Last November, after our first Canadian tour, we released Matterhorn independently in Vancouver with a perfect party at the Anza club. Between then and now, many things have happened including our introduction to Unfamiliar Records. Greg, who runs the label, discovered our band through his beloved Paper Cranes, as they played with us that night at the Anza. After a million and a half emails, here we are, not 4 days from our official Canada-wide release with Unfamiliar.
If you are discovering us for the first time, we hope you enjoy the album. It took us nearly 2 years to produce, so we were extremely relieved, and somewhat in disbelief when it was finally finished. The songs were reworked many times, and everything was recorded in a little shed on Clark and 11th, behind Cohen's house... if his name doesn't appear on this myspace, it's because he's since left the band to become a scholar at York in T.O.
There is so much more to the story of this band, but the message I want to convey is that July 22nd is a major milestone, and we're incredibly happy to be working with Unfamiliar who have been nothing but incredibly caring and patient with us. This band is an important aspect of our lives... not because we think it will make us famous, or even make us enough money to get us out of debt, but because its an honest creative outlet that allows us to take a break from the routines of working in a messy, loud, crazy city. If you want to check out Vancouver, we'd be happy to show you around. If you wanna chat with us, or ask us any questions, drop an email to contact@theclips.ca and we will respond.
If you are a record store or buyer, please contact Sonic Unyon for physical distribution. If you want to buy mp3's, you can do so through our website: www.theclips.ca or go through the majors: itunes, zunior, etc.
Thanks to everyone who has supported this release... and everyone who is checking this out for the first time.
bestbestbest, -theclips

So after months and months of sweat, tears, toil, trouble, and general hilarity, we have finished our full-length debut album! Stay tuned for info on the official CD release party in Vancouver!
Also, The Clips have just returned from a semi-Canadian tour, having supported Bend Sinister from Vancouver to Winnipeg with many stops along the way. The tour was a riot - Edo will fill you in on the details when he gets back. He's still in the Bend Sinister van as they continue to Pop Montreal. Not only is Edo acting as Interviewer Extraordinaire for the tour documentary, he is also acting as stand-in keyboard-bassist for Bend Sinister! There will be many a tall and wonderful tale to read when he gets home.

So a little update on our first LP:
The vocals are nearly done. I spent the week hanging out at Cohen's place, where his brother in law has a backyard garage studio (will post some pictures soon). So far the songs finished are: Kassle, Wasted Space Kids, Missing The Plan, Eyesuck, Darko, and the back end of Wire. Tomorrow will be a day of Abalone, Enrique, and Wire.
Last week, we re-recorded some electronics in a massive warehouse space near 8rinks in Burnaby. Doug hooked up some 10,000 dollar room mics as we hit recycling bins, floor toms, and snares as if our lives depended on it.
In short, the album is sounding good... we'll be putting the finishing touches on things over the next two weeks, after which the songs will be mastered in some secret layer in California.
I shall announce some new pics... we're all very excited about the Richards show...

We're very excited to announce that we'll be supporting Bend Sinister on a Western Canada tour sponsored by CBC 3 in September. We'll be tagging along till Winnepeg and then doing shows on our own in Regina and Calgary on the leg back. We'll post dates and venues up soon... to get an idea, check out Bend Sinister's myspace page. Also, our LP is half way there, so expect an official CD release before we hit the road around Sept. 15th. Also also: Sweatshop = JULY 14th, and Richards = AUGUST 3rd!

So I've been working for a long time on launching a project/band with my trumpet blowing friend Brian Davies. We've finally decided to go public after a special person donated the name BRASSTRONAUT to our cause. You can check out one pretty rough version of an upcoming EP song by clicking on our friend-link below... the real demo will be out soon. If anyone is interested booking us as an opener for anything, please let us know, we're anxious to get playing round de town. Cheerio!-edo
