. Think of some friends with similar taste to yours who haven't heard my songs. Then let me know how many sampler CD's I should send you to give to them.

What I need:Name, Mailing Address, Email Address, How many CDs you want. Send the requests to alih@verexinc.com

Thank you for supporting me and for your help. It makes a difference.

Te quiero - Alih

==================================

Amigos, seres humanos y extraterrestres…
