Current mood:  argumentative
Don't forget to waddle down to the Shakespeare (just off West Bar / Sheffield) on Saturday June the 6th 2009. Three bands / three squid. The Doggies play their second gig with new bassist (old mate) Simon (no barfing!) Barfield, 16 Hooves will shake y spine till it turns to whine and Silent Front actually aren't very silent at all! Prepare to be filleted and possibly basted in a psilocybin sauce (with a conscience!).
Calling all do-gooders of Sheffield! After you've salved your conscience for this year by going down to 'Peace in the Park' (Ponderossa, ends at 8pm) stroll along to the Shakespeare where 'chilling out' will be banned, though we can provide ear plugs.

now finished mixing the last of 4 tracks for forthcoming e.p. by side-project, canine canute. tracks are "saucy jack" "plastic wings (remix)" "bombers" and "hard to die". i'm toying with the inclusion of another 1 or 2 tracks, "green fuse" &/or "hobo chang ba" (not a remix of the dog canute version, a remix of original multi-tracked demo version).  release date to be sorted, but feel free to contact for pre-release cd-r  of all 6 tracks at £2 inc p+p (uk only at present),

"What I can tell you about is last night, when we hosted Dog Canute, Red
Panda, Concentration Champ and Silent Front. Ok, Concentration Champ were
amazing! It was just a guitar and drums with occasional howly unmic-ed
vocals and they were both wearing stockings over their heads which was
actually kind of terrifying. The best bit was when someone watching shouted
'blast beats!' and the guitarist thought they said 'pasties!'. The other
bands were good too of course, Dog Canute are local heroes, with Dave on
bass who helps out at the gig space too - what a Renaissance man. Silent
Front were nice fellows, all the way up from London. They were really
excited about Matilda, comparing it to big social centres on the continent
and expressing the desire to try something similar down in Babylon (London).

4 bands worth of noisy music and home in time for midnight, what more could
you ask for?"

Current mood:  quixotic
fuck, what a night...a joint twisted rock attack from sukmunki and dog canute. Cheers to all for coming down! Sukmunki wowed the crowd with their awesome bonkers shouty singalong, with a startling rendition of "stumble's around" by dog canute...place was pretty packed...all ages were down to get sticky and sweaty...top form as usual! Can't give much detail cos I was sat on the door taking all that hard earned moolah of folk! Sorry! Then the dog came on and bludgeoned their way through stop starty post beefcore...folks were loving it...people were dancing(!)...always good to see, and kinda wierd that they weren't falling over due to strange rhythm changes an ting. Their cover of "thow it away" by Sukmunki (complete with backing vox by carlos and jack-I think!)got a massive cheer, which raised them no end! Ziggy was squirming on the floor, John was pounding and flailing like normal (hey, are you that crazy drummer from dog canute? yep, that's him), dave was sweating and grinning like a loon and nick was grinding away like nick grinding away! There was a lovely fast version of "stumbles.." to finish off proceedings, until the insatiable crowd wanted more....so which tune?? Could do "nothing to offer", but weren't sure if it would be remembered (been months since it was played) so it was "sickle cell"....however that hadn't been played for nearly as long, so it was ballsed up continuosly, but the crowd loved it and apparantly it was said there was not one person stood still! Energy was flowing!! And a big big big up to the man like Bri who had both bands sounding fucking class, as is his way! cheers fella!
