I've a BIG smile ony face! My new album is on iTunes!
Following on from her critically acclaimed debut, Mind How You Go, Skye, former Morcheeba singer often dubbed as the 'Queen of Trip-Hop' with the voice that is 'honey coated' releases her eagerly anticipated 2nd solo album, Keeping Secrets. 'Mind how you go came out in 2006' says Skye. 'I toured Europe doing my own shows and some headline festival slots, I also did shows in America and Canada. At the start of 2007, in between the live shows, I started writing new songs. It wasn't like I sat down and said this is for my 2nd solo record so it was pretty relaxed, no pressure.'
Along with writing partner Steve Gordon, Skye started writing with guitarist John Robertson from her live band. 'We would meet up every now and then and just write for the fun of it.' Skye also collaborated with song writer Lauren Christy and re-connected with the now LA based Gary Clark, with whom she wrote Love Show, her most well known track from Mind How You Go. It was featured on the award winning TV series Greys Anatomy and after being placed in a pivotal scene, reached number one on iTunes. Love Show saw high rotation in many of the European territories. 'I'm told it was the eighth most played song in Italy' excites Skye 'along with Madonna's Sorry and Crazy by Gnarls Barclay.'
Despite the success of Mind How You Go, both of the record labels that Skye was signed to, folded. 'I didn't have much luck with record companies' remembers Skye. 'I had a successful album and I did a cover of Gorillaz Feel Good Inc. which started to get lots of air play, especially in the UK. Then disaster struck and Karova (a subsidiary of Warner) no longer existed.' A few months later, the same thing happened to the US label, Cordless. 'I couldn't believe it!' says Skye. 'It was really disappointing.' You might expect to talk to a bitter woman, but you get the complete opposite. 'There's always an upside. I was able to get my album back from Warner, so now I own it.'
When it came to recording Keeping Secrets, Skye enlisted the help of two talented producers. Alexis Smith who, before going it alone, worked with producer Marius De Vries, programming on records for the likes of Rufus Wainwright and Bebel Gilberto. And Ivor Guest, producer of the latest Grace Jones album, 'Hurricane' and music composer of the Oscar winning documentary, Taxi To The Dark Side. 'I initially started recording with the intention of getting a record deal half-way through, but then thought "If we've recorded five songs, why not record the rest" So, continued to drive it forward without a label coming in and taking over.' Says Skye. 'I made all of the decisions, with the support from Steve and my manager. It's been a real eye opener! And I've been amazed at how much can be achieved without a record company.'
From the edgy pop of 'Almost Killed Me', to the tenebrific paranoia of 'Monsters Demons', these new recordings will be a special treat for fans. Here is an album that is moving, evocative and prepossessing. And where Skye's first album took on a more autobiographical tone, Keeping Secrets echoes her seductive personality with the stories that she tells. 'I can't help but be inspired by my surroundings and write from my own experiences' says Skye 'But this time I wanted some of the songs to be less about me.' We hear that on tracks like the spine-tingling 'Wrong Alright ' with it's swampy, noir undertones or the sensuous, 'Boo Hoo', which is bereft one moment and somehow uplifting the next.
Keeping Secrets is at once achingly gorgeous, and offers pockets of darkness with prodigious song-writing and lucullan arrangements that help frame Skye’s heavenly vocals.
Skye has been touring in advance of her album release, playing new songs including the lead track 'I Believe', another collaboration with U2 producer, Daniel Lanois. Her live performances are always captivating and surprisingly intimate, even in front of large crowds. 'I feel that I can really connect with the listener because they are right there in front of me.' Says Skye. 'I love to sing to them, look them straight in the eye.' Her subtle, East End pronunciation is part of her distinctive singing syntax but Skye is proving to be more than just a beautiful voice. She is a songwriter who is able to work her words and melodic gifts into an array of musical moods.

I've added a new song to my music player for your listening pleasureIt's called Monsters Demons from my Keeping Secrets album.
Monsters Demons
The things that I imagine When time gives me a moment to breath Could never really happen
At least not in this life time And this is what I wanna believe Might never ever happen
But my eyes can be deceiving They show me what I don't want to see The things I think will happen
Monsters, demons We dream them up and we bring them to life They are not real, I know it
Monsters demons We give them wings and we teach them to fly They're taking, taking over my mind
And now the light is fading The shadows seem to dance on my wall And I think it really happens
Bad dreams that keep repeating I'm trying to make sense of it all Where nothing ever happens
Keeping Secrets is due out the end of this month on itunes.

Is Myspace Dead? YES or No?
I put this as my status and got quite a few comments. Most of them are leaning towards YES.
JP wrote: JP Posted 6 hours agoAs a social networking website, yes. As a music networking site, its still one of the first sites I check for new music and new groups.
I have to say, I think Facebook wins when it comes to social networking, keeping in touch with the family & friends. I actually have two Facebook accounts, one is strictly family. I love reading wee post from my cousins and nieces etc.

