CAMILLA Remembrance Sunday in the wake of Rock-a-Nore
Oh Camilla what have you done? but smashed it all upon rocks left us living to foam and gurgle on the shore in the wake of Rock-a-Nore
a vulnerable thing fragility obdurate despair it's last straw these brave masks we wear and wore a thing disguised but whatever for? in the wake of Rock-a-Nore?
the lunar eclipse flipped us that night before the poppy stained Sunday remembrance of World War in trenches of disbelief this day they found your dead body washed up on the beach salt. wet. sandstone. grave gulls screaming above the shore in the wake of Rock-a-Nore
Now, I remember best your generous chest bright light eyes and lovely self Jack green face in May you were sunflower yellow from the sky to the floor all God's peace you have in store in the wake of Rock-a-Nore
Oh Camilla what have you done? but smashed it all upon the rocks left us living to fight all this war lost a battle of Hastings on the shore in the wake of Rock-a-Nore
© 2003. Salena Godden.
(Hastings / November 11th 2003 - Remembering Camilla…This is the poem written after the phone call informing us they had found Camilla washed up on the beach of Rock-a-Nore; the name of a cove of rocks, by the fishing boats in the old town of Hastings…fuck fuck fuck….fuck war…make love…)

BIGThanks to all of you that made it to the SALTPETER HALLOWEEN BASH. It was a huge success and we totally packed out The Dartmouth Arms back room...Everyone really made an effort and was so dressed up...we had lots of vampires, evil fairies and the undead...For those of you that were not there to the end it went a bit like this...
Firstly i send love to JOSHUA IDEHEN for coming early and planning to marry me at midnight...most kind....this was followed by TIM WELLS kicking things off nicely like the pro he is, we love him and i noticed everyone clinging to their copies of RISING. Everyone fell in love with young star and the next Bob Dylan ARTHUR DELANEY playing his beautiful songs in his devil horns. Also KARIS of DELIRIUM TREMENS was so pretty in her white wings and gave us a glittering set...Poets DZIFA BENSON, BEN GRAHAM and ANGRY SAM were firing as ever...lovely reading from the sparky newcomer ANNA HOPE too...
MARCUS DOWNE dressed as a ship wrecked man and wore his costume with aplomb when he fell asleep on the beach-like sofa with a lobster knotted in his hair, falling over his face...The live music kicked ass from the brilliant GRAHAM WYLIE and then later a blistering set from the awesome CRAIG BRAUNS...Also a lipstick smeared SORAYA ALLEN rocked up and played us a few and fell over at the end of every song and showed us her pants...Wicked poem by local lass Ramona too!
Apple bobbing was a laugh! To the roar of the crowd calling out BOB BOB BOB.....! SALTPETER played a few and it was fun to rip off my leopard mask and bob an apple mid-song and drench everyone. 'Coconut Banana' is such a daft song i cannot believe you all got up and danced, well done!
Star turn of the night of course was JOHN HEGLEY, what a lovely lovely man and we all enjoyed joining in with his 'blamange' piece... bla...mange....bla...mange...is that even how you spell it? VENTRILOQUIST had us giggling with their vegetarian zombie love song and we completed the night with a fabulous set from OLIVA SPLEEN & ANGELCRACK...Hoorah!
Afterwards it was...Everybody back to mine...including the lovely Martin from SELFISH CUNT and many of the aforementioned poets and playmates. This rolled into a champagne Saturday, a dozen of us in my bed, drinking and laughing, facepaint smeared everything, wigs, and costumes littered the floor...there was a damp zombie...there was an evil pixie....a load of vodka...and the rest...as the say is another story....
THANKYOU TO ALL OF YOU...BIG THANKS TO THE DARTMOUTH MASSIVE, TO KEVIN FOR HIS TUNES AND TO ALL OF YOU FOR MAKING IT SUCH A WICKED NIGHT...Next party? Maybe a Christmas gathering...watch this space....sx
LOOK AT THE STATE OF US....CHECK THESE OUT!!!! here's the link for the AMAZING photos of you all taken by JONATHAN FRANTZ: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonathankrantz/sets/72157608573708550/show/

GO TELL IT TO THE MOUNTAIN... LIVERPOOL TO THE PYRENEES...
I had a great train journey to Liverpool on Friday afternoon. I was in a carriage with over a dozen boys - all of them with crates of beer, cans of cider and bottles of brandy and hard liquor, possibly on a stag-do. They started playing tunes…Can You Feel It…from the I-Pod and yelling things across the train about each others mothers and sisters to great hilarity and mirth. I unpacked my books to read and write, a bottle of water and a cheese sandwich then I caught myself eyeing their wares. I considered making friends with them and reckoned I could drink them all under the table...

Current mood: busy
Hello there, i dip my toe into our ocean of salty friends and send a warm briny welcoming lick to our new friends too!
This month we are fat on sweet octoberries...the colour of the moment is a dark blood orange, the pumpkins are ripening and the butternut is squashed.
This month i am excited because i finally got something published in the latest issue, that's the NOIR issue of TRESPASS www.trespassmagazine.co.uk
Brighton's poetry gig on Sunday was excellent fun, made some lovely new friends. It was great fun to discover that angelcrack is sweeter than angel delight but quite delicious. So lovely to run into our dear friend Oliva Spleen (see this months GAY TIMES) and to check out the new album SPLEEN & THE FLESH MACHINE...the launch is tomorrow, Wednesday 8th at The Good Ship in Kilburn. http://www.timeout.com/london/music/events819497spleen_and_the_flesh_machine_carthage_the_mekano_set_hrt.html
This month also saw the opening night of the musical SPYSKI. With music composed by our very gorgenius PETER COYTE! http://www.lyric.co.uk/fromhomepage/pl354.html
As i write this the chipped china sky is fluttering with yellow leaves. There is a tax return to complete (urghhhhhh...) but new songs and writings are an excited puppy dog begging to go for a walk...with a doggy lipstick willy...humping my leg...and now more than ever there really is no time to waste, no waste to time...but we are loving you more everyday... live.life.alive.long.light.sx
SALTPETER are featured in the latest issue of the uber cool 'WOUND' Magazine, look out for it baby...it comes with a CD on the cover!
