So, I would have called this "Tour Blog #1" but, I am realistically not sure how many I will post before the tour is over!
We are pretty busy out here on the road, and well, I am borrowing one of the member's of Epicurean's laptop to post this as it is, since I currently do not have a computer with me on the road.
Anyhow, here it is, a frakkin' tour blog. So far, the tour with Edguy and Epicurean has been absolutely terrific. We couldn't feel better about it, in fact.
It's been a REALLY long space between the album release and this first tour, so we were of course excited to get on the road and get out. For those of you who are less familiar with Edguy, overseas they are extremely successful and are the quintessential rockstars. They are a terrific band, and if you aren't familiar with the crowd size they draw overseas, just check out the video below:
Edguy LIVEWe didn't really know what to expect touring with such a professional band here in North America, where the clubs are a bit smaller, but it has really been terrific. Not only have they been incredibly nice to us, and very friendly, but they play all of these small US and Canadian clubs with every ounce of effort that would be put into an arena-sized show. Every night watching their set is like going to the most kick-ass rock concert ever. And that has been bad ass to watch them play each night. I have to say that Toby (singer) really has my admiration as a performer. He's just nuts on stage and sings perfectly every night. The entire band plays perfect every night, and well, it's just really cool to be out with such a professional band.
And back to the rest of us...our long-time friends in Epicurean are doing great as well! Brian and Cory are faithfully filling in each night, doing double-duty and kicking ass at it. It's kind of weird to watch your bandmates play with another group every day, but we're happy to loan the guys out to Epicurean. And now they owe us their souls. Just kidding, maybe a case of beer or two, though. HAHA. And they do the most hilarious impersonations of their former Minnesota governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura which keep us all entertained on the long drives.
We, Luna Mortis, are having a great time. Every night, we go over very well with the fans, which has been incredible (THANK YOU GUYS!) and every show I see some of you in the audience singing ALL the words and a bunch of you in Luna Mortis t-shirts. That's so great and I am finally so glad we got to come around to a lot of you who have been waiting a very long time to see us!
So far, the biggest issues this tour have been getting stopped at the border crossing (of COURSE a bunch of long-haired, smelly, tattooed metal kids are going to get harassed each time), and getting pulled over a few times by the Ontario Provincial Police. And really, that's not so bad. No one has gone to jail, which is great by me! OH yeah, and a couple of really nutty drunken evenings...one in which I was carried by Epicurean drummer, John Gensmer, out of the Fillmore in NYC. OOPS! Ahh, but what's a tour if you can't party a little right?
SOOOOO...long story short, everything has basically been going awesome. We have a few more cities to hit before we get finished with the tour. Portland, San Fransisco, San Marcos, Los Angeles, Mesa, Las Vegas. So, there's definitely a lot of you we are going to see before this is all over!
We're going to post photos and more as soon as we've got a little time.
Thanks for keeping tabs on us and we'll see you guys on the road!
