YYOOOWW EVERYONE!!

Wow, it's incredible to see the response we see from all over the world lately.
There's a lot of new stuff coming up, we have 2 tours ahead of us.
The first one (which will be in September) will be a modest 2 weeks and we'll be doing a little West Coast run in the US and after that we will finally be going back to Europe in November for a straight month to tour several countries...

The tourdates are yet to be announced for both of them, but you can expect them to appear on myspace and vangunn.com very shortly!!

Also, we're still working hard on getting our 2nd record done, the songs we have so far are rocking fucking hard and we're having a lot of inspiration lately so there'll be a lot of songs to choose from.
Our goal is to record 30+ songs and then pick 12 or so for the final record!

As you might have noticed, we've also become a member of Snocap and put the musicstore on the myspace page.
Cause we know that for some countries (i.e. Japan, China, S. Korea) it's been rather difficult to get the first record even on iTunes.
So this should defenitely make it easier for everyone!!

So hang in there everyone!! we hope we'll be rocking in your hometown soon!!!

Peace,

Martin

Hey!

In case you've been wondering why everything's been a little quiet around the band for the last couple of weeks, it's because we're working really hard to write songs for the new album.
We've got some new songs already that kick ass!
But since we only want to give you the best of the best, we will try to write as many songs as possible.
Our goal is to write about 30 to 40 songs and then pick 12 or 13 songs for the next record.
We also want to thank you for your support and for coming out to the shows on the previous tours. Thanks to you we had a terrific time on the road!

We will keep you updated on the progress of the record.

After a great US tour in 2006, VG is ready for the next one. Cities that are already familiar with VG, but also new areas will be attacked with the VG virus.

This time the full lenght, selftitled debutalbum will be available at the shows as well as other merch. There will also be media support around the country. Dj's, critics and fans all over the world receive their first album and they respond beyond expectations. Countries like, Japan, China or Italy, that Van Gunn never played before Show a surprisingly huge interest in the band!

Through online radio or VG TV they get a lot of response. VG TV is something the guys make themselves. It gives you an impression of what's happening on the road and in what stage of succes/struggle the band is at the moment. The 2006 tour includes 5 episodes which you can watch on their Myspace or YouTube.
Check it out.......there's some really funny shit in there!

So VG's goal for the upcoming months is play, play and play more, cause that's what they like the most. But besides that they wrote a shitload of new material.
High says: 'A week after we got back from our tour in Nov, everybody started writing like crazy!' They recorded a bunch of songs in their studio www.wattsupstudio.com
It's a little early since the first album just got released, soon there will be a Myspace profile created so you can critize and enjoy the new songs. And based on your opinions we will select the songs for the new album!!

We are also trying to play outside of the US this year, we wouldn't want to dissapoint anybody, anywhere by not playing in their country. But as you may know, a tour takes a lot of investment… so please take our word for it when we say that we are trying to play everywhere as hard as we can!
Cause there's nothing more beautiful than to be able to tour around the world!
That's about it for now, you will hear from us soon again!!

Forever yours,
VG

Hi Rockers,

Just got our second album review, check it out!!

What do a group of musicians from The Netherlands do when their
attempts at making it big in Los Angeles get derailed by an evil
manager and a lack of funds? Well, if you are the guys in Van Gunn,
you return home, regroup and head back to the bright lights of L.A. to
live out your dream. Only this time the rock God's were on their side,
and the result of their dogged determination and never-say-die
attitude resulted in one kick ass melodic rock album.
The interesting thing about Van Gunn is their ability to sound old
(without being retro and predictable) and also sound new (without
being boring and annoying) - it makes for a great mixture. And 80s
rock fans are going to love Martin's vocals that mix Johnny Gioeli and
Jon Bon Jovi with a dash of Spike. When the band revs things up they
remind me of Hardline and when they slow things down they have a Bon
Jovi feel, yet they aren't copy cats of either. Van Gunn manages to
keep an identity of their own.
My favorites are "Pull The Trigger", a commercial sounding rock
song; the mellow and heart-felt "Back To L.A."; "I Know A Little", the
song in which keyboardist Ward gets his chance to shine; and the hard
rocking "Thunder And Lightning". But I can honestly say that there
isn't one song on this release that disappoints, it is top notch from
beginning to end.
Oddly enough just prior to listening to Van Gunn for the first time
I was spinning Hardline's II and feeling a bit letdown. I was trying
to brain storm what albums would have made a better sophomore effort
for Hardline then the disc I was playing, and I was coming up empty.
Finally I gave up and grabbed another CD out of my ever growing stack
and slid it into the player. It was then that it dawned on me, THIS
disc, Van Gunn, would have made a great follow-up for Hardline.
Commercial melodic rock doesn't get much better then this.

Hello dear friends,

Time for a little update about this fucking awesome tour we..re doing through the United States of America. We..ve been the road now for 6 or 7 days, and a lot of cool things happened in these days.

