Come on out to Wonderland Ballroom at 10 on the 4th - there's no cover and we'll be dancing with country music all around [SERIOUSLY, ALL COUNTRY COVERS - ONE TIME ONLY - PROBABLY]

Also, we've posted "Pockets" from our album Anise & Anisette as one of our Myspace songs - for those looking heavenward for their music, you can request it at XMU here.

Also, some people have said some nice things about our album recently - thank you so much!

"'Anise & Anisette' displays the eclectic talents of Bellman Barker: the confidence in their songwriting, hook after wonderful hook, the soft, yet assured delivery of the vocals, and their ability to revel in their songs' sunny demeanors without coming across as saccharine sweet. For a debut EP, this is impressive stuff. It won't be long before this band's infectious '60s-style indie-pop starts making serious waves. The future is wide open for Bellman Barker." -On Tap Magazine

"Anybody who is familiar with my personal musical taste, knows how much of a feat it is for Bellman Barker to get a nod on my best of list. This EP is full of catchy, sun-drenched pop. The thing that makes these songs stand out, is the substance that exists behind them. Sugar usually washes away pretty quickly, but not in this case." -Instrumental Analysis

NOW you can buy the album direct from us and we will ship it to you - this is what is affectionately known as vertical integration: just visit us and look for the paypal button.

or you can download mp3s from the good folks at Amie Street:

After much ado, We're moving into a new practice space, and many new things are in the works - a good time, even if it does involve a lot of packing and unpacking.

AND...

Bellman Barker celebrates Music with our friends, the French!

Each June 21 since 1982, on an initiative by the French Ministry of Culture, amateur and profesionnal musicians all across France invade the streets and courtyards, squares and gardens, stations and museums, for the pleasure of playing music, listening and sharing. Not satisfied by simply bringing music out into the open, the Music Day (Fête de la Musique) has become a genuine social phenomenon.

This musical event has spread outside of France and now takes place in more than 100 countries. Come to the Alliance Française to participate in this French musical experience in DC.

We're playing Friday, June 22 at the Alliance in Washing DC!

Current mood:  busy
Hi folks!  We're beaming with pride and tearing up with joy from the excellent record release shows in DC and NYC!  Thanks for coming out and singing, dancing and winning large stuffed animals.  We are really happy.  [Hopefully we'll post some pictures soon from our shows.]

Now, back to the present.

Like Friday, at Crooked Beat we're playing for FREE with the famous Pelle Carlberg of Swedish twee-pop fame.  Check out his tunes here.  Check out his hipster cred here.  Check out the BYT info here.

Also check out what the Washington Post has to say about the show here.

Trust me, this is the best free thing you could be doing in DC at 7:00.  He's not playing any other shows while he's here and Crooked Beat (18th and Kalorama-ish) is pretty small - AND IT'S FREE - so come early and stay late.

Also, I just bought a Wurlitzer electric piano.

I'll be playing it instead of my bass.  I'm REALLY excited about that.
