Current mood:  frustrated
I recently stumbled upon this great quote by Mark Baxter

"The truth is, many of us find it difficult to change because we fear success. We've become so used to the struggle, we can't imagine our lives any differently. What would we be left with without excuses like cigarettes, slacker bandmates and local club scenes to complain about? It's frightening to think that what's holding us back is inside. Instead, we prefer to blame external issues and try to overcome them the best we can. Ironically, the best way to break this fear is to reduce expectations. If you smoke you should quit just because it's stupid, not because it will dramatically improve your voice. If your band, or the town in which you live, isn't right for you then you should move on instead of trying to make things workout for another year. Just remember your baggage will follow."

Mike Null recently produced and played on the debut album by Kelsey Quigley "crystal and ash"!  Locking in some of the area's top talent, "crystal and ash" is a powerful mix of R&B, soul and classic ballads, showcasing Kelsey's vocal talents and Mike Null's musical direction and arrangement.  In addition to top notch studio performances by Bruce Bears (Duke Robillard, Toni Lynn Washington), Sven Larson (Bangalore, Toni Lynn Washington), Randy Bramwell (The Love Dogs) Justin Berthiaume (The Howl, The Chicken Slacks) and John and Scott Aruda (everyone) the album delivers a nice blend of modern and vintage, analog and digital.