After playing Hemet and Hollywood, we left LA Saturday in our rocking van Rosie, heading towards San Francisco. We played an acoustic show in a club called Brainwash. A pretty small place, but there was a great atmosphere, and good people. After that, we packed all our shit together, and were ready to move to the next place: Salt Lake City, Utah. We arrived there a couple hours before the show. A totally different atmosphere, and we didn..t really know what to think of it. But one thing was for sure, the club where we played ..The Circuit.., looked awesome, had a great sound system and had a nice big stage. No more acoustic set, this time we could play the full no-holds- barred rock show (what we like to do best ;) ). It was nice to have a big stage where everybody could jump around without being afraid that you would step on someone else..s feet! The whole band was going crazy on stage, we..ve played most of our songs from the album, like Child of Rock ..n Roll, Here to break the Rules, Daughter of a superstar, and then some more. We rocked the house, sold some merch, and made just enough money to pay for food and gas to move on to the next city.

Again we had to pack our stuff really systematically. The backline we brought with us, the guitars, keyboards, bass and drums barely fit in the van . You really get to be good at math if you wanna pack that van in the right way. Cause you really wanna be able to sit semi-comfortably if you..re gonna drive all the way to Denver Colorado, which is another 12 hours. We kept on switching drivers every 3 hours. No stops longer than 10 minutes, just to fill up the gas tank or take a piss. We have one couch in the back of the van where everyone can get a little bit of sleep. So that..s how we got to Denver.. While we were driving, we had plenty of stuff to do. Of course, you wanna relax sometimes, so we got this beautiful laptop with us, where we can watch some movies now and then. But mostly we..re using it for more important stuff, like putting some great footage together of us shouting, partying and being stupid while we..re on tour. We..ve brought this camera, to show you people some cool, crazy, weird shit that is going on while we..re on the road, and show you all these different places that we are going. Soon you..ll be able to see a lot of videos on myspace and YouTube, so don..t miss it!!
Denver was really an amazing place to be. A really nice city, which reminded us a little bit of our home country The Netherlands. It was a little but chilly, but it didn..t rain, so that was a good thing. Most of us like the sun way more then the rain (Cali-for-nia-yay!!), probably because we..ve seen too much rain in our life already back in Holland. Well, anyway, we played a show at a club called 3 Kings Tavern, an awesome rockcave with the nicest people you could imagine. We had our own backstage room, with two big buckets full of beer. All that beer we shared with the houseband, National Blues Arsenal, that was playing that night as well. We had a really good time over there, rocked the shit out of the venue, got drunk, and also got lucky as we found us a place to stay for when we..re in Austin, Texas. One of the rockers over there set up for us. The people just loved our music, and we just loved Denver, so we are definitely going to play there again. It was the perfect place for us, nice open-minded people that treated us well, great stage, and a good sound.

That night we also had a place to stay to get a good night..s sleep. A good friend of ours that we know from LA, moved back to Denver, so we could stay at her parents house. They were so nice to us, all our beds were ready when we arrived. We were all exhausted, slept like the dead, and in the morning we all showered and found an awesome breakfast waiting for us. Donuts, fruit and juice. They took care of everything. The sweetest people in the world. They gave us drinks and food for on the road. Smelling fresh and with a full stomach we were ready for the road again.

Our next stop was St. Louis, Missouri. Another long drive, but everything went well. We arrived there early in the morning, not knowing what to do, because we had to wait another 10 hours before we could play our show. So we just started walking and exploring the city. We ended up in some kind of bar, where we got ourselves a coffee and some tea. We brought our laptop, so we could do some work online for the new Van Gunn website that is coming up. Also we met some new cool people at that bar and found two other places to sleep that night after the show. Two of us could sleep at Jim..s place, who was a cool rocker that played guitar in several bands, touring the world. The other three could stay at Jason..s place who also was totally into music. Both really down to earth nice people. The show went great, went bar-hopping till close, jammed some more at our friend..s place, and passed out.
Exit 8 covington shell gas station
Time to move on, to Indianapolis, Indiana. We arrived there around 8 pm, then drove to the venue to check out the club ..The Melody Inn... It was Friday evening, and we..re supposed to play there Sunday night. We went inside the club to check it out. As you guys know, Halloween is coming up, and there was a real Halloween atmosphere going on there. That night we partied with the people over there. We had a really good time, and then went back to the van to go to sleep. Unfortunately, it was very cold, and there wasn..t enough space for all of us to sleep. So some of us went back into the club just to stay warm as long as possible. We talked to some people that were still inside, and they asked us where we were going to sleep, and we told them that we were sleeping in our van. There was this woman over there that insisted we stay over at her place. She was a real nice lady, and actually we really didn..t care that much at the moment, cause we were so tired, drunk and cold, we were just so happy that someone offered us a place to sleep. She told us that she was a dominatrix in the past, but we weren..t really paying attention.. So we went to her place. As she showed us where we could sleep, we went downstairs in some kind of basement. It was like an old dungeon, where all of her toys and chains and stuff were laying that she used to use when she still was a dominatrix. We were like; ..what the hell..s going on here??!!.., but hey, nothing happened and we lived! We took a shower in the morning and now we..re sitting in our van again, waiting till we can go to a party that we..re invited to.

Alright, that..s it for now, folks. Soon there will be a lot more. And maybe we..ll see you somewhere on the road. You never know. Take care!

Van Gunn