Sadly it seems to be going through a period of ghost town which may or may not change...however, Facebook can't touch it for music/media and Twitter is useless to me. As for social networking, it seems to be pretty quiet here.
I'm in two minds about Twitter. I do have a Twitter page: http://twitter.com/skye_edwards but I'm not on it everyday! Sometimes I think you can put too much information out there. Still, I guess it can be useful to let folks know what your up to every now and then...
I have made quite a few connections with fans on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/skyewards But I think Myspace is still the coolest place for hearing new music. For me, this is my website. I control it. I find it really easy to add new tunes and post pictures. I enjoy writing the odd blog every once in a while. And I've made some great music connections on here too. Long Live Myspace!!!
Jerome wrote:
nope, just too many people prefer this shitty facebook or twitter, because everybody has to have one...until a new thing will be created and everybody will move to another site...but real music fans are still on myspace

I'm going to a funeral toady.
I've added in new song. It's called Wrong Alright
You want it, got a need taking over can't breath.
Every night ghost in your soul. You're needy, knee deep alone.
As you take your aim, you know it's wrong but it makes it alright.
As you drown, love goes down the light in your eye won't stay.
The you now is not you. No life in you day. All numb.
When can we breath again?
When you've had enough?
When will we see the end? Have you had enough?
How can we be the same?
'Cause you can get enough of the love but enough's enough!
Undone, struck dumb. You'll never know there's a better way.
So roll those drums. Know you're over, now it's over.
When you took your aim, you knew it was wrong but it made you feel alright. But we lost again. So wrong, make it right.
This one is for all the families who have been affected by drug addiction.

How d'ya like my new profile pic? Classy wouldn't you say! I'll be adding a new song or two later today.
So, I've been asked to be part of the "Busking For Cancer" Campaign, which reminded me of the first time I got out there and did a spot of busking. It was a looooong time a go, oooh maybe 1992-93. Covent Garden, right opposite the tube exit. I went with Donna and Paul, they were (still are) singer and bass player of the funk band Flytrap. I used to sing backing vocals for them. www.myspace.com/ukflytrap
Paul played the guitar, Donna sang and I bashed my little Jambe that I bought from Camden Market. I did have ago at singing, at the time I could only play one song on guitar, What's Going On by Four Non Blondes. It was a right laugh as I recall.
Anyhow, av a read of the info below... You can strum guitar or blow a flute or bash a bucket with a stick! Just get out there to raise a bit of cash for charity and have fun at the same time!
Busking Cancer Week will kick off in true style on June 20th with a launch party on the upper deck of the HMS Belfast light cruiser battleship, which is located on the South Bank of the River Thames in London.
HMS BELFAST
Morgan's Lane
Tooley Street
London SE1 2JH
Busking Cancer has taken the UK busk scene by storm as buskers all over the country prepare to take to the streets and raise money for Cancer Research UK. Rod Stewart joins last year’s patron Suggs in supporting this year’s charity event. Musicians, performers and street acts from all over the UK will take their act on the road, out on the street, to fundraise for the charity. ‘Busking is how I started, in the early 60’s, on the streets of Paris…so the idea of Busking Cancer has my support,’ writes Stewart.
Acts confirmed so far include:
Me (hurray!) I'll be playing a 20 min acoustic set.
Zarif (fresh off tour with Beyonce and described by The Guardian as "the next big thing in British Soul") www.myspace.com/zarifmusic
The Charlie Rivers Band - an upcoming singer song writer, with support from his band. www.myspace.com/charlieriversmusic
Plus special guests!
With a 400 capacity, this is your chance to get up close and personal with some great music, in a fantastic venue! Come aboard and help kick off Busking Cancer Week. All proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK (registered charity No. 1089464).

Hello You!
Mmmmm the sun was shining today, infact it still shines. I can see it glistening between the trees in my garden. I'm on my laptop just sippin a wee dram, Glenfiddich, no ice. Talking o booze, my ma-in-law introduced me to a Rusty Nail not so long ago. One part Whisky to two parts Drambuie, or was it two parts Whisky to one of Drambuie...? Ooh I can't remember, I was vey drunk at the time. Anyhow it's pretty nice. Too nice actually. The sweet Drambuey makes it all too easy to drink!
Sooo, I was recently sent a copy of the sound track for the movie Secret of Moonacre, (ta very much Alexis) I'm on it! I sing a song called Stars. I took my daughter and her friends to see it. A beautiful movie, perfect for my girl who is aged 11. She and her mates enjoyed the movie but the best part was at the end when the credits roll. "That's my mum! That's my mum singing!" I have to say it felt really good, bless her.
Anyhow, here's a few pics from the last gig I did in Switzerland at the Caprice Festival. (Taken by Vincent Hofer). It's a feather stole, not fur by the way. Someone did have a go at me cos they thought it was fur! And tell me, how much do ya love the shoes?!! This time my kids came with me as it was Easter break. They learnt how to snowboard. No broken bones! They also came and sang with me on stage for the last song. If anyone has any pics or footage of that I'd love to see it. My Mini Me's!

