Hollis Frampton's NOSTALGIA + interview
This classic stucturalist film from 1973 by legendary experimental filmmaker Frampton explores the relationship between photographs, moving images, narrative, and memory. Accompanied by a fascinating 1978 interview from the Video Data Bank.

This program looks at some examples of contemporary performance work that goes beyond simple documentation to actively engage with the diverse capabilities of video as a medium. Featuring work by Guillermo Gomez-Pena, Doug Hall, Suzanne Lacy, Bjorn Melhaus, and others as well as SAIC students!

THE FILMS OF JOSEPH CORNELL
Utilizing the same collage techniques and stunning sense of imaginative fantasy as his well-known sculptures, Cornell also crafted dozens of equally beautiful films that transform found footage and low-budget street scenes into melancholy dream-like worlds. The program will feature the highly influential ROSE HOBART (1936), and many more.
