The Mary Onettes participates in the Swedish charity event Musikhjälpen organized by Swedish Television and national radio ( P3/SVT2). It's a collection in order to fight Malaria, that nearly kills 3 000 kids per minute.

We're happy to give you the information that we will release "Islands" in both UK and France on 25th of January. This time with a proper distribution thru EMI.

We will also play a few shows in France and UK around March. We will put the dates up on our Myspace later.

We are happy to announce that our second album finally is ready to be released!
The album is called ISLANDS, and is due to be released in November, worldwide.
We're also happy to tell you that we are now signed to leading Japanese record company Avex Group in Japan and to EMI in the US, which means that the new album will get a much wider distribution than the first album. 

Releases dates are:

Europe: November 4

USA: November 3

Japan: Oktober 28

We will also release a new single from the album September 30.

Tour dates and new songs will also be released here on myspace in a short while

Hi everybody!

So now it's time to release some new The Mary Onettes material. A long  
time has gone by since the latest release. A lot of work has been done,  
but a lot of work was actually just a waste of time.

Last summer I basically lost every song I've ever recorded with The  
Mary Onettes. My hard-drive with all my music was stolen in my car one  
fine afternoon in Stockholm, the very same fine afternoon we came  
home from our US tour, the very same day I was feeling thrilled to  
come home and start the process of finishing our new album.

Of course I had made a backup copy on my computer at home. But for  
some reason a power failure in the building made that hard drive  
collapse to. Unbelievable.

I was speechless for days.

The only thing I felt was right at that moment was to take a break.



A few days after the burglary we went to Spain to do the Primavera  
Festival and that was quite uplifting I have to say. Some kind of new hope  
was established.



The summer went by, the longest summer I've ever had I think. A lot of  
unhappiness and unfortunate things came along, but despite the  
adversity we were able to start the recording process in late September  
again.  To be honest it felt like a never-ending process. Still does.

My lack of will to do it all over again was really obvious in the  
beginning of the recordings. But slowly I felt more and more  
comfortable with it.

As I am the one spending most of the time in the studio we usually  
only do some brief sessions with the whole group But this time Henrik  
became more involved in the recordings and that was a big relief.


I went to my hometown a lot. As a matter of fact i keep coming back to  
that stupid city all the time. Most of all because our families live there but also  
because I always find the right inspiration there.
 
And that brings us to the new three track EP we're now releasing.

The name of the Ep is "Dare" from the title track.
 "Dare" was written and partly recorded in a little studio in my 
hometown (Jönköping) that belongs to a good friend of mine.  We used 
real strings for the song which we recorded in a small church nearby 
our hometown.

The other two tracks "kicks" and "God Knows I Had Plans" are pretty 
much leftovers we've never recorded before. I think it's nice we could 
use them on this EP.

We're glad to be a little closer to the album release. Hope you like 
what so far is a little taste of that album.

"Dare" and "God knows i had plans" are now on our myspace, hope you like it (we do).