Till then... Skye**

Funny what ya find on Google Hello you!
Thought you might like to know, I just added some dates of gigs coming up...
March 20th Theatre Studio ~ Singapore ( two shows, same day) 7:30pm & 10pm
March 21st Sunburst Festival ~ Kuala Lumpur
April 16th Caprices Festival ~ Switzerland
August 15th NuNote Festival ~ Moscow
I was looking to see if I could find the actual address of the gig in Kuala Lumpur so I put "SKYE EDWARDS KUALA LUMPUR" into google. It's so funny what ya find!
I found "The Top Ten Sexiest Rooftop Bars" What's even more funny is the one in São Paulo is actually named after me! How cool is that?!! Well we (Morcheeba) did write a song called São Paulo. Backatcha!
The Top Ten Sexiest Rooftop Bars (according to a Jennifer Murphy at Forbes Traveler)
1. Vertigo at Banyan Tree Bangkok Thailand This lounge offers panoramic views of sparkling landmarks including the Grand Palace and the Chao Phraya River, giving you an entirely different perspective on this exotic city. Vertigo is open daily from 5PM to 1AM (weather permitting), and also includes a dining section and private party lounge.
2. The Roof Gardens at Kensington High Street London The Roof Gardens is a lush sanctuary teeming with exotic wildlife and themed gardens hoisted 100 feet above Kensington High Street. On the largest roof garden in Europe (1.5 acres), you can enjoy a flute of champagne in the Spanish Garden and gaze at the city's skyline for an otherworldly experience right in the heart of London, or unwind in the expansive English Garden that flaunts a pond with ducks and flamingos. Call ahead.
3. Spire Bar & Lounge Miami The original Tiffany Spire and the stellar Miami sunset are two of the major attributes of this refreshing Miami lounge designed by Todd Oldham. Roomy white sofas, brightly painted floorboards and the changing colors of the spire make nights here so enchanting you may never want to leave. Spire Bar's impressive drinks menu includes exotic concoctions like the Pink Champagne Martini and the Purple Manhattan ($15 each). The bar is open to the public from Thursday to Saturday, 6PM to 2AM.
4. La Terrazza Rosé, St. George Hotel Rome Pale wooden decking, soft and roomy communal couches, flickering tea candles and cream tarps stretched overhead combine to make la Terrazza Rosé, the decadent open-air terrace at the St. George Hotel, one of Rome's most majestic gathering places. Located in the historical heart of Rome, the stunning terrace affords views of ancient domes and rooftops. La Terrazza Rosé opens on July 21 for the summer season from 7PM to midnight, Tuesday to Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday).
5. Sky Bar, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur Nested on the 33rd level of the lavish Traders Hotel, the Sky Bar is an open-air den of Kuala Lumpur glamour. The opulent bar has a pool in the center and glass-paneled walls that reveal magnificent views. Relax with a crowd of businessmen and leisure travelers enjoying cosmopolitans and gaping at the lofty Petronas Twin Towers. Sky Bar is open from 5PM to 1AM, Sunday to Thursday (until 3AM on weekends and before public holidays).
6. A60 at 60 Thompson Hotel New York City It's hard to beat the views of downtown Manhattan from this exclusive open-air bar at 60 Thompson, a modern 100-room boutique hotel situated between Spring and Broome streets in Soho. Known among New Yorkers and well-informed travelers for its sexy atmosphere with a Moroccan flare, the rooftop is one of New York City's elite summer gems. The service is flawless and the crowd is full of elegant regulars who can't get enough of the stunning views. Open to hotel guests and members only.
7. La Terraza, Condesa DF Mexico City The rooftop garden bar on the terrace of the 40-room Condesa DF Hotel, known for its bohemian chic, offers a lush escape from Mexico's frantic capital. Situated in one of Mexico City's most popular barrios, jetsetters and partygoers inundate the triangle-shaped terrace on weekends to enjoy the great cocktails with views of treetops and blossoming jacarandas. Whimsical and fresh, this outdoor bar captures the spirit of Mexico City.
8. Skye Restaurant & Bar São Paulo Located on the penthouse level of Hotel Unique, Skye Restaurant & Bar has a fresh style with views of Ibirapuera Park and the skyline of Avenida Paulista. Designed by architect João Armentano, the eclectic bar is named after the band Morcheeba's lead singer, Skye Edwards. The bar is open to the public and features guest DJs and performances on special occasions.
9. The Standard Hotel Rooftop Bar Los Angeles It doesn't get more electrifying than the poolside bar on the roof of André Balazs' ultra-hip Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. From this vantage point, LA's skyscrapers never looked so pretty. And it's hard not to fall in love with the fresh red and white décor, the futuristic waterbed lounges lining the pool, and the movies projected against the wall of an adjacent building. This is the place to sip a martini and talk shop with entertainment industry aficionados.
10. Dome, Rooftop of the Intercontinental Mumbai Panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the luminous string of lights forming the Marine Drive promenade make the Dome Terrace Sky Bar at the Intercontinental one of Mumbai's most romantic terraces. Roomy couches, soft red lights streaming through the lounge and billowing curtains create a stirring fusion of East and West in this moonlit open-air bar. Dome offers a noteworthy selection of premium wines, cocktails and cigars. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, live musicians play along with the electronic music wafting through the lounge.
Have you got a favourite sexy bar? I went to the Sky Bar in LA on Sunset Boulevard. Dunno if I'd say it was sexy. It was very "trendy" lots of white leather furniture, waitresses in bra tops a sarongs. I think some of the sexiest bars I've been too were very small and very dark. I can't remember the name cos I was vey vey drunk!
Anyhow, I tried to up load the track Sao Paulo but myspace has changed and it has to go through Warner Music who own the copy rights to the song. It's bloody frustrating that I cant add a song that I wrote with the Godfrey Bro's. BOOOOOO!
I will sort it out! In the mean time, here's the lyrics
Waiting in the club lounge I slot in so systematicly I wanna smash it to pieces Release this hatred inside of me
You know you fill me with passion But I just act apologetically I'm gonna miss you in fashion All ashen faced with my deceit
Sao Paulo Why am I bringing me down? Sao Paulo If I drink any more I will drown Sao Paulo Why can't I fight truth decay? Sao Paulo My life is just one big cliche
Another stain on my passport I wanna travel so futuristically I just wish I could beam up, team up And soon be on my way
You told me we'd go to Rio And you said it so charismatically I know it's me that's the nightmare So fight fair or have some decency
Sao Paulo Why am I bringing me down? Sao Paulo If I drink any more I will drown Sao Paulo Why can't I fight truth decay? Sao Paulo My life is just one big cliche
Sao Paulo Why am I bringing me down Sao Paulo If I drink any more I will drown Sao Paulo Why can't I fight truth decay? Sao Paulo My life is just one big cliche
You sure put a spin on my day Why am I heading your way Everything is coming up grey I'm just a humble DJ
Soon come!

