Class News.

The new year is fast approaching, and that means it's time to register for dance classes for the beginning of next year!

Classes at Joy of Motion: Changes ahead!

  1. Big change number one is that nearly all of the classes there are changing to a drop-in format, which means you'll no longer have to pay for a semester of classes attime. Drop-in classes are great for students who want to continue theirdance education, but whose schedules are too busy to commit to a weeklyclass.

  2. Big change number two is that I will now be teaching "Skills and Technique"for all styles of belly dance. This class is aimed to refine students'technique; build strength, stamina, and flexibility; and expandstudents' movement vocabulary through drills.

  3. Big change number three is that my classes at Joy of Motion Atlas are moving from Monday nights to Tuesday nights, from 7:30pm - 8:30pm. This gives you plenty of time to get to arrive on time and ready to move!

So, to sum up: Tuesday nights, drop-in class,7:30pm-8:30pm, Skills and Technique. Joy of Motion Atlas, 1333 H St NE,Washington, DC. Bring water and a yoga mat.

Fin de Siècle (or "end of the century" in French) is a new 7 track short album from Maduro merging breakbeats and world fusion progressions with side show sounds and marches from the turn of the century. Fin de Siècle is a degenerative audio snapshot capturing 100 year-old band sounds, carnival and circus progressions, broken organ grinders, as well as fragmented beats, dubstep, and hip hop accents.

So... I'm a part of an artistic collective/event called X in DC.  It's a total collaborative art experience where musicians, artists, graphic designers, dancers, and other performers feed off each other and create art in the same space for 4 hours once a month.  Usually X is held at BeBar, a swanky bar in DC...

This month?  It will be at the DC Convention Center as part of the Washington DC International Arts Expo.

And I'll be dancing.

Holy crap.

It's going to be pretty awesome.

Hope you can make it!

Yes... you read that right.  I'm preparing a special cabaret/oriental performance for tomorrow night at DC's only sideshow bar, the Palace of Wonders.

I haven't performed an oriental set in four years

If you're interested in seeing me don my bedlah, come out to the Palace tomorrow night for the Bizarre Bazaar night of bellydance.  Actually, you should just come to the show.... the line-up is pretty awesome.