Hello you Is it too late to say Happy New Year? What does 2009 have in store for us all, I wonder? As I ask the question I think to myself is life all planed for us? Is there just one path or many different ones. I always say to my daughter there are two paths, the good path or the naughty path. You know which path you should choose! Haha. Such a mum thing to say! Anyhow, my path for 2009 will lead to the release of my new record and lots of gigs! I have a few lined up, the first being in Singapore, 20th of March. I've never been there before, really looking forward to it. I have another show in Russia. I'll add that date to my page asap. I did my first show of 2009 in Paris just last week with Hollywood Mon Amour. Someone posted a bit of footage on youtube... D'ya like my dress? It's vintage. I'm heading back to gay Pareee next week to do the shoot for the album sleeve. Now, if you could work with any photographer in the world, who would you choose? Well, I'd choose the guy who took these pictures. His name is Thierry Le Goues. So, I got in touch with him and the man from Del Monte he say Yes! Well Thierry's not from Del Monte he's from Brest in France. Did you make any New Years resolutions? One month into the new year, are ya still sticking to it? My NYR was to go to museums and galleries. There are so many good ones in London! I read that there's around 300. Can you believe that? I made a start and went to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Hadn't been there since my collage days. (I used to go to the London Collage Of Fashion a looong time ago). The V&A has an impressive fashion section with clothes going back to the 1700's right up till the present day. Next stop, Saatchi Gallery, The Science Museum, Natural History Museum, The Tate Modern.... I'd really love to go to Madame Tussauds, with all the wax work models. Yeah, I know it's not a museum but I think it's a fun place to go and haven't been there since I was a kid. I remember there was a wax work model of an old lady who had fallen asleep on a chair with her shopping at her feet. Me n my sister thought it would be fun to shock people who didn't realise it was a wax work, by slapping her round her face! It still makes me laugh when I think bout it. Hehe! Soooo, when can we hear some new songs I hear you cry??! Soon my little pretty, Soon. Till then... Skye** P.S Who remembers the Del Monte Juice ad? Well this time, the man from Delmonte he say No!
